Chapter Eighteen: Dance of Deception

Seraphina POV

Dancing had never been my thing, mainly because I needed to learn how to do it.

The only dance I knew was the rock pop I always had with Gran every Sunday afternoon.

And so I had been slipping my feet and kicking Ronan's legs.

However, since he was such a good dancer, he made it seem like I wasn't trying to pull off his feet.

What made it worse was that the whole school had stopped dancing and was now looking at us.

Like this was some choreography scene.

"Let me go." I whispered to Ronan, trying to wiggle away from him.

"Why? So you would go dance with ciaran?, do you really wanna be responsible for his murder?"

"What?"

"Stop aggravating towards him, you're mine, and I need you to get that into your head."

Rage enveloped me.

The prick.

First, he hides stuff from me, then he fucks me, and ghosts me, only to come back to make moronic claims?!

"The only murder that would be happening is yours."

A dark chuckle spilled out of him.

"I'd love to see you try."

Arrrrgh. Why the hell does he have to be stronger than me? And why wouldn't these assholes stop staring at us?

I freaking hate the spotlight!

I purposely kicked his legs, but as usual, he didn't show any signs of being affected by it.

"This is moronic, why are you staking your claims on me, I mean you ghosted me after our first intimate moments!"

"I didnt ghost you. You were the one avoiding me."

"Well you shouldn't have acted so unbothered about it! Point is there is nothing between us, and there never will be."

The song ended, and thankfully, his hands loosened over my waist; I took the opportunity to walk away from him.

Leaving the ballroom was happening on the first floor of the academy. I climbed up to the roof Using a secret staircase.

No one was here. And I need help finding someone here.

Plus, I could finally get a break from Ronan and his intensity.

I lay on the floor of the roof, gazing at the beautiful stars,

They were just as beautiful as that night when Granny died.

My chest tightened, and my throat suddenly felt painful.

Oh granny.

Why did you have to leave me?

Why did you lead me to come here?

A lone tear escaped from my eyes.

However, the clacking of something falling brought my attention to the roof's chimney; it came from there.

"Is anyone out there?"

No response.

But I did catch a glimpse of their clothes, a blue jacket with mosaic prints. It looked so familiar.

Where had I seen that?

Oh, that's right.

Kyros.

He wore that in my vision, always.

Fear enveloped me immediately.

Was he here?

Or is it just my mind playing games? Last time, he almost led me into the woods.

Thankfully, Lena had stopped me, and that's when we had the long talk, and then she revealed what she knew about Ronan.

I got up and checked the chimney, but no one was there.

Maybe I was hearing.

Swish.

Someone just moved in a superspeed.

"Hello?" My heart was pounding heavily.

I looked anti-clockwise to see, but there was no one.

"Seraphina."

I shrieked. Turning to my front.

No one was there.

But That was Kyros voice.

I had to get out of here,

I ran towards the secret entrance. Rushing back down and into the ballroom where there were people.

But on getting to the ballroom, I noticed the lights were off, and no annoying people were chattering.

The rustles of trees sounded in the background, and when I squinted, I realized I wasn't in the ballroom anymore.

This was the freaking woods.

Not again.

I tried returning from where I came but tripped over a twig.

Causing me to fall on my face, I groaned from the immense pain it brought,

"Seraphina."

"Seraphina."

It was more than one voice, echoes of people's voices laughing at me.

"Stop! Please!" I screamed, but the voices got louder.

"I said STOP." I shouted in a very high pitch, stormy immediately; the heavy wind blew in, and the voices disappeared.

Soon, I wasn't standing in the woods again. Instead, I was back in the ballroom,

The lights and the people were all present. However, before I could get relieved, I realized that people were staring at me with fear in their eyes.

The music had also stopped, but more frightening was April slumped to the wall, like she had been hit.

Like I had hit her.

I gasped. My hands over my mouth.

