Chapter 193 What If She Abuses Liam
Alexander said, "You won't look pretty if you cry."
Grace mumbled, "Then I won't look pretty..."
Alexander chuckled and gently tapped her nose, "I like you even when you were not pretty."
Grace froze for a moment, then looked at him with tears and laughter, "You mean I look ugly when I cry..."
Alexander laughed, "I'm just kidding. You're beautiful no matter what."
Grace couldn't help but laugh too, "Are you trying to make me feel better?"
Alexander said, "Do you think I'm trying to make you feel better? Want me to get you a mirror?"
As he spoke, he actually started to look for a mirror.
Grace grabbed his hand and wiped away her tears, "Don't get me a mirror. I know how ugly I look when I cry!"
With him comforting her like this, she couldn't cry anymore.
Alexander said, "I told you, if anyone bullies you, I won't let them get away with it."
Grace said, "Don't do anything."
If Alexander made a move, Foster Corporation would be done for.
It wasn't that she still cared about her relationship with the Foster family—she just didn't want to drag him into this.
Alexander asked, "You don't want me to go after the Foster family?"
Grace said, "I don't want to drag you into this. This is between me and my dad."
Alexander leaned down and gently kissed her cheek, "Your problems are my problems. There's no such thing as dragging me into anything."
He had almost lost control earlier.
If he had made a move, David would have ended up either dead or seriously injured.
He was especially careful about controlling his emotions now. After all, compared to physical violence, he had plenty of other ways to deal with Foster Corporation.
Max heard the commotion downstairs and ran down, with Liam following him like a little tail.
As soon as Max came downstairs, before he could ask what happened, he saw Grace's red eyes with obvious traces of crying. He frowned and walked over, "Mommy, what's wrong?"
Grace said, "I'm fine."
Her emotions was already stable.
Max asked, "Did that man bully you again?"
He suddenly felt like he was asking a stupid question.
Mommy had cried so much—besides that cold-blooded grandfather, who else could make Mommy cry like this?
Grace said, "Max, I'm fine, don't worry. Come here, let Mommy hug you."
Max walked over, and so did Liam.
Grace hugged them both, holding them in her arms, "Max, from now on, David won't be your grandfather anymore, okay?"
Max asked, "Did Mommy officially cut ties with them?"
Grace had already reached this point with the Foster family before, but this time should be the final break.
Grace looked at Alexander, "I want to move my mother's grave and rebury her."
All this time, she had gone to the cemetery alone, paying respects to the Foster family ancestors together.
Not anymore.
Since things had gotten this bad with the Foster family and they had completely cut ties, she didn't want to pay respects to those Foster family ancestors anymore either.
Alexander said, "Okay."
Grace said, "In a while, I'll have a proper talk with David. Right now, I don't want to see him."
Seeing David made her sick.
Especially seeing his greedy face.
What she feared most was David pestering her endlessly. After all, David had been in business for most of his life—he was shrewd and only cared about money.
This matter probably wouldn't be easy to settle.
"Mm."
Alexander said, "After my father comes back and you two meet, I'll handle this with you."
Grace paused, "I can handle it myself."
Alexander said, "Grace, don't push me away."
He didn't want her to face anything alone without him.
She was too strong-willed.
He admired her stubbornness, but he also didn't want her to have no dependence on him at all.
Actually, he really liked the feeling of her depending on him. Even just a little bit—he liked this feeling of being needed by her.
Grace paused, and after a long while, finally nodded, "Okay."
A week later.
William brought Samantha back to the country.
When the two returned to the Hayes family, Mary told them that Alexander had already moved out of the Hayes family home.
William frowned, a bit surprised, "Why did he move out?"
Mary said, "I don't know. Probably because Grace told him to."
Samantha asked, "Mom, there's something I don't know if I should ask."
Mary glanced at her, her tone slightly cold, "What is it?"
Samantha knew that while Mary was warm toward William, she was quite cold toward her—clearly she didn't like her.
After all, in Mary's eyes, she was just a social climber who married William for his family background, a vain woman.
Samantha also resented Mary in her heart.
Back then, to marry William, she had signed all sorts of unfair agreements—prenuptial agreements, no-children agreements—and still hadn't been able to give William a child.
But she wasn't worried. She was still young and had plenty of time to wait.
Recently, she had secretly frozen her eggs, just in case. Once Mary was gone, she would hurry up and give William a son.
Now that William was back, it was to meet Grace.
Naturally, Samantha felt a bit uncomfortable. After all, they had both married into the Hayes family, but she had to sign all these unfair agreements while Grace didn't.
This was way too unfair!
Samantha asked, "Alexander is getting married, so what about Liam? Has Liam's mother been found? When that woman marries in and becomes Liam's stepmother, will she treat Liam well?"
Mary's expression became serious, "She better not dare treat Liam badly!"
Samantha said, "Mom, don't get upset. I'm just asking. After all, how many women in this world can be good stepmothers? They're not blood-related, so I'm afraid she'll treat Liam well on the surface but be biased against him in private. After all, Liam is a child without a mother."
Mary said, "Aren't you also a stepmother? Are you saying you can't be a good stepmother either?"
Samantha's expression stiffened.
Mary said, "I think Grace is at least better than you. She's not like you, spending money recklessly."
Samantha looked at William with grievance.
William said, "Mom, when Samantha spends money, she's spending mine, not Alexander's."
William had already separated from the family financially.
Samantha said, "She is better than me—at least she gave Alexander a son."
Mary frowned, "She's Alexander's original wife after all. Now he's remarrying her, not marrying someone new."
Samantha felt rebuffed and was very uncomfortable.
Mary also said meaningfully, "Between husband and wife, the original match is still the best."
Samantha steered away from this topic and said coolly, "I'm not worried about anything else, I'm just worried she'll bully Liam. Liam is still so young. If he gets wronged, he won't know who to tell. In the end, Liam will just suffer."
Mary said, "What are you trying to say? You don't like Grace, do you?"
Mary didn't have any opinion about the remarriage, but Grace was Max's mother, and she liked Grace too because of that.
