If Emily were here, she would have recognized the angry man as the mysterious person she had contacted before.
In the room, besides the blond man, there were three others, both men and women.
"Alright, now is not the time to be angry, let's discuss the important matters," said the only woman among them.
The others nodded in agreement upon hearing this. "Right, there's no need to get upset over a minor family. Once we successfully obtain the antidote, if you're still not satisfied, we can destroy the Mercer family too."
The blond man, hearing this, chose not to continue his tirade.
They then began to discuss their main agenda.
"With the Mercer family in disarray and Lance encountering trouble in international waters, now is the best time to seize the antidote. We should get Brent to act."
"Brent's move is fine, but we also need to keep an eye on Gunner. We can't let that old man mess up our plans again!"
"Once we have the antidote, Gunner will be useless to us. We might as well deal with him directly. As for the assets of the Martinez family, we can divide them among ourselves."
Everyone agreed with this suggestion.
Deanna was even unaware of the troubles facing the domestic Mercer family. Despite this, she felt increasingly uneasy as time passed.
Before she could investigate what was happening, she received a call from Logan.
"Deanna, can you contact Lance?"
"Is something wrong?"
Hearing Logan's serious tone on the phone made her heart skip a beat.
Logan didn't hide anything and briefly explained, "There's been an issue at the company, and I can't reach Lance. If you can contact him, have him call me immediately. I have something important to discuss with him."
"I understand. I'll find Lance right now."
After hanging up, Logan put down his phone and Samantha immediately looked over with concern, "What did Deanna say?"
"She's going to contact Lance. I guess they have some way of contacting each other that we don't know about."
Logan frowned but felt something was off.
If Lance had another way to be contacted, Xavier, as Lance's personal assistant, should know about it. He felt like he was missing something.
At the same time, Deanna dialed a number she had found on her phone.
Unbeknownst to her, as soon as she dialed, the phone rang on Xavier's end.
Seeing the number displayed on his screen made Xavier panic.
Indeed, for the past few days, Xavier had been impersonating Lance and texting Deanna.
As for Lance, he had been in trouble five days ago.
Before the incident, Lance had instructed his confidant to inform Xavier not to tell Deanna about it.
Thus, Xavier came up with this risky idea of impersonation.
Of course, he now dared not answer Deanna's call as it would blow his cover.
He decisively hung up and texted back in Lance's tone.
"I'm busy right now. What's up?"
"Lance, there's been a serious issue at the company. Your father said he can't reach you. Please call your father immediately."
Deanna's reply came quickly.
Xavier read it and felt overwhelmed.
Somehow, he had a feeling that he couldn't keep hiding Lance's situation much longer.
Indeed, that was the case.
After waiting an hour without a call from Lance, Logan called Deanna again.
"Deanna, have you reached Lance? Why hasn't he contacted me yet?"
"Lance hasn't contacted you? He said he would."
Deanna was surprised.
Logan sensed something was wrong and asked sternly, "How did you contact Lance?"
Hearing this, Deanna didn't hide anything. "I used another contact method for Lance... Maybe I should send it to you."
Only then did she realize that Logan didn't have Lance's new contact information.
This realization made her feel even more uneasy.
Before she could think further, Logan's cold voice came through the phone.
"Then please send me that contact information."
"Okay," Deanna responded and sent over Lance's new number.
After putting down her phone, she felt increasingly uneasy.
In a flash of insight, a terrible suspicion arose in her mind, turning her face pale.
Could Lance be in trouble?
Deanna thought about how recently she had called and video-called Lance without him ever picking up; he only texted her back.
If nothing was wrong, why wouldn't Lance answer her calls or video calls?
The more Deanna thought about it, the more she felt she might have guessed the truth, but she still needed confirmation.
The next second, she walked out of her room with a determined face, ready to confront Xavier for answers.
Xavier was unaware that Deanna had already guessed the truth and was on her way to find him.
At that moment, his phone rang with a call from the company chairman, making him feel even worse.
But he didn't dare to hang up; instead, he answered the call.
Again, Lance had only instructed him not to let the missus know the truth; he hadn't said anything about hiding it from the chairman and others.
"Mr. Mercer."
After connecting the call, Xavier spoke nervously.
Logan, anxious and not noticing anything odd in his tone, demanded, "Why are you answering? Put Lance on!"
"... Mr. Lance has had an accident."
Xavier paused for a few seconds before speaking gravely.
He didn't wait for Logan to ask further and explained proactively, "Five days ago, Mr. Lance was dealing with private matters abroad and encountered a disaster at sea. The boat sank with everyone on board and they haven't been found yet. Before the incident, Mr. Lance instructed that what happened there should be kept from the missus temporarily, so she doesn't know about these events."
This explained why Deanna had been able to contact 'Lance' before.
After hearing this, Logan's breathing became heavy.
It took him a while to steady his emotions; his voice hoarse as he said, "I should have realized that if Lance wasn't reachable, something must have happened. I don't care how you do it; you must find Lance for me-alive or dead. I'll also arrange for people to help you!"
"What about the company..."
"Don't worry about the company; I'm still here. It's not anyone else's place to meddle with Mercer Group. Your priority now is to find Lance!"
Logan didn't wait for Xavier to finish speaking and ordered sternly.
