Chapter 32: After the wedding night
Breakfast was ready and served, but the young couple, Jayden and Monalisa, was nowhere to be seen. Everyone was already heading towards the dining room to have breakfast. After waiting for a few minutes, Mr. Bruno requested Andrea to go call them down for breakfast.
Tricia, however, stood up immediately and offered to call them instead. Mr. Bruno gave a nod, and she ran off to go call Jayden and Monalisa. Tricia was thrilled to get them downstairs. She came to a halt at the door of their room and took a deep breath before knocking on the door.
She stood still and repeated the knock when she got no response. After getting no response, she decided to go in. She grabbed the door handle and quietly turned it, letting herself into their bedroom. She was marvelled by the sight she witnessed: their clothes on the floor, and both of them in each other's arms.
Tricia's cheeks turned red as she was flushed with embarrassment. She slowly and quietly left the room and shut the door. "My goodness. What a beautiful sight to behold. Maybe I should let them be. No, Sir Bruno had asked Ms. Andrea to bring them down, and I opted to go. Now I have to bring them down. I have to keep knocking until I get a response."
Tricia turned back to the door and gave it another chance by placing a knock on the door, twice. "Yes," a low voice answered from inside. "Who's there?" "Tri..." Tricia cleared her throat and immediately replied, "Tricia. Uhmm... Sir Bruno had asked me to get you two down for breakfast. Everyone is waiting. Are you coming?"
She paused for a moment to listen for footsteps, but heard none. "Hello! Are you in there? Are you coming or not? I think I should knock again." Tricia tried placing another knock when the door opened. "Oh, hi. Good morning, Mr. Jayden James Bruno. How was your night? It must have been lovely, right? I see," Tricia smiled at him.
Jayden leaned against the wall, looking slightly annoyed. "And why are you here?" he asked.
"Oh, right. Sir Bruno orders you two to come down for breakfast," Tricia replied.
"Fine. I'll grab a t-shirt on," Jayden said.
"You do not need to. It's your house," Tricia said, trying to make light of the situation.
"Not my house. You may leave. I'll be down soon," Jayden said, dismissing her.
"And Monalisa? Isn't she coming?" Tricia asked, curiosity getting the better of her.
"Tricia...?" Jayden's voice trailed off, and Tricia took the hint.
"Yes, sir. See you down soon," she said, backing away from the door.
Jayden grabbed a vest and put it on, careful not to wake Monalisa, who was fast asleep. He kissed her forehead gently and left for the dining room, shutting the door quietly behind him.
Tricia returned to the dining room and took her seat, noticing Mr. Bruno's inquiring gaze. "Oh, they're coming," Tricia replied to the unspoken question. Mr. Bruno raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Tricia's response.
"I didn't say anything," Mr. Bruno said, sipping his cup of coffee. Tricia smiled, understanding the silent communication.
"Your eyes did," she said, and Mr. Bruno stared at her, his expression unreadable.
Tricia continued with her food.
Jayden walked into the dining room, grabbing a glass of water which he gulped down. "Lovely morning, everyone," Jayden said, his eyes scanning the table for his and Monalisa's plate. Mr. Bruno's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on Jayden.
"Where is your wife?" Mr. Bruno asked, his tone firm. Jayden shrugged, nonchalant. "Oh, Monalisa? She's asleep." Mr. Bruno's expression turned disapproving.
"You didn't wake her?" he asked, his voice stern. Jayden sighed, rolling his eyes. "I didn't see the need to. Yesterday was our wedding, and she's still resting." Mr. Bruno's face turned red with annoyance.
"It's the family tradition to eat together," Mr. Bruno said, his voice firm. "She's part of the family now and must abide by the traditions." Jayden's eyes flashed with defiance.
"Ugh, give me a break, Father," Jayden said, exasperated. "Don't bother her too much. Let her rest up. Yesterday was our wedding, and we're barely a day old. You're already talking about traditions? Goodness." Jayden's voice rose in frustration.
"My food and Monalisa's food, please. I'll take them upstairs," Jayden said, his tone final. Mr. Bruno's face turned red with anger.
"No, Andrea...go get her down. And you, Jayden, take a seat," Mr. Bruno ordered. Jayden's eyes locked with his father's, a silent challenge.
