Upon hearing this, Deanna was somewhat surprised.
She looked at Brent curiously and asked, "What does Master usually say about me?"
"Master Gunner says you have a strong learning ability. He often uses you to motivate the researchers in his lab. Now, everyone there is very curious about you and hopes you can visit abroad so they can see you in person."
As he spoke, a mischievous smile appeared on Brent's face.
Deanna didn't know whether to laugh or cry after hearing this.
She hadn't expected that while her master seemed indifferent to her at home, he praised her everywhere else, making others envious.
Perhaps understanding Deanna's complex expression, Brent smiled and said, "I can tell that Master Gunner likes you very much. It's just that a few years ago, due to certain circumstances, he wasn't allowed to contact you. Fortunately, everything is settled now. Once the research institute here is completed, I believe you will reunite with Master Gunner soon."
"Let's hope so."
Deanna nodded and then left the airport with Brent.
On the way back, she thought about how Brent had been on a plane for almost a day and night and must be exhausted. She said, "I'll take you to Master's place to rest first. I'll come to pick you up for a welcome dinner tonight. Tomorrow, I'll show you around the research institute."
"I'll follow your arrangements."
Brent nodded, feeling increasingly positive about Deanna.
He could sense Deanna's respect for him.
Soon, they arrived in the old town.
As soon as they got out of the car, Brent looked at the old courtyard in front of him and couldn't help but sigh, "This house is still here."
"You know this courtyard?"
Deanna looked over curiously.
After all, when she met her master five years ago, there was no one around him.
Seeing Deanna's curiosity, Brent smiled and nodded, "I personally arranged this courtyard for Master Gunner. Along with the courtyard, there are several acres of good farmland just outside the town. I wonder if it's still there."
"It's still there. After Master left, he entrusted the farmland to me. It's now planted with herbs. You can take a look after you settle down."
As Deanna spoke, she opened the door for Brent and helped him move his luggage inside.
Later, after settling Brent in, she left the courtyard.
On her way back, she didn't forget to call her master.
"Master, Brent has arrived."
"Good. He will be your assistant from now on. You can delegate any trivial matters to him. Once the research institute is established, focus on your research. I hope you can give me good news soon."
Her master gently reminded her of various things.
Deanna nodded in agreement to each one.
After hanging up the phone, she drove back to the research institute.
"Miss Jones, you're back just in time. We've finished the data collection here. We'll go back and start designing now. The earliest we can give you the design plans is tonight; at the latest, tomorrow."
The team leader of the renovation team approached Deanna to report on their progress.
Deanna nodded and let them go.
Soon, Deanna was alone in the research institute.
She checked around to make sure everything was fine before leaving.
Getting into her car, she glanced at her watch and saw it was still early. She decided to drive to Mercer Group.
When she arrived, the receptionist at Mercer Group greeted her warmly as soon as she saw her. "Missus, you're here."
"Yes. Is Lance in his office?"
Deanna stood at the reception desk and asked with a gentle smile.
The receptionist immediately responded, "Yes, would you like me to connect you to his office?"
"No need, I'll go up myself."
Deanna wanted to surprise Lance and shook her head to decline.
She then said goodbye to the receptionist and walked towards the elevator.
Watching her leave, the receptionists couldn't help but whisper among themselves.
"Missus is so beautiful and kind."
"Yes, I'm really envious of Missus for winning over our president."
"What I envy most is that Missus could reunite with Mr. Mercer after being apart for five years. It must be fate."
Everyone chatted away, but Deanna couldn't hear any of it.
She took the elevator to the top floor and ran into Xavier in the hallway as he was about to deliver some documents.
Xavier was surprised to see Deanna. "Missus, what brings you here?"
"The research institute doesn't have much going on right now. It's almost noon, so I came to have lunch with Lance."
Deanna said as she glanced at the documents in Xavier's hands and smiled, "Are those for Lance?"
"Yes."
Xavier nodded.
A mischievous glint appeared in Deanna's eyes as she said, "Give them to me; I'll take them in for you."
"Thank you."
Xavier knew Deanna wanted to surprise Mr. Mercer and handed over the documents willingly.
Soon, Deanna was at Lance's office door with the documents in hand and knocked.
She quickly heard Lance's cool voice from inside the office, "Come in."
