CHAPTER FORTY FOUR
CHAPTER FORTY FOUR
Aysel's POV
"When was the last time you had sex?" Chloe's question smacked me in the face like a cheap shot of tequila.
"What the hell, Chloe?" I sputtered, clutching my tablet like a shield. I was trying to cram for my final, not dissect my nonexistent love life.
She snorted, and launched herself off my bed. "Silly, you need a night out, Aysel. You're starting to resemble a hermit crab, and not a cute one," She started ransacking my wardrobe with the enthusiasm of a squirrel finding a stash of acorns.
"I'm fine, really," I adjusted my glasses, the lenses slightly smudged with anxiety. "Finals are coming up,"
She turned, arms crossed, one eyebrow arched so high it practically disappeared into her hairline. "Girl, you look starved and mentally unstable. Not a good combination,"
"My final exams are coming up," I stressed, trying to inject a little steel into my voice.
"So?" She tossed a sequined dress onto the bed. "That's so excuse to let yourself go. Besides," her voice caught, and I knew exactly where she was going with this. I shot her a warning glare, and she sighed. "Look, Liam and I have been talking..."
"Oh, God," I groaned. "Not the we are worried about Aysel intervention again,"
"We think you're still hurt," she said softly.
I rolled my eyes. "You guys are hilarious! It's been two years, Chloe. I'm over it," Well, mostly. Okay, sometimes a little pang of pain would stab me when I think about him. I was just sad on how he tricked and dumped me after months of being together.
"Liar!" She closed the distance between us, grabbing my hand. Her perfectly manicured nails dug into my skin. "You need to have fun, Aysel, for two whole years you locked yourself and your heart in! Let it out!"
I snatched my hand away. "Who needs fun when you can study?"
She winked and scooted closer. "Come on, stop acting like a kid. Dress up, follow me, and have the best night of your life! Who knows...." She licked her perfectly glossed lips. "A one night stand wouldn't be so bad,"
"Yes, it is!" I shook my head, picturing all the things that could go wrong. "Imagine he turns out to be a distant relative...or worse, some serial killer who collects toenails as trophies! I rather die than do casual sex,"
She burst out laughing, slapping my arm. "Girl, you've read too many romance novels. Get your head our of the cloud, sweetheart,"
"Still-" I let out a sigh. "I'm not going out, have fun without me,"
"Xavier's playing tonight and Liam's new bar," she suddenly said making my stomach flip. A sudden urge to get completely wasted hit me.
"I'm fucking in!"
She squealed and rushed back to my wardrobe, rummaging through it. "Ah ah! Perfect!" She said as she whipped out a vintage gown my mom gifted me for my 20th birthday. "This one makes your boobs like amazing,"
I sighed and took the gown from her hand. "I'm only going out because of Xavier, not to get wasted."
"Sure whatever," She said in a mocking tone and rushed to my dresser. "Now go bath and come here let me doll you up."
~
I sat on a Stool at Liam's new bar. 'The Broken Heart' he called it. Liam, my childhood friend who was also the owner and bartender of the bar attended to us.
How he managed to handle both, I had no damn clue.
"More wine for my lady?" Liam asked, leaning over the bar with a deliberately ridiculous accent.
"Fuck you please," I retorted, glaring at the almost empty glass in my hand.
"I wouldn't mind, but your sex drive may be too high for me, considering you haven't been laid since Jurassic period!"
I retaliated by dumping the last of my wine on him. However he dodged it with the ability of a ninja.
"Come on Aysel, don't feel so bad," he said, wiping wine off his forehead. "Besides, you have me,"
"You're a dick," I snorted, leaning my head on the sticky countertop and groaning dramatically. "Chloe promised me I'd have the best night, okay...minus watching Xavier play live? Nothing else! I mean look at Chloe!" I gestured toward her, she was busy strangling a poor guy who tried to keep her upright. But a drunk chloe? Is worse than world war 3. "Totally wasted." I added
Liam just shrugged, pulling away to serve a customer. He returned few moments after. "You can still have fun though, that's the whole point, Aysel. Free yourself."
"I'm fine," I said through gritted teeth. "Besides, I don't do fun."
Then, I heard the scrape of a stool behind me. A warm presence settled beside me. I glanced up to see a god in human form sitting. I glanced over at Liam who was staring at the gut as if he had just sprouted a second head.
Just as I was about to look away, his eyes found mine. A dark, intoxicating gaze that sent a shiver down my spine. "Is this seat taken?" He asked, his voice a deep resonant, rumble that vibrated through me.
"No," I managed, swallowing hard. "My friend is so drunk, I doubt she barely remembers she came with me."
He smiled, a slow, debating curve of his lips. "Okay."
My eyes devoured him. He wore a simple black shirt that showcased the muscles in his arms. His hair was dark and perfectly styled, a jawline so sharp it could cut glass. And those eyes...dark, fathomless, promising things I probably shouldn't be thinking about. He oozed of confidence and a raw, primal sexuality that made my knees weak. It was like the universe had finally decided to throw me a bone, a very dangerous looking one.
"So," I straightened up, resting my elbow on the counter, using it to prop up my head. "What's a man like you doing here?" I drawled, letting my eyes roam over him, taking in the tailored suit, his damn effortless confidence, the way the dim bar light caught him. He was definitely too polished for this dive, that's for sure.
He smiled, a slow, lazy curve. "Needed a place to cool off. What about you?"
"My friend owns the bar, and I was....well," I shrugged. "Particularly dragged out," I said, rolling my eyes towards Liam, who was currently juggling cocktail shakers while flirting with a tall blonde.
He laughed, a rich, low sound that vibrated through me. "Your friend is the owner, huh? Well, he's done an amazing job with the place,"
I snorted, trying to hide the flush creeping up my neck. "Oh, please. It's nothing special."
From behind him, Liam flipped me off, a gesture I completely ignored. We kept talking, and I found myself drawn to him. The room seemed to fade away, the music becoming a muffled pulse in the background. Then, he reached out and tucked a stray strand of hair behind my ear, a simple gesture that sent a shiver down my spine.
God, I hate how easily this stranger affected me.
He seemed to have noticed the effect, and his smile turning knowing and dangerous. He looked like the type of make a good girl go bad, and he knew it. The effect he had on women. Silly little bastard.
"Care to dance?" He gestured towards the dance floor, already crowded with sweaty bodies and flashing lights. I was about to reject his offer, logic screaming at me to run in the opposite direction. But then, I accepted, a reckless impulse overriding all senses. Intrigued by what might happen next.
Maybe Chloe was right.
A little fun won't hurt.
We moved onto the dance floor, the bas thrumming through us. He took my hand, pulling me closer until our bodies were almost touching. He moved with a causal grace that was both mesmerizing and intimidating. He definitely didn't belong in a place like this.
He moved so different.
Everything about him was intriguing.
I found myself lost in the rhythm, his dark eyes locking with me. Heat flared, a sudden urge to get closer overwhelmed me.
Before I could even stoo myself, I stood on tiptoe and pecked his lips. Shocked at my own audacity, I started to pull back, only for him to wrap his arms around my waist, deepening the kiss, his tongue explored my mouth with a possessive hunger that made my knees weak.
He pulled away, making me wince, his eyes were dark as he stared down at me. "Shall we leave?" He asked, his voice low and husky I could barely make sense out of what he said.
"Yes." I replied without thinking, the word tumbling out before I could censor it.
They always said men are ruled by their dicks, but they are not the only one who crave sex enough to throw their common senses out the window.
Unfortunately, the die was cast, and whatever the hell was about to happen. I was ready.
