Chapter 53
Chapter 53
The forest shook with tension as the rogues advanced, shadows darting between the trees like predators. Rowan’s senses were on high alert, every muscle coiled, every movement calculated. Beside him, Clara moved with precision, instincts sharp and reflexes honed from weeks of training.
“Stay close,” Rowan growled, voice low and commanding, hand brushing hers in a grounding touch that sent shivers through her. “Don’t leave my side.”
Clara nodded, heart pounding with excitement and fear. “I’m with you,” she whispered, determination and desire mingling.
The first rogue lunged from behind a tree, claws extended. Rowan intercepted, moving like lightning, throwing the attacker back. Clara reacted instinctively, sidestepping another and striking with a controlled force she hadn’t known she possessed before joining the pack.
Lila appeared at her other side, fierce and fluid, protecting the flanks while Rowan engaged the center. Clara’s heart raced, adrenaline mixing with the electric awareness of Rowan near her, every glance and touch igniting fire.
Rowan’s voice was sharp, cutting through the chaos. “Clara, now!”
She leapt, striking with precision, and felt Rowan’s approving gaze land on her. He closed the gap between them mid-battle, brushing her hair from her face, lips brushing hers briefly in a kiss charged with desire and reassurance. “You’re amazing,” he growled.
The fight raged, intense and relentless. Clara found herself relying on instinct, trusting Rowan, Lyra, and herself. Every movement was synchronized, a dance of power and protection, danger and passion.
Finally, the last rogue stumbled back, defeated, retreating into the shadows from which they came. Clara’s chest heaved, sweat glistening on her skin, but a thrill of triumph and exhilaration surged through her.
Rowan stepped close, brushing a strand of hair from her face, eyes dark with intensity. “You were incredible,” he murmured, voice low and rough. “Stronger than I ever imagined. And every time you fight, every time you trust yourself, it drives me insane.”
Clara’s cheeks flushed, heart pounding. “I… I couldn’t have done it without you,” she admitted, voice trembling with emotion and lingering desire.
Rowan’s hands found hers, pulling her close, lips pressing against hers in a slow, deliberate kiss that ignited fire between them. “You’re mine,” he whispered, teeth grazing her lower lip. “Every part of you. And I’m never letting anyone… or anything, take that from me.”
Clara melted against him, warmth pooling, every nerve alive. “And I’m yours,” she whispered, her voice fierce with love, trust, and passion.
The forest around them seemed to exhale, danger lingering but held at bay, while Rowan and Clara stood together, unstoppable—a blend of skill, desire, and unbreakable connection.
Lila appeared, smirking despite the aftermath. “Well, that was impressive. You two are practically unstoppable together.”
Rowan growled softly at her teasing, pulling Clara closer. “We’re just getting started,” he murmured, lips brushing her temple. “And next time, we fight together, every threat, every challenge… side by side.”
Clara smiled, chest heaving, heart full. “I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
