About half an hour later, the car stopped at the entrance of the residential area.
"Miss Jones, we've arrived. Do you need me to drive you further?" Xavier asked in a deep voice, glancing back at Deanna to gauge her response.
"No need, I'll get off here. Xavier, thank you for the ride," she said, getting out of the car.
As soon as she opened the car door, she noticed another car ahead, just opening its door as well. Someone got out of that car, and judging by the figure, she vaguely recognized them.
Who could it be coming here so late?
She couldn't help but take a few more glances before realizing it was Garrett.
Deanna's expression darkened as she walked over to him, questioning him.
"What are you doing here?" Garrett turned his head at the sound of her voice, immediately speaking coldly, "Because of you, Emily is being slammed online. Do you know what she's been called because of you?"
She seemed to be living carefreely at this hour.
Seeing her, he got angry instantly, his words dripping with displeasure.
Deanna remained silent, rolling her eyes, not wanting to engage with him.
What did Emily being criticized have to do with her?
Even if it were the Jones family in trouble, she wouldn't care.
She was about to enter the residential area when he stopped her.
Garrett glared at her angrily, his voice raising a few notches, "I don't care about your relationship with Mr. Mercer. You must immediately stop attacking Emily on his behalf!"
He was furious. How dare she ignore him?
This rebellious woman was getting bolder and bolder!
Hearing this, Deanna sneered and spoke out.
"So you came here tonight just for Emily. If you treated me even one-tenth as much as you do her, I wouldn't be ignoring you."
She raised her gaze, meeting his eyes with defiance.
"If I don't? Everything that's happened to her is her own fault. Why should I stop?"
Based on her understanding of Emily, the scandals online were likely true. If Emily hadn't done those things, she could have taken legal action against the media for spreading rumors. Why did Garrett need to come find her in the middle of the night?
Garrett, full of anger, twisted his face in a distorted expression as he questioned her, "How can you be so heartless to your own sister? Is it so difficult to let her off?"
She chuckled and nodded.
"Yes, I'm heartless. Whatever I do, you always disapprove. Even if Emily has done all sorts of bad things, she's still innocent!"
Her laughter carried a hint of sorrow, her eyes showing a hint of moisture.
Memories of being treated coldly by the Jones family flashed through her mind. She was somewhat unwilling in the end. They were both daughters of the Jones family, so why did he treat her like this?
She tilted her head, her beautiful eyes tinged with red, exuding a broken beauty.
"Since that's the case, why did you come to me? Even if I want to ruin Emily, what can you do to stop me?"
She spoke softly, her expression tinged with a hint of paranoid madness.
"You wicked girl!"
Garrett was so angry that his brows furrowed, and he raised his hand to hit her.
Deanna reacted quickly, raising her arm to block his hand.
She stared at him angrily, saying, "If you dare to hit me, I'll call the police immediately. Don't think I won't. I'm not afraid of you!"
If he weren't her biological father, she would have slapped him back.
"You!"
Garrett felt his blood boiling, his face turning red.
As the conflict unfolded here, Xavier, who hadn't left yet, witnessed everything and furrowed his brows.
He called Lance, reporting, "Dr. Deanna and Garrett are in a dispute and they're getting physical. Garrett seems to have come to see Dr. Deanna because of something online. Sir, do you need me to intervene on Dr. Deanna's side?"
Lance's expression turned serious upon hearing this.
Members of the Jones family were actually causing trouble for her.
"What's the situation now?" he asked in a deep voice.
Xavier frowned, observing for a while before saying, "Dr. Deanna doesn't seem to be at a disadvantage."
He couldn't hear what they were saying from this distance, but it seemed she wasn't losing.
Lance breathed a sigh of relief and instructed, "Use your judgment."
Xavier acknowledged, hanging up the phone and carefully watching outside.
The young master meant for him to keep an eye on Dr. Deanna and ensure she didn't get hurt if Garrett, being a man, really laid hands on her.
At the moment, Garrett's hand was suspended in mid-air as Deanna blocked it.
His face was unsightly, feeling even more displeased with her defiance.
Taking a deep breath, he looked at her and asked in a deep voice, "What will it take for you to let Emily off?"
She chuckled satisfactorily and relaxed her arm.
"That's more like it, negotiating. If you want me to let her go, it's possible. Return all the properties and shares under my mother's name that were once in my possession, and I'll consider letting her off. Otherwise, just leave."
Garrett laughed angrily upon hearing this.
What nonsense was she spouting?
Olivia's things were the Jones family's things. Deanna had already left the Jones family, so how could she give them to her?
"You're delusional," he gritted his teeth, clenching his fists.
She rolled her eyes and smiled charmingly, "If you want to think so, you can. I've set my conditions. It's up to you."
With that, she briskly walked upstairs.
