After hearing that, the noblewoman rallied, bolstering her spirit, and turned to Deanna with a sidelong glance, saying, "What's wrong? What else do you want to do?"
"Now, the truth is out?" Deanna asked with apparent curiosity. The noblewoman rolled her eyes and said, "If my son hits, he hits. So what? Kids fight all the time. Your child wasn't able to stand up to mine. Besides, my son got injured. Are you suggesting you want my son expelled?"
She spoke defiantly, ignoring reason.
Harlan started crying too; he didn't want to be expelled. "Aunt Jones, please don't expel me! I won't hit anyone again!" he cried miserably, and Deanna couldn't bring herself to make things difficult for a child.
Moreover, Chloe only suffered minor scratches, but he was seriously injured, bruised and swollen. He had indeed suffered.
"It's okay, Aunt Jones, we can overlook Harlan's side of the incident and let him continue his classes," the principal readily agreed and had Harlan taken away.
The police and the principal left the room to discuss today's events.
In the room, only the noblewoman and Deanna remained.
The noblewoman felt somewhat uneasy being left behind.
"Judging from your tone just now, your husband seems to be a leader?" Deanna raised an eyebrow, asking her.
Upon hearing this, the noblewoman felt proud, "Yes, what about it?"
Her nobility was all thanks to her husband.
Deanna, unafraid, sarcastically retorted, "Relying on power to bully others for no reason. Shouldn't you apologize? Or do you think that without power and connections, I'm powerless against you?"
This noblewoman was so arrogant; there must be something backing her up.
She knew she was in the wrong but still stubbornly said, "If you have the guts, try me!"
With that, she huffed and left.
So what if she relied on power to bully others?
Deanna was just an ordinary person; what could she do to her as the wife of an official?
Deanna's eyes darkened, but she didn't stop her, silently watching her leave.
The noblewoman was right; Deanna had no channels, no reliance, to go against a leader.
Dealing with this matter today, she was completely relying on the kindergarten's side being in the wrong.
Calling the police could clear Chloe and Gregory's names and deal with the unethical Ms. Roman.
But for this noblewoman, she had no means.
She couldn't help but feel helpless and saddened by such a world.
However, Deanna thought to herself, being able to dismiss such an unethical teacher was also a good thing, which satisfied her.
At this moment, the police walked in and said to her, "Miss Jones, there's nothing else for us here. We'll leave now."
Deanna shook hands with him, thanking, "Thank you, officer, for clearing my child's name."
After some negotiation with the kindergarten, she took Chloe and Gregory home first.
The two children must have felt terrible being falsely accused.
Even though they didn't say it, Deanna felt sorry for them.
Not to mention, Chloe was injured.
She hugged the children tightly, "Chloe, Gregory, you've been through a lot."
Feeling the warmth, Chloe stopped talking, just quietly snuggling into her mother's embrace, absorbing her soothing scent.
Gregory, on the other hand, seemed indifferent but somewhat resentful, "It's okay, Mommy, I'm not hurt. But it's outrageous how they accused me."
Hearing this, Deanna praised Gregory, "Gregory, you did well. In the future, if anyone bullies Chloe, you must protect her."
Gregory solemnly promised her, "Mommy, don't worry. I'll protect Chloe, and I'll protect you too! I'm a little man!"
Chloe laughed at this, telling her, "Mommy, the way big brother protects me is so cool! And you, you were so awesome just now!"
Deanna picked up Gregory and walked outside.
The three of them chatted and laughed, taking a taxi to the hospital.
She took the children for a check-up, anxiously asking the doctor, "Doctor, are my children okay?"
The doctor looked at the X-rays and smiled, "They're fine, just some minor scratches and bruises, nothing serious."
Deanna breathed a sigh of relief but still asked worriedly, "Do they need to be hospitalized?"
She looked at the bloody scratches on Gregory's legs, feeling distressed, and bit her lip.
The doctor shook his head and understandingly said, "No need, just apply some medication when you get home, and they'll be fine."
With that, the doctor called a nurse over.
The nurse held iodine and cotton swabs in her hands and applied some medication to the children, finally wrapping them with gauze.
Chloe was still a little scared, trembling, thinking that her brother must be in pain.
Deanna stayed by her side, comforting her all the while.
Gregory gritted his teeth, enduring silently.
Seeing his expression, Chloe secretly thought that this nurse wasn't as gentle as the handsome uncle when applying medication.
Finally, Deanna bid farewell to the doctor, "Thank you. Doctor, we'll be going now."
The doctor nodded, and Deanna walked out, holding one child in each hand.
After so much commotion, the children were a little tired.
As she lifted her head, she unexpectedly met a familiar face.
It was Lance!
