After the New Year, it was almost time for the two little ones to start school.
Early in the morning, Samantha and Logan arrived at the manor, claiming they wanted to accompany the children for their registration.
After all, it was an experience they had never had before.
Lance also did not want to miss accompanying the two little ones for their registration. In fact, it was his first time doing
Thus, what was a simple registration ended up involving the whole family.
Their presence even attracted the attention of the kindergarten principal.
Seeing the principal rushing over, Logan waved his hand with authority and said, "We're just here to enroll the children, you don't need to worry about us."
"Okay, then, Chairman, please go ahead."
Although she said this, the principal still arranged for Gregory and Chloe's enrollment to be handled first.
Many children around them were curiously watching their family.
Among them were some bold kids who curiously asked, "Gregory, is the chairman really your grandfather?"
"Yes, he's our grandfather," Chloe answered proudly, holding Logan's and Samantha's hands, before Gregory could respond.
Seeing her cute and innocent demeanor, the elderly couple felt their hearts melt.
At this moment, other children started to chatter.
"No wonder the chairman and his wife were talking to you before; you have such a special connection."
"Chloe, since the chairman is your grandpa, can you ask him to tell the teachers to give us less homework? I don't have time to play at night because of it."
"Me too, especially when I have to do math problems. I feel like my brain is going to explode, and I don't want to end up bald like my dad."
Listening to the children's complaints, everyone couldn't help but laugh.
Deanna understood the children's complaints. Since the second half of the school year was about to begin, and the older kids were going to primary school, the kindergarten was letting them experience the pressures of primary school in advance to help them adjust.
After some laughter and chatter, the parents who had finished registering their children started to leave.
Samantha and Logan, reluctant to part with the kids, suggested taking them out to play.
Deanna and Lance, needing to go to work, did not object.
Life then seemed to return to its usual calm.
Deanna became busy with her career again. Now that Vortex Technology was on the right track, she was determined to develop the company even further, just as her mother had envisioned.
Additionally, Lance had told her that although the Jones family company had temporarily resolved its crisis, there were still internal problems. Future crises were inevitable, and she could use the profits from Vortex Technology to secretly acquire the Jones family company when the time came.
This way, she wouldn't have to wait for Garrett to generously give her the shares; she could buy them back herself.
Thus, Deanna spent her days at the company and her evenings with Lance, picking up the kids and having dinner together.
Old Ashley, seeing the four of them going in and out together every day, felt more and more like they were a family and felt a sense of fulfillment. In her lifetime, seeing her granddaughter find a home and live without worries meant she could rest in peace if something happened to her.
Thinking of this, the old lady decided to make some arrangements for the future.
That night, after Deanna put the kids to bed, she called her into the room.
"Grandma, what's wrong?"
"Come here," Old Ashley said with a gentle smile.
Deanna, though puzzled, went over and sat down. She saw the old lady handing her two red booklets and a small box that looked like it was made of sandalwood.
"I know these things don't mean much to you now, but they are things I've kept for a long time. I'm giving them to you now," the old lady said.
Hearing this and seeing what was in her hands, Deanna suddenly felt like her grandmother was saying her last words.
Without thinking, she pushed the items back to her, "I can't take these, Grandma. You keep them."
"Listen to me, take them."
The old lady insisted, trying to make Deanna accept them. But Deanna refused, her eyes welling up with tears.
Seeing her stubborn grandmother, Deanna took a deep breath and came up with a compromise, "How about this, Grandma keeps these things for now. When you really think it's time to give them to me, you can. Is that okay?"
Her voice was almost pleading with the last three words.
Old Ashley, unable to argue with Deanna, finally agreed, "Alright, I'll keep them for now, but when I'm gone, you must take them."
"Grandma, you'll be fine. You'll live a long life."
Deanna said, sniffling.
She didn't want to hear her grandmother talk about getting old.
Seeing her crying, the old lady smiled and said, "If I lived forever, I'd be a monster. Alright, don't be sad. Birth, old age, sickness, and death are part of life. You need to learn to accept it. I'll go put these things away."