"Haaaaaaa." Another scream caught my attention. It was Emma. "There's blood on my freaking nose." She said in horror as she touched it.

No.

There was blood on everyone's nose.

And as soon as they touched it, they all screamed.

Chaos soon breaks out.

"That bitch is on to killing everyone." A student shouted in fear.

"Alright. Everyone calm down, party is over, back to your dorms." Ms Esmeralda, the history teacher, ordered.

"But.."

"Now! You heard the lady, everyone out." Mr Daves, the gym teacher, added.

And they all piled out, but not before giving me a disgusted look.

I swallowed hard.

I did this.

I made everyone bleed, and April,

Oh dear!

I rushed to her but was stopped by solid arms over my body,

"April.."

"She'll be helped, but we need to get you out of here."

I tried pushing off the strong arms, I knew that scent, but I was too disoriented to care.

"She… she'll die, she needs.."

"She'll die if you go near her."

This had me looking at the strong arms.

Ronan.

"Xander would take care of April, trust me flower."

I watched as her body was lifted from the wall and then placed on a stretcher before being taken away.

Then Ronan dragged me out of the scene.

I felt shaken and confused,

But more importantly, I felt disgust and guilt,

I'm a monster.

A bloody monster.

I was surprised to find out where Ronan was taking me. E, all I knew was that I was now sitting on something soft.

"I'm a monster."

"No. Flower, you're not."

One look at his ocean eyes, and the tears just started falling.

"I hurt everyone, I hurt my best friend, and worse I didn't even know how."

"Calm down, take a deep breath, here." He handed me a bottle of water,

"It'll calm you down."

I took little, but it sure didn't feel calming; what is calming about being a monster.

"What do you recall seeing?"

"What?"

"What was the last thing you saw?"

"I…I was enraged by you, and I decided to go to the roof, and then I heard kyros voice, and when I ran back inside, I saw myself in the woods, voices were echoing and whispering, and When I couldn't take it anymore, I screamed and I saw myself back at the ballroom."

"You never left the ballroom."

"Wh..at?"

"You didn't leave."

"I did. I swear, I walked away, and I.."

"I was watching you the whole time, you walked away from me, but April caught up to you, she was asking you if you were alright, and all of a sudden you screamed, causing her to hit the wall."

"But I don't understand, how? How is any of that possible."

"I don't know for sure, but I'm betting it has something to do with kyros."

Oh fuck.

A whimper escaped my lips, followed by sobbing,

"I…this is all my fault." The tears pooled down my eyes.

"Hey hey hey, none of this is your fault, kyros is messing with you, and he shall pay."

"You don't understand, I saw him in the infirmary, he told me that we are connected, that our fates are linked, and now when I see him, I hurt people, this is my fault. I should have spoken up, maybe gone to Lena or something, I thought keeping it in would protect you, I just…"

I couldn't stop the overflow of tears, Ronan embraced me as I cried into his arms,

"You're okay, it's okay."

We stayed like that for a while as the tears fell.

When I felt weakened by my tears, I took notice of my surroundings and discovered that we were at Ronan's dorm.

But I barely had time to take it all in before I heard the loud banging on the door.

Ronan stood up to open it, and three armed guys immediately entered.

"We are from the king, Ms Blackwood, your presence in needed at the palace."

Just then, Lena and some teachers rushed in.

"I told you that you can't enter the dorms, it's prohibited." Lena scolded them,

Fear gripped me.

"Why is she needed there?" Ronan was the one who asked.

"The kings orders. Ms Blackwood?"

I stood up with shaky legs.

"She's not going anywhere." Ronan insisted.

"I'm afraid you wouldn't be able to stop it, if you do then we are liable to use force."

That would end in more people getting hurt. I can't have that.

"I'll go."

"What? Are you nuts? The palace isn't some child's play." Ronan was scolding me now,

He stood next to me, holding my hands,

I caressed his face. "I'll be fine."

I moved to the armed men, who immediately held my hands As they dragged me off.
