After discussing business, Lance and Eula left the study to make preparations.
Lance returned to his room and mentioned that he would be away for a few days. However, he didn't say it was to handle matters of power; he simply mentioned that there was a collaboration issue between a neighboring country and Eula's company that required their attention.
Deanna, not suspecting anything, advised, "Be careful when you go out, remember to take care of yourself, and eat and take your medicine on time."
Yes, after nursing him back to health, Deanna began treating Lance's hidden ailments. The treatment was divided into three stages. The first stage involved taking medicine to let Lance's body absorb the medicinal properties automatically.
Seeing the concern on her face, Lance nodded, "I know. You take care of yourself too. I'll leave Xavier here."
After a bit of affectionate exchange, Eula came over to inform them that everything was ready for departure.
The group headed to a vast grassy area deep within the estate where a helicopter was waiting.
Reluctantly, Deanna bid farewell to Lance, "Remember to take care of yourself."
Eula stood nearby, feeling annoyed. Without waiting for Lance to speak, she smiled and said, "Miss Jones, don't worry. I'll take good care of Lance."
Hearing this, Deanna looked up and saw the provocation in Eula's eyes. However, Deanna wasn't angry; she even replied mischievously, "Thank you, Miss Eula. Please help me ensure Lance takes his medicine and eats on time every day. He tends to forget when he's busy. If it weren't for Xavier before, I wouldn't have felt comfortable letting him travel alone."
Deanna's words were clever. Not only did she defuse Eula's provocation, but she also subtly implied that Eula was just an assistant like Xavier.
Eula understood the underlying message and was furious. To avoid showing her anger in front of Lance, she agreed to Deanna's request and boarded the helicopter under the pretense of checking the luggage.
Deanna didn't mind and turned her gaze back to Lance. Seeing his oblivious expression made her both amused and exasperated. How could this usually sharp man be so insensitive to a woman's feelings for him?
Though she couldn't figure it out, Deanna couldn't help but vent her frustration on Lance. "Remember to video call me every night. If you miss a day, you'll see what happens when you get back!"
Lance found her sudden anger inexplicable but agreed good-naturedly.
A few minutes later, as he boarded the helicopter, Deanna stepped back and watched it take off. Even after it disappeared from sight, she was reluctant to leave.
She suddenly realized that she missed Lance as soon as he left.
Seeing this, Xavier respectfully approached and advised, "Missus, let's go back. Mr. Mercer will return in a few days."
"I know," Deanna nodded and slowly walked back.
On the way, she curiously asked, "Mr. Nelson, how long have you been with Lance?"
"I met Mr. Mercer in college. It's been almost ten years," Xavier answered honestly and then looked at her curiously, "Why do you ask, missus?"
Deanna replied lightly, "Just curious."
Then she shifted the topic, "So you've known Miss Eula for almost ten years too?"
"More or less. Are you trying to find out about Miss Eula?" Xavier was quick to catch on to Deanna's intentions.
Seeing her thoughts exposed, Deanna didn't hide it and nodded openly, "Yes, I want to know about her. Can you tell me?"
"Of course. The president has instructed me to tell you whatever you want to know," Xavier nodded and began sharing information about Eula.
Deanna listened attentively while feeling sweet inside about Lance's foresight in making such arrangements.
Meanwhile, in Cloudmere at the Howard family estate.
Raphael and Emily returned three days after the business conference ended. During this time, Emily took Raphael to meet a mysterious person. However, the mysterious person only met with Raphael.
Whatever was discussed between them remained unknown, but after returning home, Raphael became extremely busy. If he hadn't come home every few days, Emily would have almost forgotten about him.
One day, she finally got word that Raphael would be coming home and waited in her room.
Late at night, Raphael finally returned and saw Emily sitting on the bed. He frowned slightly and said coldly, "Why are you still awake so late?"
