Chapter 582: Impossible to Die

Hearing this, Lance looked over jokingly, "I thought you would never ask."

Deanna's face stiffened, and she said dryly with a stiff neck, "I was just making conversation, forget it if you don't want to talk."

After she spoke, she quickened her pace and strode forward.

Seeing this, Lance chuckled and caught up with her, pulling her to a stop.

"Alright, I'll stop teasing you. Leticia isn't dead."

"That's good."

Deanna breathed a sigh of relief.

She was genuinely worried that Leticia might use death as a form of revenge against her.

Although it wouldn't cause any real harm, it was still problematic and quite disturbing.

Lance, seeing her expression, could easily guess what she was thinking and continued, "From now on, even if Leticia wants to die, she can't. The Walsh family has pulled some strings to ensure she is specially taken care of in prison."

Deanna nodded upon hearing this and dropped the subject.

Later that day, after the family had breakfast, everyone went about their separate activities.

Lance took the two little ones to school before heading to work at the company.

Deanna accompanied Old Ashley for a walk in the garden and then went to check on the medicinal herb fields.

Time flew by, and soon it was evening.

While Deanna was in the kitchen helping prepare dinner, Sam came in from outside and respectfully reported, "Missus, Master Gregory and Miss Chloe are back, accompanied by Miss King and Mr. Sherman."

"Oh, Julia and Landon are here."

Deanna showed a surprised expression and quickly instructed Sam, "Have someone serve them tea first; I'll join them once I'm done here."

Sam nodded and left.

A few minutes later, Deanna also returned to the living room.

Upon arrival, she saw Julia and Landon playfully engaging with the little ones. As she approached them, she asked with a smile, "What brings you here today, and together at that?"

After saying this, her gaze teasingly swept over the two.

Julia and Landon could clearly see the implication in her eyes and were speechless.

Landon couldn't take it anymore and said irritably, "What's with that look? I'll have you know, don't get any ideas; I just happened to bump into her outside. I like gentle and delicate women, not tomboys."

"Who are you calling a tomboy?"

Julia could clearly hear Landon belittling her and immediately got angry.

She stood up, hands on hips, and retorted sarcastically, "As if I have to be with you. With your soft and weak demeanor, lacking any manly spirit, I wouldn't even consider you!"

"Tomboy, who are you calling weak?"

Unsurprisingly, the word 'weak' hit a nerve with Landon.

The two immediately began to argue.

Deanna didn't stop them; she let them quarrel.

Over the years, she had seen such scenes countless times and knew well that intervening would be futile.

Once these two started arguing, they wouldn't stop unless one of them won.

The little ones watched with great interest.

Before long, there was a winner and a loser.

Unsurprisingly, Julia lost.

Deanna clicked her tongue twice and laughed, "Julia, after all these years, how come you still can't win against Landon?"

"And you! Why didn't you help me?"

Julia glared at her, her eyes full of accusation.

Deanna spread her hands with a laugh, "It's not that I didn't want to help you, but from years of experience, my involvement wouldn't have made a difference."

Julia was left speechless because it was indeed the truth.

At that moment, Landon noticed the unhealed scar on Deanna's face and frowned in inquiry, "Deanna, what's that red mark on your face?"

Deanna was about to make an excuse but was preempted by the little ones.

"Uncle, you almost didn't get to see Mommy."

"Mommy encountered a bad woman who tried to kill her with a knife. Thankfully, Daddy arrived in time; otherwise, we might have all been gone."

This revelation shocked both Landon and Julia.

They looked at Deanna in astonishment and asked, "What exactly happened?"

Faced with the concern and questioning from her two friends, Deanna felt warmth in her heart.

"Don't listen to their exaggeration; it wasn't that serious."

She looked helplessly at the little ones before slowly starting to explain the situation with the Walsh family.

Upon hearing this, Julia's fiery temper flared up again, "There are still such shameless women around? I've seen it all now. Is that woman dead yet?"

"No, she isn't."

Deanna shook her head and recalling what Lance had told her that morning, she smiled and said, "She can't die even if she wants to now."

"How so?"

Julia and Landon looked over curiously.

Deanna didn't hide anything and shared the news Lance had told her.

After listening, Julia was visibly disappointed, "What a pity. If she really had any guts, she would have taken care of herself and saved us the trouble."

Seeing her friend still somewhat upset, Deanna quickly changed the subject, not wanting to dwell on the matter any longer.

"By the way, you haven't mentioned why you came over today?"
