After a day of rest, Deanna plunged back into her busy work schedule.
Compared to before, when she felt like she needed to be several people at once, she now handled company matters with ease.
Lance noticed her progress and smiled, "Since you've got the management sorted out, it's time for the second step."
"Second step?" Deanna looked up, puzzled.
Lance nodded, "You haven't forgotten about those clients wanting to terminate their contracts, have you?"
Hearing this, Deanna finally remembered but was still somewhat confused. "The company is stable now; do they still want to terminate?"
There was something she didn't say out loud. Everyone knew that Vortex Technology was backed by Mercer Group. Partnering with Vortex Technology meant aligning with Mercer Group. Unless they were foolish, no one would want to terminate their cooperation now.
Unbeknownst to her, even though she didn't say these words, her eyes gave her away.
Lance chuckled, "Mercer Group isn't omnipotent. Businessmen are profit-driven. The company hasn't hired suitable technical staff yet, and our product development is currently on hold. In the long run, cooperating with us has many benefits, but it requires a precondition: our products must remain problem-free during this period."
He paused and looked at Deanna, sighing, "You're lucky that during this time without technical staff, our partners' products haven't encountered issues."
Though she didn't fully understand, Deanna grasped one point: Lance was praising her luck.
She couldn't help but smile sweetly at Lance, "I never thought I was lucky before, but after meeting you, my luck has improved."
"So, you're saying I'm your lucky star?" Lance's eyes were filled with amusement.
Deanna nodded vigorously, "That's right, you are my lucky star."
Hearing this, the corners of Lance's mouth lifted again.
After a bit of playful banter, they returned to the topic.
"My second step is for you to visit our partnering clients. I'll accompany you. The goal is twofold: first, to ensure they continue their cooperation with Vortex Technology; second, to bring along our technical staff for a free maintenance check on their systems. This will alleviate their concerns and show that we've hired technical personnel."
"But I don't have any technical staff?" Deanna looked over in confusion.
Lance couldn't help but lightly tap her forehead affectionately, "Silly, you didn't hire anyone, but I had Xavier bring some people from the subsidiary to temporarily fill in."
"Oh... I forgot," Deanna said sheepishly.
She then frowned in concern, "Even with these people, they've only been here a few days. Do they understand Vortex Technology's systems?"
Lance raised an eyebrow confidently, "You don't need to worry about that. If they couldn't understand, I wouldn't have made this plan."
Hearing the confidence in his voice, Deanna had no more doubts.
Just as she was about to ask when they would visit the clients, the intercom on the desk rang. It was Enzo Dorsey from the customer service department.
"Missus, I just received a call from FY Trading Company. Their internal system purchased from us was attacked, resulting in a massive data leak and significant losses. They are now demanding compensation and termination of the contract, along with ten times the penalty fee."
"Ten times the penalty fee? How much is that?" Deanna asked instinctively.
Enzo quickly provided a number, "Including the losses, it's a total of $350 million."
"So much?" Deanna was stunned.
After regaining her composure, she frowned and said in a serious tone, "I understand. I'll contact FY Trading Company shortly to find out what's going on."
She hung up the phone.
Seeing her troubled expression, Lance asked with concern, "What happened?"
"There's trouble. FY Trading Company's internal system was attacked and a lot of data leaked. They are demanding compensation and termination of the contract. Since our system was breached, we owe them ten times the penalty fee-$350 million in total," Deanna explained with a bitter smile. "We were just talking about good luck and no issues; now this happens immediately. It seems such things shouldn't be mentioned."
Lance frowned but said nothing. He had a feeling this incident was too coincidental.
Thinking about it, he called Xavier and instructed him, "Look into who is behind FY Trading Company."
