Chapter 24: Hurting
""Why can't I leave?
"Hey babe" Jayden touched her face. "I just wanted the world to know that I am in love and not just in love, but already taken, taken in by you, my woman. Why are you mad at me for expressing my love for you to the entire world "
"But Jayden..." Monalisa broke off from him. "Not now. I still have a lot to fix My parents..."
"I know. I understand you but chill babe. I prepared before hand."
"Prepared what?
"I know that you would be kinda pissed off by what I did"
"What? How do you know?
"Yes. Because you are totally different from the women of the world. Women of the world want this, they want to be known as the woman of a billionaire but then, you just want to be loved. I understand that. If you watched the interview and listened carefully to what I said...I never mentioned your name ".
"Really?
"Yes baby. Look, let's forget about these issues. it's been a long day. I am so exhausted and I need to get some rest. Since you are here, let's have dinner "
"No thanks. I should head home "
"Hey" he quickly grasped her hand and pulled her in. "Don't leave. Let's have dinner okay. Come babe"
Jayden dragged her along to the dining room
His chef was plating meal when they walked.
Jayden pulled out one of the chairs for Monalisa.
"Leave" he ordered the chef
"Why did you ask him to leave?
"I'll serve my woman tonight. One moment " Jayden hurried out to the wine rack and grabbed a bottle of wine and returned back to the dining room.
"A bottle of wine for a simple dinner?
"Yes babe. I'll pour some for you"
"No. I would be in school tomorrow. I won't be drinking. I have a note to prepare. I can't afford to get drunk"
"I'll take you home. But then, you can take a day off. You're Jayden James Bruno's woman"
"Yes I am but no one knows right?
"You got me . Fine no wine. I'll serve you "
"No need. I actually dishes out our meal"
After a lovely dinner, Monalisa bid Jayden goodnight.
Jayden ordered his chauffeur to Monalisa a ride to her house.
Tricia was excited to have Monalisa back, eager to hear what transpired between her and Jayden.
Monalisa dropped on the couch, tired.
She kicked off her shoes from her legs and began to unbutton her shirt while Tricia stood by, her arms folded against her chest.
Monalisa lifted her head and her eyes met with Tricia's eyes.
"What?
"Girl you are killing me!
"In what way?
"Tell me, what happened. You went to his house and what happened?
"Nothing happened. We talked and everything is okay."
"Really?
"Oh yes. We are okay. He made me realise that my name wasn't mentioned."
"Oh thank goodness "
"Why do you sound relieved?.
"Girl, if you check the comments under the interview, it's crazy"
"What? Well, I'm not checking them out."
"I'll fix dinner for us"
"I already had dinner"
"With him?
"Yes. At his place. I'll retire to my room to get some rest. I need to prepare a note I had promised to deliver tomorrow. Goodnight "
Cynthia was struggling to falling asleep. She kept recalling the interview and Jayden talking about not just being in love but engaged.
She sat up immediately and her glance fell on the clock.
"11pm. Too early, too late. I can't sleep. How dare you Jayden! After everything I did for you!! He used me and dumped me. who the fuck is the bitch Jayden claims to love!!
She angrily got out of her bed and marched down to her kitchen.
She pulled a bottle of wine from the cellar and popped it open.
She tried reaching out to a glass but paused.
"It tastes better when I drink directly from the bottle "
Cynthia dropped on her couch and scrolled through the news feeds on her phone.
Jayden's relationship was making headlines . Everyone was congratulating him.
Angered by the news, Cynthia smashed her phone on the floor and thrashed it with her foot.
She quickly took a huge gulp from the bottle and wiped off her mouth..
"Never!!! I said never!!! I will never let that relationship thrive. I Cynthia, will destroy that relationship!! Jayden is mine!! He is mine and mine alone!!! I do not care who the fuck she is. Whoever she is.... I'm going to take her down. I won't stand down and watch a bitch take Jayden down.!!!
The next morning, calls and texts began to flood Jayden's phone.
Jayden ignored all the calls and texts to get ready for work.
Upon arrival at the office, his staff congratulated him for his engagement.
Jayden ignored them and went straight to his office.
An hour later, Jayden realised he hasn't seen Cynthia around. He immediately called up her office and no one picked.
He called up his PA to find out where Cynthia is . His PA informed him that Cynthia wasn't at work yet.
Cared less about that, he hung up and continued with what he was doing.
Cynthia had fallen asleep on the floor with bottles of wine littered on the floor and an empty pack of cigarettes.
A beautiful blonde lady, Lily has been outside, knocking on her door. Lily, tired of knocking pulled out a key from her purse and unlocked the door and went in.
"Where is that strong stench coming from?
Lily fastened her pace only to meet Cynthia's ugly sight, snoring.
Pissed off by the sight, Lily grabbed a cushion pillows and began to hit Cynthia with it.
Cynthia tried sitting up, barely fully awake. She leaned against the couc, rubbing her eyes.
"What the fuck is going on here? Were you drinking? Why? This place stinks!
"Who is that?
"Are you still drunk girl?
"Who? Lily? Oh Lily"
"What's wrong with you?
"I'm heartbroken, Lily. My heart has been shredded into pieces of mozzarella cheese!
"By who?
"Jayden James Bruno "
"Who again? Your boss? Are you really okay? Not about heartbreak. I mean senses. Like are you okay? You were in love with him? He's your boss"
"So? Am I not allowed to fall in love? I thought he loved me too "
Lily scoffed.
"My bad , what made you think such. You two are world apart "
"Don't say that. Well, we've fucked a few times "
"Fucked? You mean had sex? That's just sex bitch. You're more or less his sexual partner, that's all. No feelings attached. Just deal with it. Besides, the news is that he's getting married. That's why you are looking like a mad lady? And you didn't go to work today?
"Well. .I was hurting"
"Hurting?
"Yes. But don't worry. I'm going to make sure that relationship lies in ruins"
Lily laughed clapping her hands.
"Wow! Quite a dreamer you are. A terrible one at that"
"What?
"Bitch, have you thought of whom the lady is? She is mostly likely to be the daughter of one of the old monies in the country. Men like Jayden get married to girls like her. It might be an arranged marriage. But trust me, they're definitely getting married "
"Thank you. You just made my day "
"In what way?.
"It's just an arranged marriage, so there's possibility of Jayden not liking her and I still got opportunities to shoot more love shots at Jayden and win him"
"You're a psycho. I ain't preaching no more. Pack up this and clean this trash. I do not want to get down and meet this sight and you, clean up. You look like a worm vomit" Lily grabbed her purse and continued to her room while Cynthia happily cleaned up, she feels she's got a chance to have Jayden to herself.
