"Don't be scared. Mommy is here..."
Her heart tightened. She crawled over, about to hold the babies, when suddenly, a foot stomped on her hand.
"Haley, you really do have some skill. You actually gave birth to a pair of twins."
Emily looked at the babies with a cold and sinister expression.
"Too bad, these two bastard children met such an unfortunate fate. They only lived a few seconds before dying."
"Nonsense! My children are not dead!" Haley's heart almost exploded.
She reached out to touch the babies, wanting to feel their faces and gently pat their little bottoms.
However, before she could touch their soft bodies, a maid walked in, coldly picking up the two babies from the ground.
"Ms. Emily, how should we dispose of these two dead infants?"
Emily didn't care at all about whether the babies were alive or dead. If they died, seeing Haley's sadness would bring her immense joy.
Of course, even if these two children were alive, it wouldn't matter. With two illegitimate children of an unknown father, Haley would never be able to turn her life around.
Emily's gaze unintentionally fell on the two babies.
Then, she suddenly froze.
These twin babies looked identical. Their faces emaciated from malnutrition, their skeletal structures visible, and their facial lines prominent.
Their faces reminded her inexplicably of Ivan Winston, the notorious Demon King of Cuenca.
Following that, she recalled that on the second day after Haley's accident, it seemed like the entire city was looking for a woman for the Winston family.
Emily began to wonder if it was Ivan who had a tryst with the promiscuous Haley.
Even the thought of it had her eyes widened in astonishment.
She couldn't utter a single word.
"Emily, we are sisters. Please take my babies to the hospital. They haven't died yet, they're still alive... The doctors can definitely save them."
Haley grabbed hold of Emily's clothes, desperately pleading, "I promise you anything you want, I can give you the shares, and I don't want to inherit the DeRoss Group. Emily, as long as you can save the lives of my babies…"
Emily snapped back to her senses and kicked Haley away with her foot.
Coldly, she said, "The two bastards are dead, taking them to the hospital won't help. Someone, carry the bastards out and bury them wherever."
"No--!"
Haley was shattered, and she desperately crawled after them.
Emily kicked her over with one foot. "Haley, you just gave birth, you better rest well. Look at yourself. You're still bleeding, Father won't even agree to take you to the hospital. You're on your own."
After saying that, she slammed the door shut.
"No! Emily! Emily! You can't do this! Give me back my children!"
Haley grabbed onto the railing of the iron gate and bellowed in agony.
Her eyes were filled with pain, bloodshot and filled with boundless hatred deep within her icy irises.
Her children had died, and Emily was the murderer.
Perhaps her gaze was too sharp, but Emily was frightened by it.
Even animals seek revenge if their offspring die. If Haley miraculously survived, she would surely be her relentless enemy.
On top of that, the shares of the DeRoss Group were still in the hands of that detestable woman.
Emily turned her head and looked coldly at the guard at the gate. "John, the DeRoss family has an esteemed guest coming in the next few days. Go attend to the front yard. You don't need to worry about here."
Emily initially didn't intend to take Haley's life. However, she had slept with the most esteemed man in Cuenca. If that detestable woman were to get involved with Ivan in the future, everything Emily had planned would be ruined.
Since it had come to this, Emily had no choice. With that, she picked up a large lock and locked the iron gate.
Haley had just given birth and the babies died. Experiencing both physical and emotional trauma, she would most likely to bleed to death soon.
When a woman bleeds heavily after giving birth, it is a one-way path to death.
Emily had just reached the entrance when a maid hurriedly approached. "Emily, the two babies didn't die, they're crying again..."
Emily was utterly surprised. She hurriedly said, "Quick, take me to see..."
In the warehouse, Haley had no time to mourn for the dead children. She lay on the floor, soaked in blood, as the pain in her abdomen struck again.
This kind of pain was all too familiar to her. She had experienced it before giving birth to her children.
She touched her stomach and felt something strange.
'Is there another child in me?' Haley's eyes widened in alarm.
She couldn't afford to waste any more time.
She quickly exerted force, causing more blood to gush out.
The tearing sensation came in waves. If it weren't for a surge of strength supporting her, Haley would have already fainted.
But she knew she couldn't pass out.
If she lost consciousness, the child in her belly would suffocate.
She bit her tongue, drawing blood, and regained some clarity.
"Wahh..."
A weak cry echoed in the room.
Haley's tear-filled eyes lit up.
She struggled to prop herself up and look...
There were two more babies. She had given birth to quadruplets.
However, the two older boys who were born earlier were no longer here.
If Emily had taken the two older brothers to the hospital in time, her own two precious babies would have survived as well.
Haley had never hated her sister, whom she had loved so much over the years, as much as she did now.
Locked up here eight months ago, she had always believed that she deserved it because she was the family's disgrace.
Now, she knew it was all a conspiracy.
Emily was ruthless and insane. She put her own sister through so much pain and grief just to take away the inheritance of the DeRoss family.
Haley would not let the DeRoss family off.
She forced herself to crawl toward the two children.
There was a boy and a girl.
They were both covered in blood, but their beautiful eyes couldn't be hidden.
These were her babies, her reason for fighting to stay alive. These children were her whole world.
At that moment, the warehouse suddenly burst into flames!
It was Emily who had set the fire; she wanted to burn Haley to death and eliminate any future threats!
Haley instantly became frantic; she knew for sure that it was Emily who had started the fire!
She couldn't let her newborn child die here!
In this desperate moment, the power of a mother's love erupted. Haley, without a second thought, broke through the burning warehouse door, then picked up her two babies and escaped from the sea of flames...
In the DeRoss residence, Frank DeRoss was pacing in the living room, furious.
Emily falsely accused Haley, claiming that the fire in the warehouse was set by Haley, which is why Frank was so furious.
"Why would Haley deliberately burn the place? How can I have such a jinx of a daughter? Get someone to find her. We must bring her back!"
Frank was filled with anger.
Billions of goods have been burned in the warehouse, and he will have to compensate for billions of breaches of contract.
If it weren't for the wealthy background of the DeRoss family, they would probably go bankrupt.
At this moment, the servant hurriedly reported, "Sir, a female corpse suspected to be Ms. Haley has been found in the lake one kilometer away from the DeRoss residence..."
"Haley probably couldn't bear it and committed suicide by jumping into the river. It's all my fault..."
Emily let out a sigh, pretending to be very sad, tears streaked down her face. "Haley birth to two children just last night, and now they have no mother. What should we do?”
Frank showed no grief over the death of his daughter. Instead, his face was filled with anger and impatience. "What's the use of keeping those two bastards? Just send them to an orphanage to save me the trouble."
"Dad, those two children look a lot like Ivan..." Emily said slowly, "The strange man eight months ago was probably the head of the Winston family, Ivan Winston..."
Frank couldn't believe it. "Ivan..."
The Winston family was the pinnacle of the Cuenca pyramid. The DeRoss family could only look up to them…
"So many people have wanted to cooperate with the Winston family but never had the chance. Now, Ivan's sons are in our hands, why not make use of it?"
Frank narrowed his eyes. "Emily, what do you mean?"
"I will take the children to the Winston family."
