That evening, Lance came to pick Deanna up and take her home.
On the way, he asked, "I heard you asked Sabrina to find some land to build a research institute."
"Yes, that's true," Deanna nodded in acknowledgment.
Lance continued, "Why do you want to build a research institute? Is there a new project at the company?"
Deanna didn't hide anything and explained honestly, "It's not a new company project. My master contacted me today and wants to establish a research institute domestically. He wants me to be fully in charge, and later on, I'll manage it and be one of the main researchers."
"I see. I'll also help you look for suitable land or an existing research institute for sale," Lance offered.
Deanna didn't refuse since Lance indeed had more connections and resources than she did.
She then remembered another research specialist her master had arranged and decided to mention it. "By the way, besides me, my master also found an assistant and another research specialist for the lab."
Hearing this, Lance seemed to understand Deanna's intention immediately. "Is that research specialist from Sealand?"
"Yes, it's him. But don't overthink it," Deanna quickly added, recalling the trouble she had after returning from Sealand. She didn't want Lance to get jealous and make her life difficult.
Lance looked at Deanna, who was smiling at him ingratiatingly, and raised an eyebrow. "That depends on your behavior."
"I'll behave very well," Deanna said with a bright smile.
Lance smiled back and then changed the subject. "When is that guy coming? I want to welcome him properly."
Seeing Lance's generous demeanor, Deanna couldn't help but laugh, knowing what he was really thinking.
Lance pretended not to notice and pulled her into his arms. "By the way, will your master come back for such a big event as establishing the research institute?"
"I don't know. My master is still tied up with other matters," Deanna shook her head and looked at him curiously. "Why? Do you want to meet my master?"
Lance didn't deny it and played with her hand. "Not really. I was just thinking about our wedding. I wonder if your master can come. Although you have your grandmother, she's getting old, and many things might need your master's presence since he's like half a parent."
Hearing Lance talk about the wedding made Deanna feel it was still far off.
However, she didn't object. Apart from her grandmother's age, she also wanted her master to attend her wedding.
"We still have more than half a year until the wedding. I'll ask my master then."
"Alright," Lance nodded.
In the next two days, Deanna focused on finding a location for the research institute but couldn't find a suitable one. The land was either too small or too far from the city center.
One day, while she was worrying about the location, she received a call from her master.
"Deanna, Brent has already taken a flight back. Keep an eye on your phone tomorrow and pick him up at the airport."
"Okay, master. Has Brent's accommodation been arranged? Do I need to help with that?" Deanna asked carefully.
After saying this, she realized she had asked a silly question. Her master had property in the old town, so there was no need to worry about accommodation.
Quickly correcting herself, she said, "I understand. Brent will probably stay at the old town house. I'll arrange for someone to clean it up and stock up on necessary items."
"You are thoughtful, but there's no need. I've already arranged for someone to take care of it," her master declined politely and then asked about the progress of the research institute. "Have you decided on a location for the research institute?"
Deanna apologized, "Not yet. I've looked at several locations in the past two days but haven't found one I'm satisfied with. If you're in a hurry, I'll finalize it as soon as possible."
Her master pondered for a few seconds before speaking slowly, "You don't need to find the best location. If there's an existing research institute for sale, even if it's expensive, it's fine."
"I understand. I'll try to finalize the location in the next few days," Deanna promised.
After a few more instructions from her master, they ended the call.
Just as Deanna was about to put her phone down, she received a call from Lance.
"What's up?" she asked.
Lance's voice was gentle. "A friend of mine has a research institute for sale. Do you want to check it out? The location is good, near the outer third ring road. The only downside is that it's not equipped for pharmaceutical research. You'll need to handle the equipment and probably renovate it extensively."
Hearing this, Deanna was delighted. She had just been worrying about finding a suitable research institute when Lance brought good news.
"I trust your judgment. Go ahead and finalize it for me."
