Chapter 86 — FEAR FOR THE FIRST TIME.
In the confines of his dark and lonely dungeon, Ethan’s thoughts swirled like a tempestuous storm. The betrayal he had suffered at the hands of his own brother, Alrond, gnawed at his heart like a relentless beast. The pain of losing his moon spirit, the very essence of his supernatural existence, was a burden that threatened to crush him.
As he lay in the cold and unforgiving darkness, Ethan couldn’t help but reminisce about the moments he had shared with Lady Gwen. She had been a source of unwavering loyalty and support, a friend who had stood by his side when others had faltered. The bond between them had deepened over time, and he cherished the wisdom and guidance she had imparted.
Yet, even Lady Gwen’s loyalty couldn’t shield him from the harsh reality of his situation. Alrond, his flesh and blood, had orchestrated his downfall, leaving him as nothing more than a mortal man. Ethan’s mind was plagued by questions, and doubt festered like an open wound.
What had he done to deserve such treachery from his own brother? It couldn’t have been solely for the sake of protecting Zathkanan Palace, as Alrond had claimed. There was a shadow of suspicion that loomed over Alrond’s sudden shift in loyalty, and Ethan couldn’t dismiss it.
The bonds of brotherhood that had once held them together now seemed fragile and tenuous. Had jealousy, resentment, or some hidden agenda driven Alrond to strip him of his powers? The answers remained elusive, and Ethan’s heart ached with the weight of betrayal.
As he lay in the darkness, Ethan made a silent vow to himself. He would find a way to reclaim his moon spirit, to rise once more as a formidable force. The path ahead was uncertain, fraught with challenges and deception, but he was determined to uncover the truth and confront the brother who had betrayed him. But how could he do all these, when the only loyal one he had was dead. First it was lady Jane, now it was Lady Gwen and Alon.
In the depths of his despair, Ethan clung to the flicker of hope that burned within him. The shadows of betrayal may have dimmed his power, but they had not extinguished his resolve.
Before her tragic demise, Lady Gwen had entrusted Ethan with a valuable piece of information, a slender thread of hope in the midst of darkness. She had spoken of a woman who had once served Alrond, a woman whose unwavering loyalty to Ethan had caught Lady Gwen’s attention. This mysterious lady, whose name remained a tantalizing mystery, had the potential to be a crucial ally in Ethan’s quest to reclaim his lost moon spirit.
The revelation had stirred something within Ethan—a spark of determination that refused to be extinguished. Lady Gwen’s last words had planted a seed of hope in his heart, and he was determined to follow any lead, no matter how faint, to uncover the truth behind Alrond’s betrayal and the circumstances that had led to the loss of his moon spirit.
Meanwhile, Alrond’s relentless search for his brother continued. Despite Ethan’s weakened state, he had managed to elude Alrond’s pursuit by mastering the art of blending into the shadows, a skill he had honed over time. The familiarity of their childhood home, Zathkanan Palace, had provided Ethan with an advantage as he navigated its labyrinthine passages, evading Alrond’s watchful gaze.
As Alrond scoured the palace in search of Ethan, his determination matched that of his brother. He was unwavering in his commitment to protect Zathkanan Palace, even if it meant confronting Ethan, whom he believed posed a threat to their pack’s safety.
It was during one such intense search that Ethan’s path led him to the sanctuary—a place of refuge and solace for those in need. The same place Amara and her family were held hostage. The air was thick with tension, and Ethan’s instincts told him that he was closing in on Amara.
However, he was not alone in his clandestine mission. Pearl, his unwavering ally and the woman who harbored her own obsessive desires for Ethan, had managed to infiltrate the sanctuary. She held Amara and her family hostage. With the agility of a skilled predator, Ethan had slipped through a partially open window, his intentions hidden in the shadows.
Pearl’s presence added a layer of complexity to the already fraught situation. Her motivations were shrouded in secrecy, and her loyalty to Alrond was intertwined with her unrelenting desire to possess Ethan. The web of intrigue and deception continued to tighten around the two brothers, threatening to unravel their already fragile bond.
As Alrond and Pearl each pursued their own agendas within the sanctuary’s hallowed halls, the fate of Zathkanan Palace hung in the balance. Unbeknownst to them, their actions would set into motion a series of events that would reshape their destinies and challenge the very foundations of their supernatural world.
Ethan however, came to the room Amara and her family were kept. He saw that she had been beaten because her face was now swollen. So was Sarah’s and Frank, Frank was even much more worse, but Mrs. Morgan was unconscious by the side.
He snuck in and gestures for them to not make any noise. It seemed like Pearl was making a call to Alrond outside the sanctuary. So Ethan used this chance to sneak in and release them. He didn’t have his moon spirit anymore, so he had no strength to break through the binds. He looked around until he saw a knife. He used the knife to free them and they all ran through the same way Ethan came. He tried to carry the unconscious Mrs. Morgan on his way, but was spotted by Pearl just outside the sanctuary.
“Alrond, I found him. He is trying to escape, he is here, hurry,” she said to the phone.
Ethan had never been scared in his life before and even worse he had never been scared of his own brother before, but as Pearl said that to her phone. Ethan’s heart began to race. He sprinted as fast as he could making sure they would not catch up to h. When they were such that no one was following them, they stopped to relax for the night.
Now Ethan and Amara were the most wanted people in the whole of Silverwood.
