"I don't think that's necessary."
Eula had no interest in meeting Lance's friends. She had just admitted to liking someone, and changing her mind so quickly would make Samantha think she was fickle.
Unfortunately, Samantha and Deanna were unaware of her thoughts.
At this moment, the two of them insisted in rare agreement, "The photos are already here, there's no harm in looking."
"Samantha is right, Miss Eula, take a look. Besides, Lance said if you fancy anyone, he will personally introduce you and solve any difficulties you might have," Deanna said with a bright smile.
Although it was somewhat unethical, this moment was the best she had felt in days. After all, Eula always flaunted her life-saving grace in front of her.
She wasn't a saint and couldn't help but feel annoyed.
Seeing the smile on Deanna's face, Eula knew she was being mocked for her predicament. Yet, she couldn't find the words to retort.
Samantha noticed Eula's silence and gestured to Deanna, "Hand the photos to Eula and introduce them to her. By the way, you know all of Lance's friends, right?"
Samantha had no other intention with her last question; she just worried that Deanna, who rarely socialized with Lance, might not be familiar with them.
Fortunately, Deanna didn't overthink it and responded with a light smile, "I should know them all. Lance introduced me to his friends at previous parties."
"Good, then start introducing them to Eula. If there's anything you're unsure about, you can ask me," Samantha said as she elegantly sipped from the cup on the coffee table.
Deanna's lips curled into a mischievous smile as she began introducing the photos to Eula.
Lance's friends were undeniably attractive. However, Eula had no interest in any of them. Listening to Deanna's enthusiastic introductions only made her feel more frustrated.
Finally, unable to bear it any longer, Eula discreetly pinched her wound. The sudden pain changed her expression, and she quickly said weakly, "Miss Jones, my wound suddenly hurts. I think I need to rest in the guest room. We can discuss the photos later."
"Does it hurt? Should we call a doctor?" Samantha asked with concern.
Although she didn't want Eula to interfere with her son's relationship with his fiancée, she hadn't forgotten that Eula had saved her son's life.
Deanna also scrutinized Eula. Given that Eula's wound had healed after so many days of rest, it shouldn't hurt without reason. That left only one possibility: Eula had deliberately hurt herself again.
The realization darkened Deanna's expression.
Eula noticed Deanna's unfriendly gaze and knew she had been found out. She quickly said guiltily, "No need for a doctor. It's just that the wound feels itchy and painful as it heals. I'll feel better lying down."
"I see. I'll have someone escort you to the guest room," Samantha said without suspicion and arranged for two servants to help.
Soon, only Samantha and Deanna were left in the living room.
Watching the mother and son sitting nearby and talking quietly, Samantha couldn't help but recall what she had overheard in the hallway earlier.
After some thought, she said, "Deanna, it's getting late. I'll have someone take Gregory and Chloe upstairs to wash up and rest. You can accompany me for a walk in the garden; I ate several pastries earlier and feel a bit bloated."
"Do you need some digestive tablets?" Deanna asked with concern.
The two children were also very considerate. "I know where the digestive tablets are; I'll get them for Grandma," they said as they ran off to fetch the medicine box.
Eating the tablets brought by her grandchildren and drinking the water they handed her, Samantha felt warmth in her heart and her expression grew even more loving and gentle.
"Such good kids. Grandma is fine now; you two go upstairs and wash up," she said.
"Okay, goodnight Grandma," they replied obediently before disappearing up the stairs with the servants.
Once they were out of sight, Samantha turned her attention back to Deanna. "Let's go for a walk in the garden," she said.
Hearing this, Deanna felt a stir in her heart and nodded as she followed.
In the garden, the dim yellow streetlights worked diligently, adding a hazy beauty to the surroundings.
After walking a short distance with Samantha, Deanna heard a sigh.
"These days must have been hard on you," Samantha said as she continued walking.
Hearing this confirmed Deanna's suspicions: Samantha had seen through Eula's true nature.
With this in mind, Deanna responded softly, "It's actually not that bad since she doesn't dare go too far."
"Why didn't you tell Lance about this?" Samantha asked, stopping to look at her.
This was something she couldn't understand when she first discovered the situation.
