After hearing Deanna's words, Brent frowned. "I've heard of Zeus Medical Instrument Group with Master Gunner, but we have no business dealings with them."
In other words, they knew about Zeus Group but did not have any connections.
"Don't know them?"
Deanna was a bit surprised.
From her perspective, with so many research institutes under her master's name, medical instruments were essential, and there should be some dealings with Zeus Group.
Seeing her surprise, Brent smiled. "Miss, it's not that I'm belittling ourselves, but our country's instruments still lag behind those abroad. You've lived with Master Gunner and know his temperament. He either doesn't do it or does it the best, and he can't tolerate any mistakes."
Hearing this, Deanna nodded in understanding but had a new question in her mind.
"If that's the case, why doesn't Master just order all the instruments from abroad?"
"Because some instruments are not allowed to be exported from abroad; the control is very strict," Brent said, looking at her mischievously.
Seeing Brent's expression, Deanna was momentarily stunned and then realized she had asked a foolish question.
She awkwardly cleared her throat and changed the topic. "It seems we can only wait for Mr. Pratt to return from abroad regarding the PHG4 issue. Fortunately, there's still a month before the research institute is completed, so there's no rush."
Brent nodded in agreement.
Meanwhile, Lance received Xavier's report.
"Mr. Mercer, I found out what you asked me to investigate yesterday."
Xavier stood in the center of the office, speaking respectfully. "The missus needs an instrument called PHG4 for her research institute. This instrument can only be produced and sold by Zeus Medical Instrument Group in the country. However, for some reason, Zeus Group refused to sell it to the missus. On the day they refused, Mr. Pratt went abroad, seemingly avoiding the missus."
Lance snorted after hearing this. "That kid isn't avoiding Deanna; he's avoiding me."
Xavier blinked and quickly understood the meaning.
After all, Mr. Mercer's relationship with the missus was publicly known nationwide. At this time, anyone daring to openly make things difficult for the missus would have to consider the consequences.
Lance didn't know Xavier's thoughts.
He ordered coldly, "Contact Cason Pratt and tell him he raised a good son. I want to invite him for dinner tonight."
"Yes."
Xavier turned and left.
On the other side, the chairman of Zeus Group Medical Instruments received Xavier's call and was puzzled.
Although Zeus Group had collaborations with Mercer Group, they were established by the older generations.
Lance's sudden invitation to dinner left him confused.
"Did your president say anything else?"
"Mr. Mercer said you raised a good son. If you have any doubts, you can ask your son; he should be able to answer all your questions."
Xavier responded politely, but his words sounded somewhat off as if they were sarcastic.
Cason Pratt naturally sensed this and felt a surge of anger but couldn't express it. He replied in a deep voice, "Tell Mr. Mercer I'll be there on time tonight."
After hanging up, he immediately called his son.
As soon as the call connected, he asked angrily, "What did you do to make Lance come to me personally?"
"Lance came to you?"
The person on the other end was clearly shocked.
Because in his view, if Lance wanted to find someone, it should be him.
Cason also sensed something wrong in his son's voice and added more anger to his tone. "Did you really provoke Lance?"
"I didn't provoke Lance; I just..."
Zane Pratt seemed embarrassed to continue.
Cason impatiently pressed on, "Just what? Tell me clearly!"
With no other choice, Zane confessed.
"I just slightly held back the instruments Mr. Mercer's fiancée wanted."
"Zane Pratt, you've got some nerve bullying a woman?"
Cason was furious.
He thought it strange that Lance would come to him out of nowhere.
It turned out his good son had provoked Lance's fiancée and messed with money matters.
Sensing his father's anger, Zane quickly defended himself. "Dad, don't misunderstand. I didn't mean to bully Lance's fiancée; I just wanted to teach someone a lesson. Who knew that person had a connection with Mr. Mercer's fiancée?"
"Who do you want to teach a lesson?"
Cason continued to press.
Zane decided not to hide anything and told the truth. "A jerk who bullied your future daughter-in-law. Don't worry; once that guy backs off, I'll personally deliver the instrument Mrs. Mercer wants and provide ten years of free maintenance. Please help me explain this to Mr. Mercer tonight so he doesn't ruin my plan."
