A web of Secrets

My mother was raised in hiding, she was housed by the vampire regent and was taught how ti control and hide her gifts. when she was confident enough in her craft she left to find a life that would fit her soul, she met a wolf who was without a pack living in shifter circle. He was an outcast because his great grandfather didn't agree with the slaughtering of weaving witches and spoke out against the injustice that he was begining to witness. When she got pregnant she told him the truth about who she was and he loved her more fiercly than she thought possible. She was very inteligent and often worked odd jobs, freelancing. we lived a happy life, as i grew older both my parents were relieved that i didnt show any signs of magic. Then my wolf showed himself for the first time when i was 4 and he looked at our mother and told her, our sister wont be so lucky. My mother had a difficult pregnancy with my sister, mainly because she wasnt able to freelance anymore and had to stay in the house with the shutters closed. She started to get depressed and would cry for hours, that my father finally sent her away to live with the cardona family again, I remember traveling there a few times, but the most memorable time was when i went for the birth of my sister. When my mother screamed, the clouds would darken and hail would hit the windows, i remeber being terrified. i had never seen my mothers magic manifest in this way. when it became time for her to push, she would shift the very ground that the house had been standing on. The cardona family have a very good standing with a lot of witches, and thanfully some had been there to help shield the world from the birth of my sister. when she finally came out of my mother's body, she wailed and screamed until my ears started to bleed, but when ,my father picked her up, she stopped crying and stared at him wiht so much love in her eyes. My mother and sister Amina lived with the cardonas for a time, Libbah had been staying with the king and the Regent ended up sending away the rest of her coven to a holiday retreat. I know she did that to protect my sister as she grew up, my father and i would visit every weekend, and every holiday. It wasnt until Amina was old enought to control her magic and hide it from the world that her and my mother were able to move back home. It wasnt easy though, Amina didnt like how contrained she had to be, she hated how the other shifters treated witches and we often got into fights because of it. We were partners in crime her and I, then one day, she came up to me and say you want to place a bet. So i told her, depends on what the reward is. to which she said, if you win the bet, i'll do whatever you say i have to do for the next two years. i laughed and told her, that sounded more like a trap then a bet. So she smiles at me and says thats just cause your'e scared." Alpha Fiir stops talking as he remembers his sisters face, the mischeveous way she looked at him as she held her hands behind her back. his heart breaks as he remebers the last day he every saw his sister. " Dad, you ok.?" *ive never seen him like this before, even his wiere spirit is quiet and hes never quiet.* " *S*o i aked her, what do you get if you win the bet? and she says, You have to go to Alpha trials and really give it your all. then i really laughed, as you know only alphas are invited ot the trials, specifically only alphas who are a part of packs, although i am an alpha, my father wasnt one. He was so proud the day he discovered my wolf was a high rank he didnt even bother to question how it couldve happened. he just assumed it was due to my mothers magic. so of course i laughed at her, and asked so whats the bet? To which she replied, ' i bet your'e an important wolf, and youre going to become alpha of one of the great packs someday. So then i really laughed at her. and said well i hope youre going to enjoy being my servant for the next two years little sister. Your magic may be strong but its not that string. then i saw what was behind her back, it was a letter from your grandfather, her cousin. In that letter he had stated that he heard about a woman who had two children, A girl without a wolf, and a boy born an alpha to a low ranking wolf. So he had inquired about them, and found that she was infact, the niece his father had been searching for, decendant to the staghorn royalty and princess of the Fiir pack. He asked for her to consider moving to the Fiir lands and allowing him to train her son as his heir, he would change our names to Fiir, as all men do when marring into the ruling packs. i was shocked at what i was reading. me, a wolf raised in shifter circle, heir to one of the most powerful packs known to us. when i looked up at my sister again, her smile was a little dimmer, and her eyes held unshed tears as she said, remember, i won the bet, so you have to go now. i didnt understand why she was so sad, we were moving to the Fiir pack, she could be free again. then she told me that our mother refused. that she sent a letter to her uncle stating there was too much darkness in her soul to ever step foot in a place that failed her mother, her grandmother. That she would not subject her daughter to the ridicule and shame she would face from the other wolves. Her last line in the letter accordign to my sister said, but i will not harm my family by preventing you from an heir, i will send my son to you, please care for my first born as he is your own flesh. When i got home, my mother had already packed my bags, she had tears streaming from her eyes and the only words she said to me were, its for the best. you belong with our family, you were born for this. That night my father pulled my to the side and hugged me tightly telling me hes never been prouder to have been his father. That even though i will carry my mothers name, i was also a Burk, and he was grateful to have me as his son. I didnt see my sister again though. I looked for her in all of our usual places, i called out her name until the moon was high in the sky. when i went home and told my parents, they told me to not worry, that she had wanted it this way to make it easier for me. i waited for her the next day, but she never came to wish me goodbye. I ended up going straight to alpha trials after that, thats when i met your uncle Hal, we were roomates in the dorms and i knew instantly that he wasnt built to be a leader. he was too kind, too gentle, couldnt make up his mind and was nervous around controntation. his wolf was too gentle. he made the first year worthwhile. If it wasnt for your uncle Hal, i would have ran away from trainging. In the First month of me being there i recieved a letter stating that my father had been killed by another wolf while defending my sister. My mother was so depressed that she began blaiming my sister, saying she was too opinionated, and if she had just kept her head down my father would still be alive. My mother sent me a letters periodically, mostly to complain about Amina, then i got this journal and a few other items in the mail from non other than my sister. Amina never wrote to me or sent me anything. she always had my mom put in a few words for her when she sent her own. So i was surprised to get anything from her but i was also very happy. i missed her, in the package there was a small slip of paper that said, remeber out bet, and the birth certificate of our mother. My mother had died. I knew thats why she sent the birth certificate. That year my uncle officially adopted me as his son, and people eventually forgot that i wasnt born here on the Fiir lands. I passed Alpha school with high marks and came to live on the Fiir lands, your mother had been away studying and came back home for the holidays, and thats when i knew i was meant to be here all along, if only so that i would meet your mom. After we had you i found a package in my office, there was no address and no one knew where it had come from. i asked everyone and no one could tell me who had delivered it. it wasnt until i smelt the box that i knew, i had lost my siser, this was her death box, spelled to reach me or my next of kin when she passed on. my heart broke into a million pieces that i wasnt there to protect my baby sister. i ripped open the box and found baby socks, another journal, her birth certificate, and a picture of a sonogram. there was no name, no date or hopsital where it was taken. Just a small note. The note said, one day she will need you, and when you meet her you will know why i stood away. When she came into the the groudn moved and the skies opened up and brought down stars. When you meet her, do as mother's cousin did for you. I've missed you everyday. I want you to know that I lived a happy life, had a loving husband. Im sorry im making you work to find her. It is how the celestials said it must happen. everything will find you when the time is right. i now live in your heart dear brother. im sorry i didnt visit you before, im sorry for a lot of things. love your sister. " Balsa stares at his fathers tear stricken face with his own tears in his eyes. " What did you do?" Alpha fiir wipes his eyes at his sons question. " I told your mom my story, and we vowed to never hold secrets. she began helping me try and track down your mother but we had no ties to and so we vowed to never bring up my upbringing ever again, not until i found my own niece. the same way my uncle searched for his.
