Chapter 16 Chapter Sixteen
Chapter 16 Chapter Sixteen
Camila's POV
Blood.
I kept scrubbing my palm until the water washing down on them became red. Only when the sizzling pain reached the peak did I stop. I punched the towering mirror that threw back my reflection at me but it didn't shatter, instead my knuckles turned crimson and hurt as well.
‘Demon from Hades!’ I hiss, cursing at Marco.
After storming off from his company, I came home feeling relieved that I vented out my frustration and at the same time irritated that my hand came in contact with his rotting skin.
‘You should strangle him in his sleep.’ I encouraged myself, imagining him fighting for his miserable life.
I stepped into the bathtub and immersed myself under water and held my breath attempting to blur out the horrible images of Owen I saw but it ended in adrenaline kicking in and me sticking my head up for some hair.
Running my hands through my hair again and again and letting out sharp breaths at intervals didn't loosen my tightened jaws or stiffened shoulders. I gave in to the frustration, put on a bathrobe and headed back to the room only to see the devil himself pacing around my room, slowly.
We exchanged few words and I didn't hold back, I cursed at him as loudly as I can but the stupid grin of his face and smug expression only worsened and my nightmare started when he pinned me against the war, forcefully kissing me.
“Remember your place Camila. I can easily take you out of this world and ruin any evidence of your existence, and your father's. I'd be careful if I were you.” he lightly said before exiting the room.
My eyes squeezed shut for a second too long and I burst into tears, I slumped further to the ground, no longer bothered to hide my hitching breath. I let it pour freely, the humiliation was becoming unbearable and I had no idea for how long I could hold on.
I had no idea how long I remained in that position, I didn't even bother to knot the rope of what I wore, what's left of me that hasn't been humiliated?
The next time I woke up, it was morning and a heavy wave of headache hit me. I almost fell asleep and I staggered to my feet. I popped some painkillers in my mouth and wore a decent dress, headed downstairs to get some food as my stomach rumbled nonstop.
Marco was there and as usual, accompanied with the thugs he associated with, there were bloodstains on the collar of his shirt, his knuckles were red and he spoke in hushed tones, briefly pausing when he sighted me and I couldn't care less.
“I hope you've learnt your lesson Camila, don't forget to make me some breakfast too.” He called out.
“I already told you, pets don't cook.” I retorted, calmly.
“Do as I say else-”
“The worst you can do is lock me up and beat me senseless. If I survive it once, I'll do so again.” I interjected and walked past him.
He didn't argue or say a word, he just left. Weird but good. Let him bring on his worst, I still won't be broken. I silently ate my breakfast and moaned at my misfortune. I've been fired at my old job so I have to start job hunting all over again and I was going to start that same day, let Marco break my bones and feed me to the wolves, I won't give him the pleasure of seeing me beg for mercy.
When I returned home from job hunting, it was almost dusk and being exhausted would be an understatement of how I felt. I got no real job offers but a kind woman offered to pay me stipends if I would be a server at her small restaurant which I had no idea but agree to.
I freshened up and came back downstairs to the kitchen to fix myself some dinner and hopefully get some nice and quiet before the devil brings chaos into the house.
“Hey, you! Is Marco back yet?” A masculine voice rang out and I looked up to see a man probably in his late twenties, he dressed expensively yet with reckless abandon.
“No.” I replied, quietly and continued eating.
“Do you know when your boss will be back?” He further asked.
I shrugged. “I have no idea, call him.”
He dialed a number on his phone and spoke in hushed tones, not that I was interested in whatever he's saying, judging from his look; he's another despicable friend of Marco.
A maid passed by and greeted him. Good grief, I just hurried up and finished eating so I can get away from him.
“I'm famished, make me some edible food.” He ordered, snapping his fingers at me.
“I'm retiring for the night, you can wait for your friend until he gets back.” I plainly informed him and got up to leave but he was swift and blocked my path. “Please step aside, the chef will attend to your needs.”
If there's anything I know, it's that Marco and his friends are nothing but trouble and it's best to avoid them.
