CHAPTER 60
TALON'S POV
I felt very pissed staring at Ethan, I couldn't deny the fact that this was the worst day of my life. I couldn't hold down the tears that fell off my eyes, reminding myself of how I manipulated Ethan into a position where he couldn't walk through the path which I had walked,
I sat back flashing my memories,
I stormed into the dimly lit hideout, my heart pounding with anger and frustration. The scent of damp earth and stale sweat filled the air as I confronted Ethan, the leader of the werewolf hunters.
He looked up from a cluttered table covered in maps and weapons, his face grim.
"What the hell happened out there, Ethan?" I demanded, my voice a low growl as my eyes locked onto his.
Ethan sighed heavily, his shoulders slumping. "Talon, it wasn't supposed to go down like that," he admitted, running a hand through his disheveled hair. "We had complications."
I clenched my fists, my claws itching to emerge so I could tear him limb from limb.
"Complications? You promised we'd eliminate every last one of those idiots and capture Elena. That was the plan!"
Ethan nodded, his expression irritated. "I know, Talon, but things got messy. We didn’t know your brother, Elena, or their friends were not present in the pack when we attacked."
I couldn't contain my rage any longer. My nails elongated into sharp, deadly claws, and I slammed my fist onto the table, splintering the wood causing Ethan to flinch back in fear, yes he should be scared because my wolf wanted to rip his head off "You had one job, Ethan! One job!"
"Talon, you don't get to come in here and yell at me, I lost good men out there. We're hunters, not your personal assassins. They took us by surprise and were extremely skilled also, so we didn't have a choice but to retreat, " Ethan explained
I paced back and forth, trying to quell the tempest of emotions raging inside me.
"So, what now? What is your next move? They're still alive. You promised to kill every last one of them and bring me Elena. "
"Like I said it before, Talon, we're not your personal assassins," Ethan declared firmly, "so you can leave while I'm still being nice" he finished causing my anger to surge. Who did he think he was to order me around?
"Show him your true power, make them all fear you," urged the voice inside my head. In an instant, I seized Ethan by the head and forcefully slammed it onto the table, prompting the hunters in the room to leap to their feet, ready to attack me.
"Any of you make a move, and I'll slit his throat," I warned, sending a wave of hesitation through the group.
"Boss, what should we do?" one of the hunters asked Ethan, who remained pinned beneath my hand on the table.
"Lower your weapons!" Ethan shouted, and his men reluctantly complied.
"Very well. Now, all of you, take your seats," I commanded, and they begrudgingly sat down, their anger evident in their eyes. "Now, where were we?" I inquired, shifting my attention to Ethan, who continued to struggle in my grasp.
"Get your hands off me!" Ethan yelled, his struggle unabated.
Maintaining my tight grip on Ethan's head, I showed no sign of relenting despite his futile struggles. His defiance only fueled my resolve.
"Oh, yes, we were discussing the mistake you made before you so rudely cut off our conversation by telling me to leave," I remarked, my voice unwavering. "You seem to have forgotten that I could end your life in an instant – just a slight squeeze of this delicate neck of yours, and it's over," I added, exerting a touch of pressure to emphasize my point.
Ethan's face reddened with frustration, and he struggled against my firm grip. It seemed like he was beginning to realize the seriousness of his situation. The other hunters in the room exchanged concerned glances, their anger giving way to a sense of unease.
"Listen, Talon," Ethan began, attempting to reason with me. "We can find a way to resolve this. There's no need to do anything rash."
A smirk crept across my lips, and I tightened my grip ever so slightly, a reminder of his vulnerability. "Rash? You should have considered that before trying to assert authority over me. It seems you've forgotten who you're talking to."
The room hung heavy with tension, broken only by the sound of Ethan's laboured breaths and the faint hum of the overhead lights. The balance of power had undeniably shifted in my favour, and I had no intention of relinquishing my newfound control over these men because they would be quite useful in taking down my enemies in the near future.
"Now," I continued, my tone resolute, "let's discuss how you plan to make amends for the mistake you made of not eliminating everyone in that worthless pack."
Ethan's heart raced, and sweat began to bead on his forehead. A glance at his fellow hunters revealed their tense expressions and lowered weapons, making it clear they were just as helpless as he was. They knew they couldn't all take me down.
"Okay," Ethan said with a hint of exhaustion in his voice. "Let's talk about our deal again. Please, just let me go."
I leaned in closer, making sure he knew he didn't have much control in this situation. "We'll certainly reconsider Ethan, but the terms will be more in my favour. As for your release,"
I paused, taking a moment to savour it, "it all depends on how willing you are to work with us."
