Chapter 88 — TO SACRIFICE.

The tensions in Silverwood escalated to a point of no return as each faction grew more desperate to locate Amara and Ethan. Accusations and blame were hurled like deadly spells, with Zathkanan Palace finding itself at the center of the storm. Suspicion fell heavily upon Alrond, the current alpha, as many believed that he was harboring the missing couple.

The once-cohesive supernatural community of Silverwood now fractured along faction lines, each group vying for dominance and control over the town’s uncertain future. The witches, wolves, and immortals, who had once coexisted, now stood on the brink of a blood-soaked war that threatened to consume them all.

Whispers of ancient grudges and long-standing feuds echoed through the streets, as memories of a thousand years ago resurfaced. The powers that Arcata had possessed had been the catalyst for a brutal conflict that had left scars on the town’s history. Now, it seemed that history was destined to repeat itself.

The town’s once-vibrant streets had transformed into battlegrounds, where the very earth soaked up the blood of those who had once been allies. Magic clashed with fangs and claws, and the air was thick with the acrid scent of power and vengeance.

Innocent mortals who had sought refuge within Silverwood now found themselves caught in the crossfire, their lives hanging in the balance as they navigated the chaos. Fear and desperation etched deep lines on their faces as they huddled in their homes, praying for a reprieve that seemed increasingly elusive.

Amidst the turmoil, Alrond’s determination to protect his brother and Amara remained unyielding. He knew that their safety was paramount, even as the weight of his decisions bore heavily upon him. Alrond had once been a staunch defender of Zathkanan Palace, but now he found himself in a precarious position, trying to save his pack from the brink of annihilation.

As the war raged on, the supernatural beings unleashed their most devastating powers, tearing through buildings and landscapes with unrestrained fury. The very foundations of Silverwood shook under the onslaught, and the town’s once-beautiful scenery was reduced to rubble and ruin.

But amid the chaos and destruction, a glimmer of hope remained. The survivors, those who had not yet been claimed by the relentless violence, whispered tales of a prophecy—one that foretold of a chosen one who would bring an end to the bloodshed and restore balance to Silverwood.

In the heart of the conflict, Amara and Ethan remained hidden, their love serving as both a source of strength and a reason to endure. They knew that their fates were intertwined with that of Silverwood, and they were determined to find a way to end the suffering that had befallen the town.

The war raged on, fueled by anger, fear, and a thirst for power. The streets ran red with the blood of those who had once been neighbors and friends. And as the ancient powers of Arcata continued to shape the destiny of Silverwood, the town stood on the precipice of a cataclysmic transformation, where the choices made in the heat of battle would determine the future of all who called it home.

When everything was a little bit calm one evening, Ethan took Amara and her family to the trusted lady that Lady Gwen had recommended to him. According to her, this mysterious lady had the power of ancient immortal healers and witches combined. It had taken them weeks to get there due to the situation at hand.

But when they went there, Sarah and Frank found the place oddly familiar. When they stepped into the dark shop filled with antics and other interesting objects, Sarah and Frank immediately remembered the place. It was the same one Alrond had taken them when they wanted to brew a truth potion for Amara.

A woman emerged from behind the counter, her eyes glimmering with ages of wisdom and her locks mesmerizing. She froze when she saw Ethan. Immediately her head when to the floor, as she began bowing repeatedly, until Ethan gave permission for her to stand.

“Elara?” Sarah called.

“You know her?” Ethan asked and Sarah nodded. Then Frank gave their account of the day Alrond took them there to see Elara and brew a potion for them.

Ethan also told his own story, but when he got to the part about the moon spirit removal, her eyes widened and she immediately fell to the floor begging for forgiveness.

“Forgive me my Lord. I thought…I thought…I did not know that the potion was for you.”

“Did Alrond tell you to brew it?” Ethan asked.

“Yes he did, I thought it was for someone else…I did not know it was for you… ah, I will kill my self for doing such a thing,” Elara lamented.

“No need, the past is the past and you were aware, but we need your help?” Ethan asked.

Elara bowed so low, “anything for you my Lord.”

“Do you know how to bring it back?”

Elara furrowed her brows, “I do my Lord, but seeing that you don’t have a full life source, restoration is as good as killing you. There is no way I can help. I am really sorry.”

Ethan sighed. He didn’t know what to do anymore, he felt so miserable. He felt Amara hold his hand tightly reassuring him.

“What about Amara, what can she do to take such power within her” Ethan asked.

“Nothing can be done as the temple of flames said, only her own self can, but that is impossible because she needs her powers to do that, but harnessing such powers would lead to death.”

As Elara explained this everything felt miserable, but then Elara spoke up again.

“I have a way to end the tragedy caused by the gem of Fate and Destiny, but it is a very sensitive matter. I do not know what you can do to thwart the destiny placed for you, how you can change your destinies, but it comes with a cost. And one of you have to decide,” she said.

“What is that?” Ethan asked, voice with so much curiosity.

Elara drew a breath before answering, “To break the spell, one must live while the other dies, for you both cannot leave together. One has to die to restore balance. That is the path the gem of Fate and Destiny set out for you.”
