Chapter 801: Official Statements

Brent watched as the two were escorted by the police, then hurried back to the office to contact his master.

"Master Gunner, something terrible has happened. Miss has been taken by the police."

"What happened?" Gunner, Deanna's master, asked in a grave tone from the other end of the line.

Brent didn't dare to hide anything and explained the situation truthfully. "A patient at the hospital used the Sunfire Elixir IV developed by Miss and her team, and died from shock. The family reported it to the police and wants to hold someone accountable."

Almost immediately, Gunner dismissed the idea. "Impossible. I reviewed Sunfire Elixir IV myself. Unless it was mistakenly taken with a conflicting medication, it couldn't cause death by shock... Wait, something's not right. Brent, investigate the hospital where the incident occurred and the family involved. It would be best if a forensic autopsy is performed."

"I understand. I'll arrange for an investigation right away," Brent replied, nodding in acknowledgment.

Just as he was about to hang up, Gunner's voice came through again. "I can't return right now. You handle Deanna's situation."

Meanwhile, Lance also received a report from Shannon that Deanna had been taken by the police. He immediately left his half-finished meeting, instructed Xavier to prepare the car, and rushed to the police station.

At the police station, Deanna was being questioned by the authorities. Fortunately, all her documents were in order, and there were no issues.

When Lance arrived, Deanna was just coming out of the interrogation room.

"Are you okay?" he asked, striding over and grabbing her hand, looking her over.

Deanna was startled to see Lance and instinctively asked, "Why are you here?"

"Shannon reported that you were taken by the police. How could I not come? What happened?" Lance asked with concern.

Shannon only knew that Deanna had been taken but didn't know the specifics of what had happened.

Deanna understood Lance was worried but knew it wasn't the right time to talk. She whispered, "I'll explain when we get back. Let's wait for Mr. Grant first."

Lance nodded and stood by her side.

Soon after, Lionel also emerged from the interrogation room, followed by the officer in charge of the case.

The officer called Lionel and Deanna over and said sternly, "Since it's not yet clear who is responsible, you are free to go but must remain available for further investigation. Do not leave town or the country."

"Thank you, officer," Lionel replied politely.

Deanna nodded in agreement.

As they left the police station, they were immediately surrounded by reporters waiting outside.

"Miss Jones, do you have any comments on the incident involving Sunfire Elixir IV?"

"Is there a defect in Sunfire Elixir IV? Can you clarify this for us?"

"Many netizens are mocking that cheap products are never good. How do you respond to this?"

Hearing these questions, Deanna's face darkened. Fortunately, Lance shielded her from the aggressive reporters.

Lionel wasn't as lucky. Seeing they couldn't get through to Deanna, the reporters turned their attention to him.

Lionel, experienced in such situations, calmly addressed them. "Our research institute will issue a statement regarding this matter. Please check our official website for updates."

"Official statements are just formalities. We're here now; why don't you and Miss Jones answer our questions? People are concerned about whether Sunfire Elixir IV is safe."

The reporters insisted on getting a direct response, ignoring Lionel's attempt to placate them.

Lionel frowned in frustration. Just as he was thinking of how to disperse the reporters, Deanna's composed and powerful voice cut through the noise. "Please believe that any medication developed by Genesis Labs is safe if taken as prescribed."

"That's easy for you to say, Miss Jones. But someone did die after taking your medication," a reporter retorted.

Deanna's eyes sharpened as she focused on the speaker. With an authoritative tone, she asked, "Do you have evidence proving that the patient died from our medication? Has a forensic report confirmed this?"

"Well... no," the reporter admitted, intimidated by Deanna's presence.

Realizing his mistake, he angrily added, "Although there's no forensic result yet, both the family and hospital stated that the last medication given was your Sunfire Elixir IV. The patient's condition had improved before suddenly deteriorating and dying from shock."
