Alyssa's POV
Come here" Helen beckoned to me to sit beside her on the wooden bench which she was now sitting on. I did as she instructed and Ethan stood leaning against the wall opposite us.
"Many many years ago" she began. Packs were at war which one another. Millions of werewolves were consumed by that war. It was such a crazy and dangerous period.
Hearts of werewolves grew greedy everyone was thirsty for power. Every pack wanted Zul for itself. Zul is an object made of raw magic. It is said to be created with the combined effort of four goddesses from the four corners of the world.
Before now, many chosen werewolves died during the process of transferring power to them.
The ones who survive are mostly overwhelmed by the power and end up losing control.
To put an end to this the four goddesses from the four corners of the world came together to proffer a solution to this.
They came up with the idea of locking the power away inside the deepest part of their soul
The power was to be unlocked one at a time depending on how ready their body is.
They all agreed that was a good idea but if the power is to be locked away then there was a need to unlock it when the time is right.
This led to the idea of creating Zul. Zul is a trigger, a detector, and a transmitter. It has the shape of a sun and emits rays of varying colors. Each color signifies something important." She paused to look at us as if trying to see if we were still listening.
"The green light signifies the emergence of a chosen one and his/her readiness to unlock his/her power.
The red light signifies great danger and the need for a chosen one to intervene.
The blue light depending on the signifies signifies the type of power the chosen one is ready to bear.
The white light is a detector that helps detect the location of the chosen one
The two young men you saw in your dream must be a member of the Golden Pack.
"Golden pack," asked Ethan. " I have never heard of such a pack. "
It is a pack that exists beyond the realm of this world.
When Zul was created the alpha of the golden pack and his Luna were made the custodian of it. They swore to guard it with their lives. It was also their duty to take it to the chosen one whenever the chosen one was ready to receive his powers.
The golden pack was once attacked by unknown dark forces and Zul was stolen.
Later, the rumor spread through the world that a great witch had devised a means to trigger the powers of the chosen one to unlock themselves and transfer onto the body of the one who had Zul.
Although it is said that the witch did not make it, many still went after Zul. Everyone wanted it for themselves. They were all thirsty for power.
Conflicts turned into war and in no time the world of werewolves were at war. The children of the Golden Pack alpha managed to retrieve Zul. They hid it away in a faraway place unknown to anyone.
They told no one about it except a handful of their most trusted family members.
This managed to restore peace in the world and since then no one has heard or seen zul until now."
As Helen explained these in detail I couldn't help but wonder how he knew so much.
"How did you know all these?" I asked her.
"I know a lot of things dear" she replied simply. "But what you should be more worried about is how this is a problem to us" she added.
I adjusted myself ready to listen to more of what she had to say.
The Zul must have emitted the green light alerting them that a chosen one has emerged. This means they are looking for you.
I am not sure why they looked sad but since Zul went off without unlocking your power, it simply means Zul is not in possession of the right person(s).
"What do we do now?" I asked her not sure what our next move should be.
"They are supposed to find you but now it looks like we have to be the ones to find them."
"How do you suppose we do that," Alyssa asked.
"Helen walk around the room racking her brain for an answer before she said" I don know. All I know is that we don't have time to sit around and wait for some miracle to happen. We have to work something out because we are running out of time." I knew she was right.
Ethan squatted down and started scribbling something on the soil with a tiny object he picked from the floor.
"What pattern do you think they will use to look for the chosen one? " He asked Helen.
"The zul contains a detector. The detector will pick up the signal of the chosen one and emit white light signifying that she has either been there before or is currently there.
The intensity of the light ray depends on the proximity of the chosen one."
When Helen was done explaining, Ethan scribbled more words on the soil.
"So my best guess is that they are in this region. That narrows down the work.
"How long do you think they must have been here for? Ethan asked looking at Helen.
"I am not sure but it could not have been that long, maybe a year or less"
Ethan scribbled more words on the soil.
"So this is it?" He said pointing at the things he had scribbled on the soil.
I don't think Alyssa had ever been to another region since we were teenagers. I have arranged the packs that she had been to in the order in which she traveled there. I suggest we travel to each of those packs starting from the most recent ones." Helen and I both nodded in agreement. That was a very good idea.
"Brilliant" Helen complimented unable to hide how impressed she is.
"We leave early morning tomorrow," Helen said and with that, we bid each other a good night.
I spent the whole night rolling from one end of my bed to the other. I couldn't bring myself to sleep. Not after all these things Helen had told me. I was still trying to process them
I have this bad feeling that what happened at the Red Hills pack is about to repeat itself.
Early in the morning before the sun woke up, we set out to the Blood Brothers pack.
Our journey was slowed down by the frequent downpours we encountered. After two days of traveling, we arrived at Ethan's pack.
George the alpha of the Blood Brothers pack was delighted to see Helen and so were other members of the pack.
I had no idea Helen was highly regarded.
Ethan wasted no time. As soon as we arrived he started asking around about two young men with a strange object but no one had seen them.
George assured us that they have not seen or heard about these two young men but he gave us his words that he will let us know as soon as he hears something.
The following day, we left the Blood Brothers pack and set out to the North Moon pack.
The North Moon pack is Marcus's pack and this made me nervous. I was excited about seeing Marcus after many months.
As we rode forth I wondered how he will take in all of these. Will he believe me if I tell him who I truly am?
What if we find the man there in one of his father's cells? Will he be on our side and help us get them out?
Well, there was only one way to find out.
