The next day, Emily was taken to the company by Raphael early in the morning to sign the share transfer agreement.
As soon as the agreement took effect, a look of satisfaction flashed in Raphael's eyes.
Finally, he received a return on his investment, even though he had sacrificed so much, including his marriage.
But this was not enough!
Raphael turned his gaze to the still-smug Emily across from him and deliberately reminded her, "Now that the agreement is signed, shouldn't you inform your parents? I don't want any misunderstandings when I go to the company."
"Raphael is right, but this matter is too complicated to explain over the phone. I want to go back and tell my parents in person. Is that okay?" Emily looked at Raphael eagerly.
She hadn't forgotten her promise to Raphael last night that she would need his permission for any outings.
Raphael naturally agreed and arranged for a driver to take her to Jones Group.
At Jones Group, Garrett frowned tightly when his assistant reported that Emily had arrived.
"What is she doing here?"
Despite his confusion, Garrett still had the assistant bring her up.
As soon as she entered, Emily saw her father's displeased face and nervously greeted him, "Dad."
"What are you doing here?" Garrett looked at her coldly, his impatience evident in his tone.
Emily bit her lip and, without waiting for Garrett to invite her to sit, directly sat on the sofa and explained her purpose. "I heard from Mom that our company is in trouble recently, so I thought of a way to save it."
"What can you possibly do?" Garrett spoke disdainfully, clearly not believing Emily.
Emily didn't mind and went straight to the point. "I transferred my shares to Raphael. With these shares, the Howard family..."
"What did you just say?!" Garrett interrupted her angrily before she could finish.
Emily was startled and looked at him timidly. "I said I transferred my shares to Raphael. With our family's shares, the Howard family will be more committed to helping us, and the company won't go bankrupt."
Garrett was furious after hearing this.
He glared at Emily and threw the documents on the table at her.
"Fool! You gave away our company's shares? Are you out of your mind? Do you know that the Howard family has been eyeing our Jones family for a long time?"
"What do you mean 'eyeing'? Dad, you must be mistaken. How could the Howard family be interested in our struggling company?" Emily didn't believe Garrett and continued to speak well of Raphael.
Garrett's chest heaved with anger as he pointed to the office door and shouted, "Get out!"
Seeing her father's rage, Emily was also a bit scared. She grabbed her handbag and stood up from the sofa.
"Anyway, I just came to inform you that I've signed the transfer agreement. From now on, Raphael is also a shareholder in our company."
With that, Emily turned and left.
Almost immediately after she stepped out, something crashed to the ground behind her, followed by Garrett's angry roar. "Ungrateful daughter! If I had known this would happen, I would never have listened to your mother and given you those shares!"
Garrett finished speaking and stood behind his desk, panting heavily.
He was truly furious.
Fortunately, he calmed down after a while.
No, he couldn't just sit and wait for disaster. He had to find a way to stabilize the company before the Howard family made their move.
Meanwhile, Emily left Jones Group with a strange sense of unease.
Logically, having the Howard family join Jones Group should greatly alleviate their financial crisis. Why did her father react so strongly?
Unable to figure it out, Emily instructed the driver to take her to the Jones family villa while also informing Raphael.
Soon, she arrived at the Jones family villa.
Mia came downstairs quickly when she heard Emily had returned and walked over with concern. "Why are you here so early today? Shouldn't you be resting at home for a few days? Did the Howard family say something?"
"The Howard family..." Emily hesitated, unsure how to start. She decided to speak her mind. "Yesterday when I got home, Raphael gave me two agreements: one for divorce and one for compensation for losses. He asked me to choose."
Mia was stunned and didn't react immediately.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, either I get a divorce or I compensate the Howard family for their losses due to previous events," Emily explained briefly and then continued. "Of course, I couldn't get a divorce, so I chose compensation. Considering our company's current financial difficulties, I thought of a win-win solution. I used my shares to offset the debt. This way, Raphael becomes a shareholder in our company and won't let it go bankrupt. But when I told Dad this morning, he got very angry and kicked me out of the company. He said the Howard family has ulterior motives. What does that mean?"
