Alyssa's POV
The following day, I woke up feeling nervous. It was my first trial day.
It was the day I was going to start my journey to unlocking the power that is said to be locked away somewhere inside me.
I had just finished dressing up when Helen's servant came into the room.
"Good Morning Mesdames Alyssa " she greeted, bowing slightly in respect.
"Good morning dear" I replied, not sure about her name.
She invited me over to the main building where we were to have our breakfast.
When I got there, Ethan and Helen were already seated. I greeted them and they both responded with a smile.
We took our breakfast in silence as Helen made it clear that talking while eating was a habit that irritates her.
After breakfast, she told us that the trial would begin in the evening when the sun had gone to sleep and the moon was out on patrol.
"Until then, my servant will see to everything you will need" With that she went back into her room and we went back to ours.
Later in the day, Ethan suggested we explore the village. "It's quite a large village, let's go explore," He said.
As we walked around the grey land pack, we talked about a lot of things, mostly about our days as teenagers.
We went to the river, where Ethan caught a fish and roasted it by the riverside just like old times.
We spent hours by the riverside basking in the euphoria of its serenity.
Later he suggested we go to the village's forest garden. I was surprised at how he knew so many places in just two days.
"Are you sure you have never been to this pack?" I asked jokingly. The garden forest was a sight to behold, the serenity, the sweet scent of plants, and the eerie shadow the banana leaves cast on the land.
I felt thankful to Ethan for bringing me here. We lay flat on our backs side by side talking about each plant's features.
He also talked about some stories of how plants have been a vital part of life since time immemorial.
As we lay there sharing ideas, I remembered the first time I met Marcus. It was at a campfire night party.
They had come to sign a peace treaty with our pack. The first statement he said to me is still vivid in my memory.
"I have traveled far and away and I have come across many women yet you are the most amazing creature I have ever seen," he said.
I remember him apologizing for startling me. I was so captivated by his charm that we became intimate that night.
He was such a fine young man who had a way with words any woman would have fallen for his charm.
Evening came and Helen led Ethan and me into one of the rooms inside her house.
I stood in the center of the dimly lit room, surrounded by flickering candles and the scent of burning incense filling my nostrils.
My heart raced in my chest as I tried to steady my breathing. I didn't know if the process would be painful.
It still shocks me that I have abilities locked away inside of me all these years.
Helen stood before me, her eyes locked onto mine. Ethan stood beside me, his hand resting on my shoulder in a show of support.
"Are you ready, Alyssa?" Helen asked, her voice soft but firm."
I nodded, and my throat dries with anticipation.
"No! You don't just reply by nodding, you are to reply by being ready.
I wasn't sure I understood what she meant but I know I was willing to do whatever it took to realize my true self.
Helen closed her eyes and took a deep breath, and I followed suit.
At first, everything felt normal but after some minutes, I felt the energy in the room shift.
Then I started to daydream. I saw myself inside a vacuum. Everywhere was dark. Then all of a sudden the vacuum became filled with light. It was a red light. I looked up ahead and saw a ball-like object move toward me. It was floating in the air like a balloon.
When the ball came face to face with me. I felt a searing pain shoot through my body as if every nerve ending was on fire.
Then Images flashed through my mind, memories of past lives and ancient rituals. I felt a connection to something deep and primal, something that had been buried within me for centuries.
Then, suddenly, I cried out, unable to contain the agony that wracked my body. Ethan's grip on my shoulder tightened, but I barely registered his presence as the pain intensified.
It's as if it was showing events and people in descending order of which they occurred.
I saw people and places I have never seen or read about, then I saw the werewolf who appeared to me in my dream.
I saw two young boys whose resemblance suggests they are twins. They looked sad and were holding the ball-shaped glass.
Then the light from the ball suddenly turned off and the ball-like glass disappeared leaving me in darkness.
The pain began to ebb, replaced by a sense of power and strength that flowed through my veins. I opened my eyes, gasping for air, and looked around the room. The candles burned brighter, the incense smoke thickening in the air.
Ethan held me tight so I didn't fall. He helped me to sit down.
"What did you see?" Helen asked.
I explained the things I saw as best as I could. She taught hard and long before she finally said "There is a problem"
My heart skipped at that statement.
"What is the problem now?" Ethan's worry was evident on his face.
"Did you say you saw two boys holding a ball like glass? "
"Yes, I did." I nodded
"Did you say they were looking sad? "
"Yes they looked sad"
She walked around the room as if thinking of a way out. I could tell something was wrong.
The suspense was killing me. I wanted her to say something. If there is a problem I need to know how bad it is.
