Chapter 631: The Last Client

"What happened to make you so angry?" Mia asked with concern.

Garrett didn't hide it this time. With a grim expression, he said, "Remember the project Lance gave us? I thought we could make money even without connecting with the Mercer Group, but it turned out to be a trap. To make money, you have to invest first-the more you invest, the more you earn!"

He finished speaking, breathing heavily, clearly very upset.

Mia's face also darkened. She had originally planned to get some money from Garrett, but now it seemed that it was fortunate he wasn't asking her for money instead.

In fact, Garrett was telling Mia about this precisely to get money from her.

"How much liquid cash do you have?" he asked.

"I have about a million dollars. You know I haven't worked in years; all my money comes from you. I took out three million for the company before, so I don't have much left," Mia replied, though she wasn't being entirely truthful. She had more than a million dollars.

Garrett didn't know this and believed her. After all, he had given her the money, so he thought he had a good idea of her finances.

"One million will have to do. Give me that money first. Once the project makes money, I'll pay you back. Also, contact Emily and ask her to borrow some money from the Howard family. Borrow as much as you can."

"That might be difficult," Mia said, looking troubled.

Garrett frowned and said unhappily, "You haven't even asked yet. How do you know it's impossible?"

Mia then explained Emily's situation with the Howard family. "Emily offended Deanna at a business event. Lance said he wouldn't attend any events if Emily was there. Because of this, the Howard family is very displeased with Emily and even wants Raphael to divorce her."

"Troublesome," Garrett cursed, giving up on borrowing money from the Howard family. He couldn't afford to sever ties with them.

"I remember we have a few properties. You also have some. Sell them tomorrow and pawn some of your unused jewelry. We should be able to gather around ten million dollars."

"If we rush to sell, we might get low offers," Mia said, her eyes flashing with anger. This man not only took her liquid cash but also wanted her real estate and jewelry. How did she end up with such a useless man?

Garrett didn't notice her anger and impatiently said, "Get as much as you can. I need the money quickly."

"Alright, I'll handle it tomorrow," Mia replied, maintaining a facade of being a dutiful wife despite her displeasure.

For the next two days, Deanna visited clients with Lance's company. Knowing she relied heavily on Lance, she paid extra attention to her behavior and actions. She tried to solve problems on her own before consulting Lance.

As a result, she grew quickly over these two days, especially in social skills which she had previously lacked. Lance watched Deanna converse confidently with clients, feeling proud and accomplished.

That evening, after visiting clients, they left by car. On the way back, Lance held Deanna's hand and said with a smile, "Starting tomorrow, I won't accompany you to visit clients anymore. I'll have Xavier go with you. If there's something you can't handle, ask Xavier first. If Xavier can't solve it, then come to me."

He said this because he wanted to train Deanna's abilities.

Deanna understood and nodded with a smile. "I'll try not to bother you with work issues."

"As long as you know what you're doing. Also, be careful when going out. Take the bodyguards I've arranged for you," Lance advised.

Deanna nodded obediently.

Thus, Deanna began visiting clients on her own. With Xavier providing comprehensive information, the visits went smoothly.

Four days passed quickly, and Deanna had almost finished visiting Vortex Technology's clients-only one client remained.

When she received this client's information, her brows furrowed. She hadn't expected Vortex Technology to have dealings with the Howard Group.

She understood that despite personal grievances, the Howard Group was indeed a powerful company and a coveted partner.

Even so, she was very reluctant to go to the Howard Group. She could already foresee Raphael making things difficult for her.

But she wouldn't back down. She had to manage the company in the future and couldn't let personal feelings dictate her actions.