Ethan's eyes darted around the room in search of an escape that simply didn't exist. He had no choice but to comply with my demands, and he knew it.
"Fine," he finally admitted, defeat evident in his tone. "What exactly do you want us to do?"
"I knew you could be reasonable," I remarked with a devious smile, "all I want from you is to complete what you started and eliminate the remaining threats. They know too much already, "
"What about the girl?" Ethan inquired,
"Capture her, of course, and bring her to me like we agreed on," I replied.
"But your brother and his friends won't make it easy," Ethan pointed out.
"Then you'll have to find a way to make it work," I insisted, "you do have a brain, don't you?"
"Don't worry, I'll devise a plan to handle your brother and his friends. They won't stand in our way for long. You will have the girl soon. "
I leaned back, satisfied with his commitment. "Good. Time is of the essence, and we can't afford any more mistakes. Once the girl is in my custody, you will be rid of me, and I won't bother you again."
"You have a deal," Ethan said, and I finally released him before taking a step back as he got to his feet.
"See, Ethan, when you behave properly, you won't anger me. Now that we've come to an agreement, you guys shouldn't disappoint me a second time, or there will be consequences," I said with a devious grin as I walked toward the exit. "It was nice chatting with you, Ethan. Don't forget to fulfil your end of the deal. Goodbye."
With that said, I walked out of their hideout and sprinted into the forest, eventually stopping in a clearing in its midst. As I stood there, my thoughts couldn't help but drift towards Elena – her smile, her laughter, the way her eyes sparkled when she was happy; it consumed my mind. But there was something else too, something darker, something I could only admit to myself in the privacy of my own mind.
"Are you sure about this, Talon?" My inner voice whispered, caution in its tone..
Leaning against a tree, I let out a frustrated sigh. "Yeah, I'm sure. I want her all to myself, away from everyone else. She deserves someone who can give her everything, and my brother isn't that person."
"But, Talon, love doesn't work that way. You can't possess someone like an object. Love is about freedom and trust," my inner voice cautioned.
A frown formed on my face. The weak part of me always wanted to be the hero, always striving to do the right thing. But I knew, in this story, I was the villain, determined to have the girl I'd always wanted, even if it meant kidnapping her.
"I know that, but it's just... When I see her with others, I can't help but feel jealous. I want her attention, her affection, all directed at me."
The voice in my head fell silent for a moment, as if pondering my words. "Remember, Talon, love isn't about control. It's about two people coming together because they want to, not because they have to. If you truly care about Elena, you should let her make her own choices."
"She doesn't know what she wants," I countered, and the voice went quiet. Good riddance, I was the only one who knew what was best for Elena, and when they capture her and bring her to me, I will make sure she stays by my side even if I have to lock her up In my home day and night until she accepts me as her mate.
But my brother will be a problem, I need a way to get rid of him without raising any suspicion until the hunters get to him and kill him. Even though he mysteriously disappears, it's not like anyone would care about him after all he is a lonely orphan. (TALON'S flashback)
"I had this Ingrate so be scared of me to an extent that he had to wait for me to walk through the hallway before walking through it but now he gets to challenge me, it's high time I regained my power back and make sure he does my bidding."
"You should know that you don't get to sit out alone, someone who stays out alone plans either two things, how to bring his former life back and secondly first love..." the sudden pause in his words I could tell that he was just in my mind going through my thoughts "which of the categories do you fall under?"My inner voice interrupted my thoughts.
"I fall under the two categories, I want to reclaim my powers and I want my first love but it seems both are just inevitable, it seems i can't get to them" I stuttered, knowing that I was exchanging words with Elena when I'm supposed to have her as mine and make her my whore, but she's the one advising me. How pathetic.
"What are you saying?" My inner voice paused allowing the words to sink into my mind.
"You don't know yourself, you some trust in your abilities, you're a werewolf and one thing I know about werewolves is that we don't fear the urge to take something, we rip it off by force. If you think your power has been taken away from you rip it back and take it back" It advised,
"How do I take it back?" I inquired,
"By returning fully to your old self, making sure everyone fears you the same manner in which you were feared before," This was really the best time to make my name known around the whole west side.
"Do you think returning back to my dark past would bring all the powers I need?" I sighedz
"I don't think I know so Talon, get back to the man you used to be you've grown so weak that you even stand to argue words with Ethan a weakling that you once made to ask his guards to lower their weapons" this voice really had me shaken to an extent that i couldn't feel my legs the urge to go back to my past returned fully.
"Return to your past self Talon"
