Chapter 94 I Want You to Give Me All Your Love
Grace didn't react at first. When she finally processed what Alexander had suddenly said, her scalp prickled with shock. "What?"
Alexander said, "You heard me perfectly clearly. I don't need to repeat myself."
Grace stammered, "Remarry? How could you..."
Alexander turned to face her, seemingly reading the resistance in her eyes, and said coolly, "What? You don't want to?"
Grace replied, "I don't want to. I have no reason to accept that proposal."
Alexander lifted his gaze, his tone carrying an imperious finality: "Did you think I was asking for your opinion?"
He suddenly stepped in front of Grace, his tall frame blocking out nearly all the light.
She was completely enveloped in his shadow. Looking up, she could only see the man's stern jawline.
Alexander said, "Whatever conditions you have, as long as they're within my power, name them."
Grace replied, "We're already divorced, Alexander. Even if we'd never been married, I would still treat Liam as my own and take good care of him. So if you want to remarry me for Liam's sake, it's completely unnecessary."
Alexander studied her for a moment, taking in her youthful face—skin tight and complexion fair, showing no signs that she'd ever given birth.
He suddenly said, "I know you can't accept this immediately. I can give you time to think about it."
Grace said, "I never knew you were such a devoted father—willing to accept a woman you don't love and marry her for Liam's sake. And what about marrying Emily?"
Alexander's expression darkened.
He'd already abandoned the idea of marrying Emily.
He was very clear in his heart that his feelings for Emily were more guilt than anything else.
She wanted to marry him, and he'd originally thought marrying her would be the best way to make amends.
But compared to Emily, he cared more about Liam's feelings.
Grace seemed to read his thoughts, asking, "Do you want to remarry me because you want to give Liam a complete family?"
Alexander glanced at her. "You can think of it that way."
Grace said, "We're different. I wouldn't marry you just to give Max a complete family, even if you were Max's..."
She stopped mid-sentence, nearly revealing too much.
Alexander keenly caught her unusual expression, raised an eyebrow, and asked suspiciously, "Go on."
Grace's heart suddenly began racing.
She quickly changed direction: "You're not even Max's biological father. He's my child with another man. Can you really accept his background?"
Alexander remained silent for a long moment, then said slowly, word by word, "I would treat him as my own."
Grace asked, "But do you love me?"
Alexander gave a cold laugh. "Grace, are you joking with me? I want to remarry you, not have some romance."
Grace said, "I won't accept a marriage without feelings."
Alexander said mockingly, "You're not some eighteen-year-old girl anymore. At your age, do you still believe in love?" Marriage has nothing to do with love. Romantic fantasies divorced from reality are nothing but empty theories that inevitably end badly.
This was true for ordinary people, and even more so for wealthy families.
For him, marriage was only about suitability.
Emily wasn't suitable. Grace was more suitable. That was all.
Love was a ridiculous thing.
His father had abandoned his wife and child for love. He didn't consider love to be anything noble.
Grace suddenly asked, "Alexander, have you ever loved anyone?"
Alexander replied, "Besides Liam, I don't love anyone."
Grace said, "Family love is family love, romantic love is romantic love. You've never loved anyone, so what right do you have to question love? Even if I remarried you, what happens when you fall in love with another woman someday? Will you divorce me again?"
Alexander was stunned.
Grace gave a cold laugh. "You don't actually think no other man would want me, do you? Men who want to date me have always lined up around the block. But I won't marry a man I don't love. If you want to remarry, then please court me and make me willingly want to marry you."
She turned to leave.
But Alexander gripped her hand tightly, pulling her into his arms.
Grace was startled and tried to break free, but the man clamped down on her shoulders, his questioning tone crushing down on her like a mountain: "You said many men are pursuing you. How many?"
His tone was unusual, like he was interrogating a criminal.
Grace found it baffling. "Why are you asking that?"
Alexander said, "Answer me." He said coldly, "Who's pursuing you? Names? Backgrounds?" If he found out which man dared to pursue her, he'd destroy them.
Grace shrank back at his terrifying expression.
The man's gaze was too frightening. If she didn't already know he was heartless, she might think he was jealous!
"Let go!"
Alexander continued his interrogation: "You said you won't marry a man you don't love. Nine years ago, why did you marry me?"
Grace temporarily lost her ability to form words: "I..." Cornered by his questioning, she couldn't help saying, "Back then, I agreed to some conditions my father set."
"Ah? A transaction." Alexander said, "Since you married me for conditions, why pretend to be so noble now? You just want to negotiate terms with me. State your conditions."
Grace looked at Alexander for a long moment, then suddenly said, "I only have one condition. I want you to give me all your love. Besides that, I don't want anything else."
"Mommy!"
Max ran over, saw the two of them embracing, and froze.
Grace pushed Alexander away, looked at Max, and smiled. "What's wrong?"
"Mommy, you and Alexander were standing so close together. What were you doing?" Max looked suspiciously at Alexander.
From his angle, he thought Mommy was kissing Alexander.
Grace didn't know how to explain, but Alexander said calmly, "Your mommy got something in her eye. I was helping blow it out."
Max didn't think much of it and waved at Grace. "Mommy, come fly kites with us!"
"Okay." Grace walked toward Max.
Behind a tree.
Emily stared at Alexander's tall figure, her pupils trembling, her hands shaking uncontrollably.
He wanted to remarry Grace?
This Grace was simply trying to use Liam to climb the social ladder, capturing Liam's heart to tie herself to Alexander.
She gnashed her teeth in hatred, her gaze fixed murderously on Grace's retreating figure as a wicked idea began to form.
She wouldn't let that bitch succeed!
Alexander belonged to her, and no one could take him away.
