Lance held Deanna close and said in a muffled voice, "I wish I could hide you at home so no one else could see how wonderful you are and try to take you from me."
Deanna blinked, a bit confused. "Who is taking me from you?"
"You still ask? You're doing this on purpose to annoy me."
Lance released Deanna and looked down at her, his jealous expression unmistakable.
Deanna looked even more puzzled and innocently asked, "How did I annoy you?"
Lance suddenly felt a bit weary. "Didn't you notice that Lionel Grant has bad intentions towards you?"
"Are you misunderstanding something?"
Deanna didn't think she was particularly beautiful, and she had only known Lionel for four days with little interaction. How could he possibly like her? Besides, Lionel didn't even show interest in someone as beautiful as Aniyah, so how could he be interested in her?
Seeing the meaning in Deanna's eyes, Lance snorted, "I'm not mistaken. Men understand men best. The way he looks at you is the same way I used to look at you. Plus, he picks you up and drops you off every day. If he didn't have any feelings for you, why would he be so attentive?"
Hearing this, Deanna was taken aback. The way he looked at her? She hadn't noticed that at all. But she felt the need to explain, "Mr. Grant picks me up and drops me off every day because he promised my master to take good care of me."
"Taking care of you means picking you up and dropping you off every day and buying you breakfast?"
Lance's tone grew more sour with each word.
Deanna listened and saw his jealous expression, unable to hold back her laughter. She playfully waved her hand in the air and teased, "Oh my, why so sour? Are you jealous or something?"
Seeing Deanna teasing him, Lance pulled her into his arms, placing his hands on her waist's ticklish spots, pretending to be fierce. "You're making fun of me, huh?"
"I'm not! Let go of me, it tickles! Haha..."
Deanna was extremely ticklish and immediately started squirming to escape.
But Lance deliberately didn't let go.
For a while, the car was filled with Deanna's bell-like laughter.
In the end, Deanna laughed so hard she was out of breath and begged for mercy, "I can't take it anymore. I was wrong. I was wrong, okay?"
"Will you still make fun of me?"
Lance smiled as he looked at Deanna.
Deanna shook her head repeatedly. "I won't make fun of you anymore. Never again."
Hearing this, Lance finally let go.
A few minutes later, as Deanna's breathing steadied, she thought of something. "I never mentioned that Mr. Grant picks me up and buys me breakfast. How did you know?"
Lance's expression froze.
Seeing this, Deanna understood immediately.
"You had someone follow me?"
After the previous crisis was resolved, Deanna had asked Lance to withdraw Shannon and Leighton.
Lance didn't deny it. "You went to an unfamiliar place alone. Even if it's your master's friend, I wasn't at ease. So I had Shannon protect you secretly."
Hearing this, Deanna couldn't say much more. After all, Lance was concerned about her safety.
However, this incident left a sense of urgency in Lance's heart.
After this episode, he wanted to settle things with Deanna as soon as possible.
But that's a story for another time.
The next morning, the two returned to Cloudmere.
Life returned to its usual calm.
During the day, Deanna made decisions at the company.
In the evenings, she spent time with the children and Lance. When she had time, she read medical books and experimented with new pills.
Little did she know that her family was secretly planning something behind her back.
That afternoon, in a private club.
Landon followed a waiter into a private room.
Seeing the man sitting on the sofa, he laughed. "I didn't expect you'd ask me out alone. What's up?"
He spoke with a mischievous smile as he sat on the sofa next to him.
The man opposite him didn't mind his attitude at all and said coolly, "I'm planning to propose to Deanna and need your help."
Yes, the person who had arranged to meet Landon was Lance.
Landon raised an eyebrow at his words and said playfully, "Propose? I thought you two had already announced your engagement."
"Announcing our engagement is one thing; we still need to go through the proper procedures."
Lance spoke with great tenderness.
Seeing the deep affection on his face, Landon felt like he was being force-fed dog food and felt a pang of envy. "Alright, alright. I know you and Deanna are in love. No need to show off here. So how do you plan to propose?"
Hearing this, Lance didn't waste any time and explained his proposal plan.
"That's about it."
"I didn't expect someone as ruthless in business as you to be so romantic. If those in the business world knew, they'd be shocked."
After hearing Lance's plan, Landon couldn't help but tease him a bit.
Finally, he asked, "So what's my task?"
Lance didn't mind his tone and said calmly, "Your task is to get Deanna to the designated place without her knowing."
