With Lance, a business magnate, teaching her, Deanna's grasp of business techniques skyrocketed.
Over the next two days, with the combined efforts of Lance and Deanna, Vortex Technology's situation finally stabilized.
The company gradually hired staff and returned to normal operations.
Even so, Deanna was busy every day.
Despite her strong learning ability and having Lance and Xavier, a capable elite, as mentors, it was still her first time managing a company. There were many areas where she was lacking, leading to more work for her.
In just one week, she had lost weight.
Lance and Old Ashley noticed and felt distressed.
Old Ashley tried different ways to nourish Deanna every day.
Lance also had the kitchen prepare more nutritious meals to send to the company daily.
It wasn't that he didn't want Deanna to take it easy; he understood her determination.
He knew Deanna wanted to manage Vortex Technology well enough to ensure its operations before handing it over to professional management.
Because of this, his guidance for Deanna became even stricter.
That night, Deanna was still learning to handle documents with Lance until midnight.
Perhaps due to exhaustion, she found Lance's steady voice increasingly difficult to stay awake to.
With a thud, Deanna's head hit her arm on the desk.
Hearing the noise, Lance turned to see Deanna asleep at the desk. Her once lively face now looked haggard.
The dark circles under her eyes were particularly noticeable.
He sighed, carefully picked her up, and carried her out of the study.
During this time, Deanna remained unresponsive, sleeping soundly.
She mumbled in her sleep, frowning as if dreaming about something.
"... trust seven-tenths... leave room in valuations... read more financial news..."
Though not loud, Lance heard her clearly and couldn't help but smile.
Even in her dreams, she was reviewing the business techniques he had taught her.
Back in the bedroom, Lance laid Deanna on the bed.
Looking at her peaceful sleeping face, he seemed to think of something and picked up his phone to cancel the alarm.
The next day, Deanna woke up naturally and was shocked by the time.
"Oh no, it's so late. I have a meeting this morning."
She muttered to herself and hurriedly got up.
At that moment, Lance walked in and saw her dressing. He smiled, "You're awake."
"Why are you home too? Aren't you going to the company today?"
Deanna was surprised to see Lance.
Lance nodded, "I decided not to go today. I'm taking a day off at home."
"I see. When did you wake up? Why didn't you wake me? Now I'll be late for the company."
Deanna's tone carried a hint of complaint as she hurriedly dressed and rushed into the bathroom without waiting for Lance's response.
Watching her rush around, Lance smiled indulgently, "You were sleeping so soundly that I didn't want to wake you. No need to hurry; I've asked Xavier to host the meeting. Today, you're resting at home with me."
"Resting at home?"
Deanna looked over in surprise.
Clearly, she hadn't known about this plan.
Lance understood her confusion and smiled, "It was a last-minute decision. Take your time getting ready; I'll wait for you downstairs."
As he disappeared from view, Deanna finally realized what was happening. She felt both annoyed and touched.
She knew Lance decided to rest so she could have a good break but was annoyed he hadn't told her sooner, making her rush around unnecessarily.
Half an hour later, Deanna came downstairs after getting ready.
In the living room, Old Ashley and the two kids were watching TV on the sofa.
Lance sat nearby with a newspaper in hand.
Hearing her approach, they all turned to look at her.
The kids jumped off the sofa and ran towards Deanna with their short legs.
"Mommy, Daddy said you both are resting today and will stay with us."
"Great! Mommy hasn't played with us in a long time."
Each child hugged one of Deanna's legs, looking up at her with reliance.
Seeing this, Deanna felt a pang of guilt.
Indeed, she had been so busy managing the company and learning how to do so that she had neglected the children.
Thinking of this, she gently patted their heads and said softly, "That's right. Today Mommy and Daddy are resting at home with you. Do you have any place you want to go?"
"No, let's just play at home. Mommy can rest better too. You've lost so much weight these days."
Gregory shook his head and spoke wisely beyond his years.
