As the two talked, they quickly arrived at the entrance of the banquet hall.
After checking their invitations, the doorman announced, "Chiaz Mercer Group Lance and his fiancee Miss Deanna have arrived!"
Deanna was stunned; it was her first time experiencing such an announcement.
Inside the banquet hall, the lively chatter came to a halt as everyone turned to look at the entrance, more specifically at Deanna.
Many of those present had considered marrying their daughters to Lance. Over the years, every attempt had been met with Lance's firm rejection, regardless of the methods they used. Thus, they were very surprised and curious about Lance's sudden fiancee.
Deanna forced herself not to be intimidated by the gazes of these influential figures. She calmly walked into the banquet hall with Lance. Her composed demeanor surprised many of the big shots present, as few women could remain so calm under their scrutiny. It was clear that Lance's choice of fiancee was exceptional.
However, some young socialites looked at Deanna with malice and jealousy, especially those who had been rejected by Lance in the past. Deanna noticed these hostile gazes and saw several beautiful socialites glaring at her as if they wanted to devour her. Clearly, they were jealous.
Deanna didn't mind them; instead, she felt a bit proud. After all, the man she chose was so outstanding that many others coveted him.
As Lance and Deanna entered the venue, familiar acquaintances soon approached them for conversation. While they discussed business collaborations and global economics, Deanna stood quietly beside Lance, smiling faintly without speaking.
After some time, Lance finally had a moment to himself. He turned to Deanna and gently asked, "Are you tired? Do you want to rest over there?"
Deanna looked in the direction he pointed and saw a resting area. She nodded slightly.
Just as they were about to head to the resting area, a seductive voice came from behind them.
"What, Lance, you're leaving just as I arrive?"
A tall woman with a typical Espuenia beauty walked over in a black tight-fitting dress. As she moved, her long, slender legs peeked out from under her skirt, exuding both allure and coolness.
Lance stopped when he heard the voice and turned to look at the approaching woman. "Long time no see, Eula," he said indifferently.
"It has been a long time. But if you hadn't been avoiding me lately, we wouldn't have gone so long without seeing each other," Eula replied with a hint of resentment in her voice.
She then turned her gaze to Deanna, her blue eyes darkening slightly. With a playful tone, she said, "Lance, you're not being fair. No wonder you've been rejecting my invitations lately; you've been prioritizing your fiancee over your old friend."
Without waiting for Lance's reaction, she extended her hand to Deanna and said gracefully, "Hello, I'm Eula, Lance's confidante and business partner. I didn't expect Lance to bring you to this business conference, so I didn't prepare a gift. I hope you don't mind. Next time we meet, I'll make up for it. By the way, this is the first time in over ten years that I've seen another woman beside Lance. I used to doubt his sexual orientation and even sent him a couple of cute sweethearts, but he rejected them."
"Eula, you're talking too much," Lance interrupted with a dark expression.
Deanna blinked, a bit taken aback by Eula's familiarity. She had thought Eula was a cold and aloof woman when they first met. However, she was now extremely curious about what Eula had said about Lance's past. She never imagined Lance had such a history.
Eula noticed Lance's displeasure but remained unfazed, smiling politely. "Too much? I think it's fine. Besides, isn't this lady your fiancee? As your fiancee, she has the right to know these things about your past, don't you think?"
The last sentence was directed at Deanna.
Deanna nodded cooperatively. "Miss Eula is right."
She then turned to Lance with a teasing smile. "As your fiancee, I want to know everything about your past."
