Chapter 83 Don't Count on Me to Save You

The police left, and Amelia went back home too.

The house was in a mess, and they didn't know what to do.

Deanna felt gloomy and let out a long sigh.

She was really unlucky, one trouble after another.

Old Ashley looked around anxiously and asked, "Deanna, what should we do?"

There wasn't a single usable piece of furniture in the whole house; it was uninhabitable.

Gregory and Chloe came over sensibly, hugging her to give her warmth.

Deanna sighed and said, "Let's tidy up first; we don't even have a place to stay."

Old Ashley nodded and helped her clean up the mess.

They swept the floor clean and threw the furniture debris into the trash can.

Gregory and Chloe also came to help, taking out the trash downstairs.

After tidying up, the house instantly felt empty.

Old Ashley sat exhausted on the bed, feeling powerless.

Deanna walked over and whispered, "Grandma, let's tidy up later and see if there are any clothes we can wear. We'll stay in a hotel tonight; it's not convenient here at home."

She glanced roughly at the wardrobe and found a few clothes that weren't too damaged and could still be worn.

Although the dryer was smashed, there were a few clothes inside that had been washed, luckily spared from damage.

Old Ashley nodded but choked back tears. "How did this happen to our home?"

First, Chloe and Gregory got injured one after another, and now this happened to their house.

Deanna remained silent, her eyes dark.

If this was indeed intentional sabotage, other than Raphael and the Jones family, she couldn't think of anyone else.

Besides them, she hadn't had any conflicts with anyone.

Her gaze turned dark, her fists clenched.

First, almost causing Gregory and Chloe to drop out of kindergarten, and now trouble came knocking at their door.

They seemed to be intending to push her to the edge.

However, she had no evidence at the moment to prove it was them.

She closed her eyes, gritting her teeth, suppressing her anger.

For now, all she could do was endure.

"Deanna, who do you think could have done this?"

Old Ashley calmed down and sighed, asking.

"The police will investigate it thoroughly."

Deanna pondered for a moment but didn't say anything to avoid worrying her grandmother.

They quickly packed their bags and went to the hotel to check-in.

The two children held two small kittens and walked silently.

The kittens were unusually well-behaved, not meowing, just snuggling silently in their owners' arms, comforting them silently.

Today, when they went for a walk, the two children impulsively brought the two kittens along.

Old Ashley indulged them and agreed.

It was thanks to this that the two cute little pets were spared.

Meanwhile, Emily was at home applying a face mask.

The phone rang, and without even looking, she picked it up.

"Hello?"

She lazily answered.

The person on the other end spoke in a low voice, "Miss Jones, everything has been taken care of. When will you give us the final payment you promised?"

They didn't identify themselves but made Emily's eyes narrow with a smile.

Upon hearing this, she chuckled, "You guys did a good job; I'll send the money right away."

Naturally, she wouldn't shortchange them.

The person on the other end breathed a sigh of relief, knowing they weren't cheated.

The smile faded from Emily's face, replaced by a sinister glint in her eyes.

She changed the subject, ominously reminding, "However, after this, you should know what to do, right?"

Without waiting for a reply, she nonchalantly gestured, "Hide well. If anything happens, don't expect me to save you."

She wouldn't leave any loose ends in her actions.

After a moment of silence, the other side replied with two words: "Understood."

Hanging up the phone, Emily wiped off the face mask with satisfaction, letting out a cold laugh.

"Deanna, do you think you can compete with me?"

She snorted, propping her long legs on the sofa, looking smug.

At noon, Deanna and her family had a simple lunch at the hotel.

She couldn't taste the food and kept frowning, her mind heavy.

"Mummy, what are you thinking about?"

Chloe put down her chopsticks and asked.

She replied, "I'm thinking about finding a house."

She wanted to rent a new place; the old one was no longer safe.

After all, she had to consider the safety of her family.

Chloe wanted to ask more, but she didn't elaborate further.

After all, the housing hadn't been finalized yet, and she didn't want them to worry.

Old Ashley knew she was worried, sighed softly, and didn't say anything more.

Later, Deanna went to the bathroom and called Julia.

"Julia, could you help me find a house? I'm planning to find a new place to rent. It's better to be in this area, in a community with a higher safety factor."

After all, she still had the medicine garden to take care of, so it wasn't convenient to move too far away.

Julia asked concernedly, "Why do you want to move?"

She sighed and replied, "My house was vandalized."

Julia was shocked to hear this.

As soon as she got off work, Julia rushed to the hotel where they were staying to visit them.

After confirming that they were all safe, Julia finally felt relieved.

She breathed a sigh of relief and said to Deanna, "Deanna, I've already started looking for a house for you. There should be results by tomorrow."

Deanna looked at her gratefully, "Thank you, Julia."

Julia waved her hand and said, "Why are you being so polite to me? We're good friends!"
