Lance finished speaking and leaned towards Deanna.
Deanna instinctively wanted to escape.
Unbeknownst to her, Lance had anticipated her every move, blocking all her exits.
Lance trapped her in his arms and pressed her onto the bed.
Deanna looked at the man in front of her and finally gave up struggling. She closed her eyes and said, "If you want revenge, go ahead."
Hearing this and seeing Deanna's resigned look, Lance couldn't help but laugh.
"Alright, I'm just teasing you. Do you want to get up now, or lie down a bit longer?"
He got off her, his voice unusually gentle.
Deanna looked at the man who had let her go, propped herself up on her arms, and shook her head. "No, I'll get up now. I'll spend some time with Grandma, then I need to review some professional materials and call my master to report on the situation here."
As she spoke, Deanna realized that even though she had a day off, she still had many trivial tasks to handle.
Lance nodded and accompanied her to wash up.
After a simple breakfast, Deanna walked with her grandmother in the garden.
Lance went to the study.
Later, he received a call from Xavier.
"Mr. Mercer, we just received news that Emily transferred her ten percent stake in Jones Group to Raphael."
"To Raphael?"
Lance frowned, his eyes darkening.
He then instructed, "Have someone keep an eye on Raphael. If he starts buying Jones Group shares on the stock market, notify me immediately."
As a businessman, he sensed that Raphael or the Howard family had plans for the Jones family. Otherwise, despite several losses caused by Emily, they hadn't abandoned her.
This undoubtedly crossed his line.
Because Jones Group was something he considered Deanna's possession. Unless Deanna destroyed it herself, no one else could touch it.
Meanwhile, Deanna also received a call from her assistant.
"Ms. Jones, there's a man at the door claiming to be your father. He wants to see you. I told him you weren't here today, but he said he wouldn't leave until he saw you."
"Ignore him and have security remove him."
Deanna didn't need to think to know Garrett's purpose for seeking her out.
Although she had been busy with the institute's affairs, she had heard some news about Jones Group.
Garrett probably couldn't resist trying to get her to save Jones Group now that she was famous and wealthy.
Deanna didn't give it much thought.
After spending some time with her grandmother, she went to the study on the second floor.
Lance saw her come in and waved her over. "You're just in time. I have something to tell you."
"What is it?"
Deanna walked over curiously.
Lance shared the news he had just received. "Emily transferred her shares to Raphael. Also, the Jones family borrowed money from the Howard family. The Howard family claimed that if the Jones family couldn't repay the loan, they would use Jones Group shares to settle the debt. I suspect the Howard family wants to take over Jones Group."
Hearing this, Deanna raised an eyebrow and then realized something. "No wonder my assistant from the institute contacted me earlier. Garrett came looking for me and wouldn't leave without seeing me."
"If Garrett is looking for you, he won't give up easily, especially since only you can resolve Jones Group's current crisis."
Lance spoke solemnly and then asked, "What do you think about Jones Group?"
Deanna was stunned but understood Lance's meaning.
The Howard family clearly had their eyes on Jones Group. If she wanted it, Lance would help her.
Did she want it?
Deanna felt momentarily confused.
Although Jones Group wasn't founded by her mother, it had taken a lot of effort.
But if she took over Jones Group, she feared there would be no peace in the future. Garrett wouldn't be content with Jones Group in her hands.
For a moment, Deanna didn't know what to decide and said, "Let's wait and see."
Lance guessed her thoughts and nodded. "Indeed, we can observe for now. The Howard family's plan won't succeed immediately."
Hearing this, Deanna breathed a sigh of relief.
They chatted briefly about company matters before attending to their own tasks.
Deanna didn't forget to report the situation here to her master and made a call.
"Master, our institute now has ten main patent medicines. According to hospital feedback, they are very effective and affordable for many patients."
"Excellent work," praised her master over the phone. Suddenly his tone turned serious. "I'll send you some materials later. Study them with Lionel. If you can crack the code within them, we'll have our own special medicine and won't be controlled by foreign entities anymore."
Upon hearing this, Deanna's eyes widened in disbelief.
