Chapter 191

"I think we need to be creating a plan to get us out of here, and figuring out how we can keep you safe until we can do something about the King.  He will not stop hunting you, until he has your powers.  We need to get you safe, and then these fine men here can take him out."  Gran had put her arms around Alexis and Andreas. They were so tall her arms did not reach their shoulders, so she held them around their waists. Alexis and Andreas looked down at her one smiled and the other scowled. "Do you have a plan?" Alexis said. "So far we have not been able to do much to keep her safe. She has been saving us." Gran raised her eyebrows. She let go of the two men, turned and stood next to Amaris and Lyle. "So far she has done what she has needed to do to stay alive and to keep those around her alive. She is still learning her powers. What we need to do is to give her time." Everyone in the room looked at Gran. Taji leaned out from behind his brothers, "Time to do what?". Nikos too leaned forward and at the same time asked "How much time?" Gran turned her head sideways and looked at Amaris as if she was making a decision. I think we all need to sit down and I will explain a few things. With that, Gran swung her arms to shoo everyone out into the living room area. Lyle began to steer Amaris toward a love seat next to a fireplace. "Where are we?" Amaris asked him quietly as they walked and sat down. Lyle sat next to Amaris and then put his arm back around her. "We are at the home of a friend of Jason who is currently on vacation in Barcelona. He house sits for them sometimes and knew where their spare key was." Lyle whispered back in her ear. He gave her a gentle kiss on her earlobe and a small nuzzle. He pulled her a little tighter and once more planted a small kiss on her hair.

Gran waited until everyone was seated and then settled herself in the rocking chair, which was the only chair left. They were all sitting in a big circle now around the coffee table. Some were sitting on the floor, while the rest had taken up residence in the available chairs. Gran sat back comfortably and rest her folded hands in her lap. "There are many things that I need to explain, and not much time, so I will skip a few things but condense where I can." Gran started. Her eyes fell on Amaris and Lyle. Lyle had taken his arm off her shoulder and was now just holding her hand as both of them were sitting on the edge of the cushions waiting for Gran to tell them what her plan was. Amaris acknowledged Gran's statement with a nod. Gran continued. "Some things that I have to tell you dear, you may have already figured out on your journey, somethings your heart may already know, but your head has not come to terms with it." Lyle furrowed his brows at this statement, but said nothing. Everyone else in the room was silent. "As you know your mother AND your father both had bloodlines leading back to the gods. You have the blood from three gods in your veins. This allows you to do many things including see glimpses of the future. Like your parents, you have been hunted for your gifts. I believe that you will continue to be hunted, and so will your children." Gran looked at both Amaris and Lyle with a knowing look. "You two will need to go into hiding." Gran's peircing gaze landed on Lyle now. "You must protect her. We will try and lure the King out and away from you, but your must keep her and your children safe at all costs." Lyle squeezed Amaris' hand. He looked at Amaris. "Gran is right. I know I let you down before, but I will not be forced from your side except by death itself." Lyle vowed and he brought her hand to his lips and kissed it. Amaris smiled shyly and brought her hand up to caress the side of his face. She found that she no longer cared about before. She almost lost him, and could not bear to have that happen again. The moment between them was broken when Gran started to speak. "Just so everyone in the room is clear, Lyle was able to use some of Amaris' powers. At that time he did not know that. He also had recieved a message from his brother trying to get him to leverage those powers for their own power. If Lyle would not do it on his own Adam was going to try and force him to by killing members of their pack. Their pack is now safe. With the help of Ben and Emily, the three of us were able to get them help and they were able to take back the pack and the town. The whole pack has been freed and the wolves that were holding them are in prison awaiting trial for when you two get back." Amaris froze. She knew none of this, and that explains why Lyle was so upset that night at Christos' grandmother's house. "I am so sorry Amaris. You were already dealing with so much, and I did not want to burden you with one more thing. I thought that if I went to the Palace to see my brother that I could make him see reason and get the pack released. I did not know about what I had done with our mate bond until I was already captured and they were looking for your mark and it was no longer there." Lyle hung his head. Amaris did not have to think long. She took her hand and lifted his chin with it so she could look him in the eye. "It's ok. I did not understand before, but now I do. It's not like you did it maliciously, or that you even had time to fix it. Your were a prisoner all this time. The man who we rescued was not you. I know that now." She leaned in and gave him a gentle, sweet kiss. Lyle, unsure at first, froze and then they seemed to catch fire and kissed her back. The passion in the kiss said everything that Amaris needed to know. He was gentle but hard an urgency to his kiss. His tongue moved along her lips asking for entry and she did not hesitate, as she could feel the desire burning its way down her own body. She wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer. He was her mate and he still loved her. Amaris could feel that. She also knew that she still loved him. There was a loud clearing of a throat, and it brought them both back to the room that had all other eyes on them. Amaris' face grew red, and Lyle rubbed the back of his neck as there were a few stiffled giggles and every face in the room smiled at the couple.
