Chapter 589: Drive This Woman Out

"I know what I know, and all I know is that you betrayed Raphael on the eve of your engagement, were with another man, and even got pregnant by him," Emily brought up the incident from five years ago, deliberately to disgust Deanna.

Deanna, hearing her repeatedly bring up the past to shame her, clenched her fists in anger but found herself at a loss for words.

Lance, sensing Deanna's emotional turmoil, took her hand and whispered soothingly, "I'm here, don't be afraid."

"I'm not afraid, just very angry," Deanna shook her head lightly.

As she spoke, she glanced worriedly at the two little ones.

Following her gaze, Lance also understood her concern. He tightened his grip on her hand and said sternly, "Leave it to me."

Hearing this, Deanna was about to ask how he would handle it when she heard him address Emily coldly.

"If you want to bring up something from five years ago, then let me tell you, these two children are mine. The man who was with Deanna back then was me, not some random man!"

This revelation caused a stir among the crowd, shocking everyone present.

"What, that man was Mr. Mercer?"

"What a twist, absolutely astonishing!"

"But even if it was Mr. Mercer, it doesn't cover up the fact that Deanna betrayed her fiancé on the eve of their engagement."

Some caught the loophole in Lance's words and looked at him with suspicion.

Lance, aware of the murmurs, narrowed his eyes and explained, "Back then, Deanna did not betray her fiancé. Someone with ill intentions drugged her. Realizing she had been drugged, Deanna fled from their scheme but accidentally ran into my room, where I too had been drugged."

Emily and Mia were taken aback upon hearing this.

Garrett stood by, dumbfounded.

He had never imagined that the man who had taken advantage of Deanna was Lance.

And now, he regretted it deeply.

After a long moment, Emily finally regained her composure and incredulously looked at Lance.

"How could it have been you?!"

"What, from your tone, you seem to know who should have been with Deanna then?"

Lance's eyes narrowed dangerously.

His icy gaze fell on Emily, causing her to shiver violently.

Realizing what she had said, she quickly denied it, "How would I know? I'm just surprised; it's too coincidental."

At this point, she seemed to think of something and suspiciously looked at Lance.

"Mr. Mercer, you didn't say that just to protect Deanna, did you?"

"Do I need to lie about such a thing? Anyone who isn't blind can see the relationship I have with the two children," Lance retorted sarcastically.

Emily was left speechless, her jealousy towards Deanna growing wildly.

Why did this happen?

Why did Deanna have such good luck to accidentally end up with someone like Lance?

Damn it!

The more Emily thought about it, the more resentful she became. Why did all the good things happen to Deanna?

Raphael back then, and now Lance; where did she fall short compared to Deanna?

Not only Emily was jealous of Deanna; many other ladies present envied her too.

If they had been the ones who entered Lance's room back then, they would be standing by his side now.

The atmosphere at the scene became somewhat strange.

Many people's gazes towards Deanna changed.

At that moment, Landon and Julia received news that Emily had come to cause trouble for Deanna and hurried over.

"Deanna, I heard that woman Emily came to bother you again. Are you alright?" Julia squeezed through the crowd and rushed to Deanna's side with a worried expression.

Seeing this, Deanna's icy demeanor softened slightly as she shook her head gently, "I'm fine."

"That's good," Julia said then glanced at Landon with dissatisfaction and provocatively remarked, "Mr. Landon, what kind of guests are you inviting? They're causing trouble at your party and you're not handling it?"

Landon caught the sarcasm in her words. His already dark expression grew even darker.

He spared no respect for Emily and sarcastically said, "She wasn't invited by me. She used improper means to get an invitation from the Sherman family."

After speaking, he stared at Emily with undisguised disgust and ordered her removal.

"Someone, escort this woman out!"

"You can't throw me out!"

Emily never expected Landon to have her removed publicly; she was both embarrassed and furious.

If she were thrown out of the party today, she would become a laughingstock in their circles; how could she show her face again?
