It was almost nine in the evening. Deanna looked at the father and two children still having fun and urged, "Alright, you all have school tomorrow. It's time to rest."
"Got it," the two kids responded in unison.
Chloe couldn't help but ask, "Mommy, can we sleep with you and Daddy tonight?"
Deanna was taken aback but didn't refuse. After all, when they were at the Walsh family mansion, she and Lance always stayed together. Refusing now would seem pretentious. Besides, with the two kids around, she wasn't worried about Lance trying anything.
So, the family went to the bedroom. After a simple wash-up, Deanna was ready to put the kids to bed. However, the two children pushed Deanna and Lance to the middle of the bed, saying, "Since Mommy and Daddy are together, you should sleep together."
Deanna was both amused and embarrassed. "Stop it and go to sleep."
She gently scolded the two kids, her eyes avoiding Lance's gaze. Lance saw everything and smiled as he pulled Deanna into his arms, whispering, "Since it's the kids' wish, let's just go along with it."
Deanna blushed and squirmed shyly. "Don't teach the kids bad things."
"Don't worry, Mommy, we didn't see anything," the two kids said mischievously, covering their eyes.
Seeing this, Deanna's cheeks turned even redder. Lance couldn't help but lean in for a kiss and said with a smile, "Alright, the kids said they didn't see anything. Let's just go to sleep."
Hearing this, Deanna stopped struggling. They had a good night's sleep.
The next morning, after breakfast, Deanna took the kids to school while Lance went to the office. Although he had handled some company matters at the Walsh family mansion, there were still many documents waiting for him.
As soon as the kids got to school, they couldn't wait to share the good news with their Godmother via their smartwatch.
"Godmother, Mommy and Daddy are together now."
"Did your Mommy find your biological father?" Julia's surprised voice came through the phone.
Then she realized something was off. "Wait, if your Daddy is back, what about Uncle Lance?"
Gregory explained, "It's not our biological father. Daddy is Uncle Lance. After Mommy and Uncle got together, we started calling him Daddy."
"Oh, I see. That's great news," Julia responded happily, genuinely wishing her friend well.
After hanging up, she eagerly contacted Deanna.
Deanna was surprised by the call and asked with a smile, "Shouldn't you be at work? Why are you calling me now?"
"Deanna, how could you not tell me about you and Mr. Mercer? Are we still best friends?" Julia playfully scolded her friend.
Deanna was astonished. "How did you know?"
"Never mind how I found out. You and Mr. Mercer are together and didn't tell me. How are you going to make it up to me? Aren't I your best friend?"
Julia teased Deanna, who replied helplessly, "How do you want me to make it up to you?"
Julia got excited. "Do you remember our promise from college?"
"College..." Deanna hesitated for a moment before recalling it and laughed. "Got it. I'll call Lance later and we'll have dinner together tonight."
Back in college, before her family faced hardships, she and Julia had promised that whoever found a boyfriend first would treat the other to a meal.
Julia was delighted that Deanna remembered their promise. "I want a big meal. It's not every day I get to eat on Mr. Mercer's dime; I want something good."
She paused for a moment before adding, "Oh, and Mr. Mercer should give me a cash gift too. If it weren't for my advice, he wouldn't have won you over so quickly."
Deanna found this both amusing and exasperating. "You have some nerve. Look at all those bad ideas you gave before; you even misled Gregory and Chloe. I haven't held you accountable yet, and now you're asking for a cash gift."
"You got it wrong; I'm not asking you; I'm asking Mr. Mercer," Julia retorted confidently.
Deanna was at a loss for words.
Before she could respond, Julia teased her again, "Deanna, you're already acting so wifely even before marrying Mr. Mercer."
Blushing furiously, Deanna said indignantly, "Alright, alright! I'll ask Lance to prepare a cash gift for you."
"And don't forget Gregory and Chloe's gifts. They put in a lot of effort too," Julia added quickly, making sure to secure benefits for her godchildren.
Deanna couldn't help but laugh and scolded jokingly, "Don't worry; Lance has already prepared their gifts."