"Andrea...don't move," Jayden said, his voice firm. "Father, Monalisa is an exception to your tradition, at least for today. I'll take our meal upstairs to our bedroom." Mr. Bruno's face turned purple with rage.
"Jayden...?" Mr. Bruno's voice trailed off, his eyes blazing with anger. Jayden stood his ground, unmoving.
"Did you have Andrea and William come over after their wedding night to have breakfast?" Jayden asked, his tone sarcastic. "So let this slide, I beg of you, Father." Mr. Bruno's expression softened slightly, his anger dissipating.
"Fine, then," Mr. Bruno said, his voice gruff. "You'll leave for Paris this evening for your honeymoon. I've already made preparations." Jayden's eyes widened in surprise.
"What? Paris?" Jayden exclaimed, his voice incredulous. "I object." Mr. Bruno's eyes narrowed, his expression disapproving.
"What? Bruno's voice showed surprise. "Yes, I already made preparations for my honeymoon. It's my honeymoon, so I get to choose where I want to go. I'm going to Greece," Jayden said, his tone firm.
"Greece?" Mr. Bruno repeated, his voice disbelieving. "Yes, dad, Greece," Jayden asserted. Tricia, who had been quiet until now, spoke up.
"Greece is such a cool place," Tricia said, her eyes shining with excitement. "I've heard a lot about it, and it's got lots and lots of cool and fun places. Not just that, it's got romantic places to visit. Greece is so cool, and its architecture is splendid. Monalisa would love it." Mr. Bruno's eyes flashed with annoyance.
"And who asked for your opinion, young lady?" Mr. Bruno snapped at Tricia. Tricia's face fell, and she apologized.
"My apologies, sir," Tricia said, her voice barely above a whisper. Mr. Bruno turned back to Jayden, his expression stern.
"She's right, dad," Jayden said, his tone assertive. "Greece is amazing, and I want Greece." Mr. Bruno sighed, his shoulders sagging in defeat.
"And the plans I made for you in Paris...what happens to it?" Mr. Bruno asked, his voice resigned. Jayden grinned mischievously.
"Andrea and William can go on a second honeymoon. Maybe they'll return with goodness. Hey William, take this opportunity and fuck this bitch hard. Sophie needs a baby brother " Jayden chuckled.
Andrea quickly covered Sophie's ears.
"Word, Jayden! Don't use such. Sophie is here"
"Oh please. She's fifteen, not a kid. Besides, I'm sure she knows what parents does to have kids. I'm taking my food upstairs, and hey Andrea, don't let Paris slip away " Jayden winked at her and left for his bedroom.
Jayden returned back to his bedroom and gently placed their meal on the table.
He went over to Monalisa and sat beside her. He stroked her hair and kissed her forehead.
Monalisa opened her eyes and realized Jayden sitting beside and smiled.
She slowly sat up and pulled up the duvet to cover her naked body.
"My flavour is finally up" Jayden said smiling brightly at her.
"Good morning Jay" Monalisa smiled back.
"I brought breakfast for us. It's on the table"
"That's so lovely and sweet of you. You didn't have to do that" Monalisa smiled.
"Of course I had to, especially after last night and I know you wouldn't be able to walk properly"
Monalisa flushed with embarrassment. "Oh stop it Jayden. Fine, I know, I know...you won. Congratulations"
"I already know. I'll get your food. You can have it in bed, while I have mine over there"
"We both can have breakfast together in bed"
"Ha ha. Funny. Nah, I'm not doing that shit. I only eat on the table "
"Then I'll join you "
"Monalisa, sit still."
"But babe..."
"Don't you think it's too early for you to start disobeying me? Jayden gave her a stern look. "Bad, that's so bad. You're duty bound to obey me or have you forgotten about the vows you took at the alter yesterday? So soon?
"Just for eating? Really Jayden? Really?
Jayden placed her plate beside her on the bed.
"Eat and go freshen up. You didn't take a bath last night"
"Do I stink?
"I never said so. You need it for your nerves. Now shush and eat up. I'll be having my breakfast too"
"You're mean" Monalisa pouted
" I know. Eat and stop sulking. You ain't a child. " Jayden sat back on the chair and started with his breakfast.
"Was I harsh to her right now? Do I apologize to her? Nah. I'm the man and no woman can have authority over me. Never, not even Monalisa "
