Chapter 135 The Game of Having a Baby
Alexander's large hand cupped Grace's delicate face, while his other hand gently pressed down her instinctive attempt to push him away. His lips brushed softly against hers, progressing gradually, deepening the kiss as if he were under some spell.
He couldn't help but want more.
"Don't..." Grace glanced toward the slightly ajar door from the corner of her eye. Liam and Max could walk in at any moment.
But the man before her was already lost, unable to hear any of her protests.
Her lips were so soft, making him want to bite them, to tease her, but mindful of how easily frightened she was, he had to restrain these somewhat wicked impulses. Cupping her face, he waited until she gradually became less resistant before advancing further, conquering new territory.
Outside the door.
Liam was about to knock when he noticed the door was ajar. Crouching down, he gently peered through the crack and witnessed the scene, his small hand flying to cover his mouth, eyes wide with surprise.
"Liam..." Behind him, Max approached curiously.
Liam suddenly spun around and pounced on Max like a tiger, his small hands immediately covering Max's eyes to prevent him from seeing what was happening in the room and potentially interrupting.
Max was caught off guard and knocked to the ground.
"What are you doing!"
Max pushed him away and stood up, rubbing his sore bottom. "What's wrong with you? Where's my mommy?"
He turned back toward the slightly open door, calling out as he moved toward the room.
Liam pounced again, scrambling up from the floor and tackling Max back down.
"Liam!" Max and Liam tumbled together in a tangle.
Grace heard the commotion outside and snapped back to reality, pushing Alexander away abruptly. "I hear Max's voice..."
She stood up, but her leg cramped, causing her to stumble sideways and crash into Alexander's embrace.
Alexander's arms steadied her securely, his brow furrowing. "What's wrong?"
Grace rubbed her bumped forehead, muttering, "I heard Max calling for me..."
She lowered her head in embarrassment, unable to meet his eyes.
She could feel her face burning hot, her neck stiff like a malfunctioning machine, too embarrassed to lift her head.
Alexander knew she was shy. He'd already shown such restraint, yet she remained as innocent as if untouched by worldly matters, like a hedgehog that curled up at the slightest contact.
Which was, in fact, the truth.
She truly was inexperienced.
Grace said awkwardly, "You... you should go check..." Her leg was cramping; she couldn't walk.
"Alright."
Alexander walked to the door and found Liam and Max rolling around on the floor, locked together.
Liam was desperately clinging to Max's sleeves and pant legs while Max struggled, pushing at Liam's face with his small hands, as if they were playing.
Alexander lifted Liam up, finally freeing Max, who sat up from the floor. His normally smooth hair was now disheveled like an explosion from Liam's manhandling.
"Liam, what are you doing!" Max stood up, hands on his hips, clearly annoyed.
Liam turned back, and seeing it was Alexander, his eyes immediately showed disappointment.
Weren't he and Grace kissing?
Was it over already?
He'd seen romantic dramas on TV where the male and female leads kissed like that, mouth to mouth! After kissing, the male lead would push the female lead down, and they'd wrestle under the covers, sleep together, and have babies.
Though he didn't understand adult romance, he knew from TV shows that male and female leads who kissed eventually ended up together forever.
So seeing Alexander and Grace kissing, he naturally didn't want Max to ruin such a wonderful thing.
He was wholeheartedly hoping Daddy and Grace would be together!
Alexander, however, thought they'd been fighting.
"No fighting allowed," Alexander said sternly. "Liam, were you bullying Max again?"
Liam pitifully poked his fingers together. He hadn't been bullying Max at all.
Max pointed at Liam. "He bullied me, he pushed me."
Liam waved his hands as if unable to explain, his watery eyes blinking innocently, his small mouth pursed like he'd suffered a great injustice.
Alexander asked, "Liam, why did you push Max?"
Liam mumbled, "Because I like him... you push people you like..."
Max and Alexander fell silent.
Liam wriggled out of Alexander's arms, stood on the floor, and copied Max's stance with hands on his hips. "You can push me too."
Max elegantly rolled his eyes. "Childish."
He gave Liam a dismissive glance, then looked suspiciously at Alexander. "What were you and my mommy doing in the room?"
Alexander replied, "Playing a game."
Liam's ears perked up, and Max asked in confusion, "What kind of game were you playing?"
Alexander couldn't be bothered to explain. "The baby-making game."
Max narrowed his eyes.
Did he think he could fool a six-year-old?
Liam shyly shuffled over and tugged at Max's sleeve.
Max asked with an unfriendly expression, "What?"
Liam hesitated bashfully. "I want to... play the baby-making game with you too..."
Max's little face immediately turned bright red, nearly spitting blood from Liam's audacity!
"Get away!" Max pushed Liam and ran toward the room with a flushed face.
But Liam followed like a little tail. "Let's make babies!"
Alexander watched with a dark expression as Liam and Max entered the room in their entangled state. Walking to the doorway, he could hear Max shouting in embarrassed fury through the door: "We can't make babies!"
Liam pestered persistently, "Why, why..."
Max brushed him off, "I'll tell you when you're older."
Liam began to whine, "No! No! Now... now..."
Alexander returned to the room where Grace sat on the bed's edge, looking mortified and somewhat angry. "What nonsense were you telling Max?"
Alexander replied, "He's still young, he doesn't understand."
Grace said, "Max is very mature. He's smart. He understands things other children don't. He knows how babies are made."
Alexander was silent for a long moment before asking, "Who taught him?"
Grace pressed her lips together. "He learned from reading books himself."
Alexander asked, "What kind of inappropriate books does he usually read?"
Grace said, "He usually reads at the library. I don't know exactly what books he reads, but he understands a lot, so... don't say such things..."
Just as she finished speaking, Liam suddenly appeared at the doorway with a protruding belly, shuffling over.
Grace was completely dumbfounded.
Liam had somehow stuffed something into his shirt, making his belly look round and full. He proudly showed Grace, "Grace, look..."
He poked his belly with his small hands.
Grace stared in bewilderment. "Liam, what is that..."
Liam beamed with pride. "There's a baby in my tummy!"
