Chapter 61 61
Chapter 61 61
Rhea’s POV
Lillian apologized the entire way back.
“I swear, I didn’t mean to bump into him.” she said for the third time, her hands twisting together as we walked back to the pack.
“I should’ve been paying better attention. I ruined everything.”
I waved it off, keeping my tone light even though my thoughts were anything but.
“It’s fine, Lillian. Really. He was just being an asshole."
She still looked unconvinced, eyes darting around as though expecting the vampire to step out from behind a tree.
After a moment, I asked the question that had been nagging at me since we left the city.
“Is it… normal to see vampires out in broad daylight?”
Lillian shook her head slowly. “Now that I think about it...no, not really.”
“That’s because of the sun right?” I asked. “All the human stories about them burning?”
She let out a soft laugh.
“Humans love dramatics. The sun doesn’t kill them but it does weaken them. Slows their reflexes. Most of them prefer the dark because it’s when they’re strongest.” She explained.
She hesitated, then added quietly. “That’s why I found it odd.”
“Odd how?”
“That he’d risk revealing himself like that. In the middle of humans. During the day.” Her brows knit together.
“Vampires don’t usually take chances unless they’re very confident… or very desperate.”
A chill crept down my spine.
“I think I should mention it to Lucien.” I said after a beat. “Just as a precaution.”
Lillian stopped walking. “No. Rhea no. Absolutely not. If the twins find out we left the grounds....”
“I’ll take the blame.” I cut in.
“ You weren’t the one who insisted we go. I just want them to be aware. That’s all.”
She searched my face, worry etched deep into her expression. Then she sighed and nodded.
“Okay.” she said softly. “But please… be careful.”
By the time we reached the pack it was way past midday. Lillian and I decided to grab a quick sandwich for lunch and parted ways.
I took a hot shower. I don't remember how but in less than five minutes of getting changed, I was passed out on the bed.
It was late into the evening when they returned. I was barely through the door when I felt them.
Strong arms wrapped around me from both sides, pulling me close until I was completely surrounded. Lucien’s scent hit me first followed by Damian’s.
They inhaled deeply, hands sliding over my arms, my back, my waist, ass, all of me.
“We missed you and you smell delectable darling." Lucien murmured, more to himself than to me.
“Where have you been?” Damian asked his grip around my waist tightening.
They only pulled away when Noah cleared his throat behind them.
I suddenly became very aware of how I looked like a sandwiched between two them, flushed and hair ruffled no doubt because of the number of times they ran their finger through it.
“Oh." I said weakly, heat flooding my face.
Noah raised a brow, clearly amused. “You know,” he said dryly, “some of us are still standing here.”
Lucien stepped back slowly. Damian rolled his shoulders like nothing had happened, though his eyes lingered on me.
I smoothed down my hoodie, heart racing. I swallowed and looked past them to where Noah still stood, arms crossed.
“Did you… need something?” I asked him, trying to sound casual.
“Nope." he said easily. “Just wanted to see if you were doing okay .” His gaze flicked briefly between the twins and then back to me.
"Try to get some rest." He added.
“I will,” I replied, grateful for the excuse to breathe.
He nodded once, gave the twins a knowing look, and headed down the hall, boots echoing softly until the sound faded.
The silence that followed was heavy. Lucien’s gaze darkened as he ran his eyes over me before humming appreciatively. Damian’s eyes flickered between their normal grey and red as he fought for control with his wolf no doubt.
My body reacted before my mind could stop it. Heat pooled low in my stomach, my thighs pressing together instinctively as awareness sparked to life.
It had been hours since I’d felt their presence like this, and it showed. Every nerve in me suddenly awake with desire.
I inhaled sharply and forced myself to calm down. It didn't help that Nyra wanted nothing more than to rip their clothes open and claim them in all possible ways.
'Focus.' I said to myself.
“There’s something I need to tell you.” I said, breaking the moment.
Lucien tilted his head slightly. Damian’s brows drew together, impatience flickering across his face.
“Inside.” I added, reaching for the door. “Please.”
I hesitated before opening it wider.
“Come in?”
The twins exchanged a glance and then Lucien’s lips curved into a slow smile. Damian’s smirk was almost cruel.
Before I could react, Damian stepped forward and scooped me up with ease, one arm hooked under my knees, the other braced at my back.
“Careful what you offer, Rhea.” he murmured.
A surprised yelp left me as he carried me inside, Lucien following close behind, shutting the door slowly.
Damian didn’t give me a chance to find my footing. The moment my back brushed the doorframe, his mouth was on my neck biting and pulling. A trail of open-mouthed kisses followed the exposed skin just beneath my ear, down the line of my throat.
His breath was hot against my skin as his hands roamed free cupping my breasts and massaging them.
“Mmmh..." The sound slipped out before I could stop it.
Lucien chuckled lowly behind us. When I glanced over, his eyes were locked on me as he undid the buttons of his shirt.
“You make it very hard to behave darling.” he murmured.
Damian’s lips pressed to the hollow of my throat, lingering just long enough to make my knees weaken.
Nyra purred in approval.
My body betrayed me completely heat flooding through me, every thought dissolving. I clutched at Damian’s shoulders, my head tilting back without permission as another moan slipped free.
That was when it hit me. The vampire.
I snapped upright suddenly Damian barely had time to react.
“Wait. Stop.” My voice came out rough and breathless.
Using what felt like the last scrap of willpower I possessed, I pressed my hands to Damian’s chest and pushed him back a step.
He blinked, clearly startled.
I moved quickly, crossing the room to the open window and leaning into the cool night air like it was the only thing keeping me upright.
“Rhea?” Lucien’s voice softened instantly. Concern cutting through the desire in his eyes.
I straightened and turned, holding one hand out between us.
“Don’t come closer. Please.” I begged.
They both froze, the room was quiet except for my uneven breathing.
“There’s something important I need to tell you.” I continued, eyes flicking between them.
“And if I don’t say it now… I won’t say it at all.”
Whatever they saw on my face must’ve told them this wasn’t a game.
Lucien nodded once, slowly taking a seat in the chair beside him.
“Alright then.” Damian said. “We’re listening.”
