Chapter 55 55

Chapter 55 55
The Nightfall Pack Manor had fallen into silence.

Most of its residents had long since retired for the night.

Only the occasional flicker of candlelight and the soft whisper of servants moving through distant corridors disturbed the stillness.

Lucian Draven stood alone along the fourth-floor gallery overlooking the grand entrance hall below.

One hand rested casually in his pocket.

The other lazily swirled a glass of champagne.

His ice blue eyes remained fixed on the darkness below, yet he wasn’t truly seeing it.

His thoughts were elsewhere.

It had been an exhausting day.

The confrontation with Amelia.

The growing pressure from the elders.

The endless political games surrounding Nightfall Pack.

Any of those should have occupied his mind.

Yet none of them did.

Instead…

A strange unease settled deep within his chest.

It wasn’t fear.

Lucian Draven had forgotten what fear felt like years ago.

It was instinct.

The kind of instinct every Alpha possessed.

The quiet whisper that warned a predator something was wrong long before danger revealed itself.

His fingers tightened slightly around the glass.

A sense of danger.

Lucian slowly closed his eyes.

I’m not the one in danger.

His fingers tightened slightly around the crystal glass.

Which means…

Someone connected to me is.

His bond with Amelia wasn’t complete yet.

There were only a handful of people tied directly to him through the Alpha Bond.

His trusted subordinates.

Silas.

Brennan.

Nadia.

The uneasy feeling pulsed again.

Stronger this time.

His eyes snapped open.

At that exact moment…

A familiar presence brushed against his consciousness.

Brennan.

Lucian accepted the mental connection immediately.

“Speak.”

There was an unusual hesitation before Brennan answered.

“Alpha…”

For perhaps the first time in a long time since Lucian had met him, Brennan sounded uncertain.

“I don’t know how to explain it.”

“But…”

“I think Nadia’s in danger.”

Lucian’s expression didn’t change.

The unease inside his chest immediately made sense.

“…I see.”

Then Brennan spoke again, his voice tighter than before. “I… I think maybe something isn't right where she is. Maybe…”

“I trusted Nadia because she’s capable. And she is.”

Lucian spoke, and there was the faintest trace of regret beneath his composed voice.

“But perhaps I placed too much faith in her ability to handle this alone, considering it’s a serious matter.”

Another brief silence followed.

Then Brennan spoke again.

“What are your orders, Alpha?”

Lucian’s answer came without hesitation.

“You’ll go.”

“Me?”

“Yes. Although you already have assignments to oversee…”

“I don't mind,” Brennan quickly said. “I’ve been itching for a fight for a long time, Alpha.”

Then a faint chuckle escaped him.

“Whoever laid a hand on Nadia, I’ll drag them back alive. They’ll kneel before you themselves.”

A faint smile finally appeared on Lucian’s face.

Cold.

Satisfied.

“Good. Leave before sunrise. Head straight for Moonlit Pack.”

“Understood.”

The mental link dissolved.

Lucian remained where he stood, staring into the darkness.

The uneasy feeling still lingered.

He slowly swirled the untouched drink in his hand before setting the glass on the stone railing.

His eyes narrowed.

“If they’ve harmed one of mine…”

His voice was barely above a whisper.

“…they’ve already signed their death warrants.”
