Chapter 61: a plan
Tricia gasped for air covering her mouth immediately.
"Your mother...? She whispered.
"Yes"
"Bitch take a seat. I'll go switch of the gas. I'll be right back"
Tricia went to the kitchen, switched off the gas and returned back to me with a glass of water.
"Have some water and talk to me calmly"
"Thank you"
"Your mother is here?
"Yes she is"
"What is she doing here? To find you and hurt you the more? I know I do not know what had transpired between you two but girl, how you cried almost every night, cursing her made me realize that she did hurt you so much. Why would I meet up with a woman who hurt my bess deeply. Never"
"So you didn't meet her and you never gave her my number?
"I promise you, I didn't do any of that"
"Then, why did she say my best friend had given her my number?
"Uh...Monalisa, be honest with me"
"Yes, what is it?
"Do you have another best friend I do not know of"
"Oh please Tricia. You are my only best friend. Why did she lie to me?
"Maybe to hurt you the more or maybe...someone else met up with her and pretended to be your best friend to find out your truth"
"My...truth?
"Yes girl"
"Who could it be?
"Perhaps...Jayden's secretary on Jayden's orders"
"Athena! That's not possible"
"It is. I do not know what you did that made Jayden grow suspicious of you"
"I think I know. I do not think he is spying on me. I will have to find out who the lady she met up is"
"God luck with that"
"I'm sorry for behaving irrational earlier, accusing you"
"It's okay. I'm always ready to help you and not your mean mother"
"Thanks. I should head home now"
"Okay. I'll help you get a cab"
"No, no need for that"
"Why? I came in Jayden's car"
"He let you drive his car? That's so cool, may I see the car"
"Yes"
Tricia and I bid goodnight and I drove back.
I walked in and overheard Jayden's discussion with Athena.
"Uhmmm...Jay"
"Yes?
"Why are you telling Athena to find a good restaurant?
"That's because I won't be eating there anymore"
"Where?
"Where we had lunch"
"Why?
"Athena informed me that she had seen Cynthia in there, the day I treated out to lunch and I think she had followed us. No, she came there because she knows I have my lunch there"
"Cynthia was there!
"Yes she was there and Athena had seen her go into the ladies room. Actually, I thought you had a fight with her in there, resulting to the sudden change in your mood"
"Oh, yes. I didn't want to talk about it"
"So, the issue with Tricia?
"We already resolved it and we are cool"
"And my car?
"Parked safely in the car garage. Happy?
"Yes"
"I'll be upstairs"
I was pretty lost in thoughts. Cynthia was there and I had no idea.
I hurried to our room and shut the door and quickly dialled Tricia's number.
"Hello best friend, are you home yet?
"Yes I am and I've got something important to share with you"
"Go on. I'm all ears"
"Remembered I had told you I saw my mum at a restaurant?
"Yes you did"
"Guess what?
"Babe, I'm so terrible at guessing. Tell me"
"Well, I walked in and overheard Jayden and Athena talking on the phone. He has asked her to scout for good restaurant because Cynthia happens to know where he eats. That day I met my mum at the restaurant, Jayden had taken me out for lunch. Cynthia was there"
"Shut the fuck up! What!
"Yes. Athena had seen her come to restroom and I was with mum"
"WHAT! babe...it's crystal clear"
"What?
"Cynthia. She was the one who met up with your mum! She must have overheard your argument and decided to meet up with your mum. She pretended to be me. I'm so getting her for that. Girl, she is up to something that not good"
"What do I do?
"We have to teach her a lesson to mind her business. She is so fucking annoying. We need to put her in her place"
"But she already knows"
"Look, you're going to deal with her for giving out your number to a stranger who keeps calling you threatening to hurt Jayden"
"What! Are you insane?
"Girl, you have to be smart. That would create a doubt in her mind. she won't think of contacting your mum. She wouldn't want to do anything to hurt Jayden because she is obsessed with him"
"Correct. I agree with you. I've got a plan"
"Woooo! I'm so excited. Tell me the plan"
"I'll leave early and come pick y0u up. We'll meet mum and warn her to stay away from me. You are going to take her phone and call my number and we'll record her which is you threatening me to pay her a certain amount of money unless she exposes Jayden's marriage and hurt Jayden"
"Sounds like a plan and that bitch?
"I have a wonderful plan installed for her. She is so dead meat. Not just the company will kick her out, the world will and kick her into jail. How dare she try to mess with me"
"That's the spirit girl. See you tomorrow. Oh boy I can't wait for tomorrow to kick some butts"
"Yes. Thank you so much for your support"
"What are friends for"
"Take care and see you tomorrow"
"Night well"
I ended the call and fell back on the bed, and exhaled.
"Cynthia, You've got so much nerve to meet my mum. I wonder what she's up to. Maybe an evil plany. But then you are a dead meat. I'm going to so humiliate you, you wouldn't know what hit you!
"Hit who?
I sat up immediately, adjusting my blouse.
Uh...nothing. I'll go change into something comfortable"
I grabbed my phone and walked quickly to the closet.
"Something is fishy and I must find out what it is"
