Chapter 36 Secret mission

Chapter 36 Secret mission
~Dagan's POV~

“What?” she asked in complete shock, her voice rising sharply. “What are you talking about?”

“Bring your voice down,” I urged her, lowering mine deliberately. “It is not as complicated as you think it is. From the little I already know about black magic, we have already passed the stage where we can rely on normal methods. The kind of magic we are dealing with now can only be neutralized by a force stronger than the one already operating on him. The only thing that can mean more to Kael than what she is giving him right now is family. And the only family we can use now is a child. If we waste time and she gets pregnant before you, we are doomed. Completely doomed,” I explained, laying it out slowly as if I were teaching a stubborn toddler who needed everything repeated twice.

She still looked confused and unsettled, but her mind finally reached the question I had been waiting for.

“How do you expect me to get pregnant for him?” she asked. “He will not even touch me as things stand now, and I cannot fake one because he has never touched me before.”

“Who said you have to fake one?” I asked, giving her a look that made it clear she should have seen this already. Her confusion deepened in the most useful way possible, giving me the perfect space to drop the real bomb. “You just have to get pregnant first, and everything else will fall right into place.”

Even more confusion flickered across her face, but I did not allow her to release the question forming on her lips. I clarified before she could speak.

“The father does not have to be Kael.”

Her eyes widened in horror.

“Dagan,” she whispered, barely able to force my name out. “You want me to…” Her voice broke off, the rest of her question hanging trembling in the air.

I leaned back into the chair, my posture relaxed, the expression on my face giving her every answer she feared.

“I cannot do that,” she said, shaking her head. The disappointment I felt tasted bitter.

“Too bad,” I replied with a sigh as I scratched the bridge of my nose. “I understand. It is not a task for the faint hearted.”

A flare of annoyance burst through her eyes the moment I finished that sentence.

“I am not faint hearted. I just… I do not want to bring shame to my father and to the Moon Crest pack.”

“Explain to me how having a child for someone you love brings shame to your father and to your pack,” I asked, letting my voice soften, pretending not to understand the struggle she was clinging to.

“What if they find out it is not his?” she asked.

“Simple,” I said. “We make sure they never find out. It becomes a secret we will take to our graves. That is why whoever you choose to do this with must be someone who will never, under any circumstance, reveal the truth.”

I stood up when I saw how deeply she was absorbing the idea, how tightly the hook was already lodged in her thoughts. She had caught the bait, but I knew she still needed one last push.

“I understand that this may be difficult for you, and trust me, I will completely understand if you think you truly cannot go through with it,” I said. “But I need you to also understand that this is your future we are talking about. Our future as a pack. I believe it is a sacrifice worth making. I will leave you to think about it, but remember that time is not on our side.”

I gave her an understanding smile and began to walk toward the door.

I stopped just before reaching it and slowly turned back to her.

“Oh, and if you need this to remain strictly between the two of us with no other person involved, I will be more than willing to help,” I said. “I believe you understand exactly what I mean. I will be in my room if you come to a decision.”

With that, I left the room and headed toward mine. My steps felt steady, but inside my chest, something burned with anticipation. I hoped that the seed I had planted in her mind would grow exactly the way I needed it to.

Less than fifteen minutes later, I heard a knock on my door. My pulse jumped immediately. I walked over and opened it, and there she was. Brenda stood outside my room, and though I kept my expression controlled, I felt a rush of triumph explode inside me like a silent celebration. I could not show it, of course. I was supposed to be helping her, not the other way around.

I let her in, and only then did I notice that she had changed into her nightwear. The soft fabric clung to her body and gave me a clear, lingering glimpse of her curves, her skin, and everything I had hoped she would offer.

“So what is it going to be?” I asked immediately, getting straight to the point.

“I have a question,” she said. “How do I get him to sleep with me after this?”

“Leave that to me,” I replied with confidence. “I will arrange it.” The plan was already fully formed in my mind, sharp and perfect.

“Are you sure this is going to work?” she asked.

“One hundred percent,” I said. “He will not suspect anything.”

“Fine. This remains between us,” she said. Her voice was firm, but her eyes sought reassurance. I gave it by slowly miming the motion of locking my lips and tossing away the key.

She nodded once. No more words left her lips.

Then, in a single bold move, she began to remove her clothes.

I did not wait for her to finish. The moment the top slid off her body, exposing her skin to the dim glow of the room, I launched myself toward her.

This was going to be a long and deeply satisfying night.