He snorted arrogantly. “Since when do maids talk back to me? Has Marco gone soft or something? It seems you're new here, I've never seen you here before.”
“I'll send a maid to get you some food.” I replied in a monotonous tone and tried to step aside but he still stood in my way.
His lips suddenly curled into a crooked smile as he reached for my face and tucked strands of hair covering part of my face behind my ear.
“What are you doing?”
“This one looks better than the others, when did Marco start hiring maids based on their looks? Do you warm his bed?” he asked, suggestively and I slapped his hand away.
“Don't touch me.” I sneered, disdainfully.
He guffawed. “You've got balls.”
He leaned in and I could smell the stench of alcohol in his breath. I shoved him aside and began to leave. I wanted to get away from him as fast as I could but I barely made it two steps before I felt a pull in my hair.
“Ahhh!” I yelled as I jerked backwards so violently that I almost fell.
The bastard maximized the opportunity to grab my butt like it was a peach and anger surged through me. I raised my hand to slap him but he caught it in midair and smirked.
“Quite a wildcat you are, you're in luck because I loveCrack.
men feisty..” He confessed, revealing a crooked smile that disgusted me.
“Let go of me!” I shrieked but he overpowered me.
“Quit fighting back and let's have fun.” he laughed, leaning in to kiss me but I turned my face away, panic surged through me as I twisted my hand, trying to break free, I clawed at him but it didn't deter him even a bit.
“Let go of me!” I gasped, my voice began to crack.
“Why should I?” he muttered as his eyes fixated on my lips, his sinister smile becoming wider, I shoved against his chest to no avail. “How about you put in this energy when riding me?”
“Please.” My voice choked, barely audible over his lustful intentions, his hand trailed over my boobs and I shut my eyes, my heart pounding loudly in my ears as a tear slid down my cheeks.
“Anthony?”
My eyes flew open and though I never expected the day would come when the sight of Marco would bring me relief, it did. Anthony, taken aback by the sudden interruption, loosened his grip on me and I took the chance to push him away and escape from him.
I ran straight to Marco and threw myself in his embrace. I sobbed against his chest, burying myself in the safety he provided and my body trembled. Marco might be my worst nightmare yet I clutched him tightly. “He tried to force himself on me.” I ranted, breathing heavily.
“Anthony……is that true?’ Marco queried.
“C'mon, the maid is now reporting me? She's got a killer body and seductive eyes Marco, what do you expect me to do?”
The room fell silent, only the sound of me trying to stabilize my breathing could be heard. Marco slowly yet gently tore me away from himself and looked me in the eye. I saw his expression soften and my heart shifted at that moment.
He then looked at his friend and I could feel the tension in his gaze. I half-smiled, maybe there's a bit of humanity left in him?
Crack!
I froze as Marco struck me hard on the face, all the words in my throat died instantly.
“How dare you! It seems I've been too lenient with you. What delusional audacity assured you that I would scold him for messing around with you?” Marco thundered, his eyes held no warmth.
“What?” I gasped and watched as he glanced at Anthony like he just cracked an inside joke only Anthony could understand.
“Anthony, do you really have bad taste in women? She's my slave, worthless and disgusting, I wonder how you could stoop as low as finding her attractive.” Marco continued, every word slicing through my heart.
I staggered a few steps backwards, letting out a muffled sigh.
“I thought I'd just cleanse my palate a little.” Anthony replied, folding his arms in a relaxed manner.
Marco turned slightly away from me and motioned for Anthony, the two began to walk away.
“He tried to assault me and I got blamed?” I asked calmly, letting a few tears drop.
Marco snorted. “Clean up the mess you made and apologize to him.”
“of course, it's my punishment for ever thinking you are human.” I spat.
“That's what you get for thinking. I've told you Camila, know your place.” He coldly retorted as his cold unflinching eyes threw me a disdainful look then he finally walked away with Anthony.
My body went limp and my hand lingered on my reddened cheek, my eyes let down a downpour of tears as the world went quiet and I grieved.
‘Dad, how do I pay off this debt I owe the devil himself and just for how long can I burn just to save you from this fire?’
