After entering, Deanna and Lance saw Logan and Samantha sitting on the sofa, playing with the two little ones.
The children noticed their return and joyfully called out to them.
"Daddy, Mommy, you're back."
Hearing this, Logan and Samantha turned their heads and greeted with a smile, "We're back."
Lance nodded and sat down on the sofa next to Deanna.
"Why did you come over?"
"It's the weekend, we originally planned to take the kids out, but they said you went to the hospital and wanted to wait for your return before going out."
Samantha briefly explained the situation, then her gaze fell on Deanna's face, noticing the obvious red mark. She frowned and asked, "What did the doctor say? Will there be a scar?"
"No, the doctor said that as long as I apply the medication on time, the mark will gradually fade," Deanna gently shook her head.
Samantha then relaxed her frown and smiled, "That's good. A girl's face needs to be well protected. It's such a big incident, why didn't you two tell us? If we hadn't come to see the kids today, we wouldn't have known about it."
"Uh..."
Deanna didn't know how to respond and looked towards Lance.
Lance held her hand and explained to his mother, "I can handle it."
"It's your business if you can handle it, but doesn't mean we shouldn't care," Samantha said with a glare.
Lance sighed and compromised, "Understood, I'll inform you if anything happens in the future."
"That's more like it," Samantha smiled contentedly.
However, when her gaze fell again on the scar on Deanna's face, she couldn't help but express her anger, "That woman from the Walsh family is outrageous, daring to lay a hand on our Mercer family members. She didn't take us seriously at all. Such people should not be easily forgiven!"
As she spoke, Logan, who had been silent, finally spoke up.
"How did you handle this?"
"We reported it to the police. That woman from the Walsh family has been sentenced to ten years in prison," Lance disclosed truthfully.
Logan nodded, appearing somewhat satisfied.
Samantha didn't say much but turned to Deanna and instructed, "Next time you encounter such a crazy woman, don't be polite. If she dares do anything, teach her a lesson directly. Let Lance cover for you. You are Mrs. Mercer of our family; there's no reason for others to bully you!"
Hearing this, Deanna was quite surprised.
She had always felt that Mrs. Mercer, although agreeing to her relationship with Lance for the sake of their children, probably didn't have a good impression of her.
Yet unexpectedly, she heard such protective words from Mrs. Mercer's mouth today, making her feelings somewhat complex.
"I understand, thank you," Deanna said with a smile.
The two little ones also rushed over and hugged Samantha, acting cute, "Grandma is so nice; we really like grandma."
"Grandma likes you too."
Samantha was overjoyed being hugged by the children, her face almost creased with smiles.
Logan watched from the side feeling a bit jealous and said sourly, "Why is only grandma good? Isn't grandpa good too?"
"Grandpa is also good; we love grandma and grandpa the most."
The two little ones quickly appeased him with sweet words that flowed effortlessly.
The grandparents were delighted by their soft and sweet voices; their smiles never faded.
Deanna and Lance looked at each other and shared a smile.
At that moment, Deanna's phone in her bag rang; it was an unknown number.
She answered with confusion and heard the person on the other end claim to be a prison guard.
"Do you need something from me?" Deanna asked with some doubt.
The guard replied honestly, "Miss Jones, Leticia has been insisting on seeing you. I don't know if you could make time for a visit."
She hadn't expected Leticia would seek her out.
Lance noticed her unease and asked softly, "What's wrong?"
Seeing his concern, Deanna shook her head slightly and then coldly said into the phone, "Sorry, I don't want to see her."
After ending the call, she didn't wait for Lance to ask again and took the initiative to tell him about the call.
"The call was from the prison; Leticia wants to see me."
As soon as she finished speaking, Samantha overheard and said irritably, "She wants to see you just because she wants to? Who does she think she is? Anna, you don't need to bother."
"Indeed, there's no need to see her," Lance also agreed with a nod.
Seeing this, Deanna smiled and said, "I indeed don't want to see her; hence I didn't agree."
Soon after, the family put this matter behind them.
Meanwhile, Leticia learned that Deanna had refused to see her and was filled with hatred.
She had humbled herself so much yet Deanna was still being petty. If that was the case, even if it meant her death, she would drag Deanna down to hell with her!
