Chapter 77 : Dark Alleyways
Chapter 77 : Dark Alleyways
That rush of feelings hit him again and Ikrus gulped down the entire content of the bottle this time.
He swung lightly on his feet before taking in a deep breath and shaking his head to regain his stability.
His rough afternoon was becoming longer and longer and there seemed to be no end in sight. No matter how much he didn’t want to think about it, he couldn’t stop himself.
It was with an overwhelming sadness he had left Oana and headed straight to Veris after realizing that something in him seemed to have broken. He had hurried there faster than he had anticipated. Pretended not to hear all of Veris’ “I told you so,” while he requested over and over again for something to numb the pain.
“Something strong,” he had said.
He had been rejected. Over and over again. It was painful.
Now his feelings were muddled up, a wave of different things were washing over him and at different instances, he felt a need to just go back to the pack house, to go back to her.
But her voice requesting for time, had stopped him.
She had said everything happened too quickly. She had said she needed time. She had said she didn’t even know if she would want him without the bond.
Lust, she had called it.
Time apart was the best for both of them. It was shame he couldn’t be with Arlo right now.
Something told him to go to the pack house, tell her that he was only there because he wanted to see his son.
That would honestly not be an excuse, he really wanted to see him. But that would also not make him a man of his words.
He had told her to take all the time she needed.
That rush of twisted feelings rushed over him again from every direction. He pressed the bottle against his lips but this time around, there was nothing to gulp down. He shoved the small bottle into his pocket, adjusted his mask and to walk down the underground alleyway.
There were some other people in the alleyway, but they all minded their business.
It was obvious that whatever was going on here, was nothing appropriate for the light.
Ikrus didn’t want to think too much about his presence here. He didn’t want to go back.
Besides, this was the only way or was it?
He stopped suddenly, and his attention fell upon the woman resting against the wall, only a short distance away.
She had on a black mask from her upper lip, to her forehead. From where he stood he could see the mole on the right corner of her lower lip.
It was her.
It took only two steps for him to close the distance between them.
Then she smiled up at him. “There are three stars in my sky tonight.” She whispered. “Imagine how surprised I was when I discovered that you were one of them?”
Something twisted in his heart.
By the Moon, he shouldn’t be here.
Not with her.
Not right now.
After all, he had sworn that he would never see her again.
