"Over the years, the special medicine has always been controlled by foreign countries. Our people have to pay exorbitant fees to use it, and sometimes we even have to beg them submissively for it. If we have our own special medicine, these situations will no longer exist!"
Deanna's eyes grew brighter and more excited as she spoke.
Lionel, hearing these words, felt a surge of passion and made a quick decision. "Since you chose to stay, how can I be a deserter? Let's develop the special medicine together and teach those arrogant foreigners a lesson!"
"Yes, and then we'll lower the price of the special medicine so much that those foreigners who want to make money from it will lose everything!"
Deanna responded with equal enthusiasm.
As the two joked, the previously heavy atmosphere dissipated.
After discussing business, Lionel's examination report was almost ready.
The doctor confirmed he was fine and allowed him to be discharged.
Leaving the hospital, Deanna prepared to take Lionel home.
On the way, Lionel remembered something and looked at Deanna hesitantly.
Noticing his expression, Deanna asked curiously, "Mr. Grant, do you have something to say to me?"
"Well, Miss Jones, I heard you have a close friend named Julia?"
Lionel hesitated for a few seconds before speaking.
Deanna was a bit surprised. "Yes, I have a close friend named Julia. But Mr. Grant, how did you know?"
"Uh, during the social gathering, I talked to Miss King for a bit... Miss Jones, could you give me Miss King's contact information?"
Lionel's eyes showed a hint of guilt as he finished speaking.
That night at the social gathering, he and Miss King had more than just a brief conversation; unexpected things had happened.
Unfortunately, Deanna didn't notice Lionel's expression and instead thought about Julia's awkwardness when she visited a few days ago.
It seemed something had developed between them without her knowing.
Even so, Deanna didn't bypass her friend and give out the contact information.
"I need to ask Julia first. If she agrees, I'll give you her contact information."
"Of course. Thank you, Miss Jones."
Lionel nodded in agreement.
Deanna couldn't help but gossip a bit. "How did you and our Julia meet?"
Facing her curious gaze, Lionel felt awkward and didn't know how to answer.
Seeing this, Deanna quickly waved her hand. "Of course, if you don't want to say, it's okay. I was just asking casually."
Hearing this, Lionel breathed a sigh of relief.
He looked at her apologetically and said, "I need to wait for Miss King's response before I can say anything."
"Alright."
Deanna nodded, indicating she wouldn't ask further.
But she was still very curious about this matter.
So after dropping off Lionel, she decided to find her friend and ask what was going on between them.
Fortunately, Julia had taken the day off and wasn't at work.
When Deanna arrived, Julia hadn't gotten up yet and was wearing fluffy pajamas with a pale face.
Seeing her friend like this, Deanna couldn't help but worry. "Julia, are you sick? You look so pale."
As she spoke, she didn't wait for Julia's answer and forcibly grabbed her wrist to check her pulse.
Julia tried to pull her hand back in resistance.
"I'm fine. I've just been lacking sleep lately."
"Whether you're fine or not isn't up to you. I need to check first."
Deanna tightened her grip on her friend's wrist and continued the check-up.
A few minutes later, she let out a sigh of relief and released her friend's hand. "You're not sick, but your insomnia is quite severe. Have you encountered something recently that you don't know how to decide on?"
With the last sentence, she looked at her friend teasingly.
Julia felt guilty under her gaze but didn't want to admit it.
"It's nothing. I've just been under a lot of work pressure lately, which has caused my insomnia."
Seeing her stubborn friend, Deanna couldn't help but laugh. "Alright, don't hide it from me anymore. I already know everything. Such a big thing happened, and you didn't tell me immediately. Do you see me as your best friend?"
Originally, Deanna said this just to test Julia.
Unexpectedly, Julia got emotional upon hearing it.
"You know everything? How did you find out? Did Lionel tell you?"
She asked several questions in a row and then said angrily, "As expected, men's words can't be trusted!"
Deanna blinked in confusion as she watched her angry friend.
Why did it feel like Julia was emitting a murderous aura?
Could it be that Julia and Mr. Grant weren't as she thought?
Before she could figure it out, Julia's voice sounded again.
"Deanna, what else did Lionel tell you?"
"Uh, he said he wanted your contact information, but I didn't agree. I said I needed to ask for your opinion first."
