Old Hughes truthfully reported Deanna's condition.
Hearing that Deanna was not in serious danger, Lance breathed a sigh of relief.
At this moment, Old Hughes finally had the chance to ask what had happened.
"What did you go to do just now? Was it more important than Anna?" He looked over with some dissatisfaction.
His gaze seemed to question how Lance could be a good boyfriend when his girlfriend was unconscious and he wasn't by her side.
Seeing Old Hughes' misunderstanding, Xavier quickly defended Mr. Mercer. "You misunderstood. Mr. Mercer just went to avenge Missus."
Upon hearing this, Old Hughes immediately perked up.
"What happened? Tell me quickly."
"It was the eldest daughter of the Walsh family. She was jealous of Missus being with Mr. Mercer and tried to harm her by pushing her off the balcony. Fortunately, there was a pool below, otherwise, even though it was just the second floor, Missus would have been seriously injured."
Xavier briefly explained the situation.
Old Hughes' face turned livid with anger upon hearing this. "Has Leticia gone mad? I must get an explanation from Old Walsh for this, or I won't let it go!"
With that, he stormed out of the room.
Seeing this, Xavier couldn't help but feel worried and looked at Lance.
"Mr. Mercer, should I stop Old Hughes?"
"No need. Let him make a fuss. Let's see what the Walsh family's attitude is. If there's no clear response by tomorrow morning, go to the police." Lance spoke coldly.
Then, as if he remembered something, he continued, "By the way, when you go back, have the company's project department prepare a plan to strike against the Walsh Group. Also, arrange for two bodyguards to guard the door. Without my permission, no one except Old Hughes is allowed in!"
"Understood." Xavier nodded and went to execute the orders.
Soon, he returned with two formidable bodyguards stationed outside the room.
Just then, Ernest arrived after dealing with Leticia.
He intended to understand Deanna's condition before deciding how to handle the situation.
Although Leticia had caused such a big trouble, she was still part of the Walsh family. If she were prosecuted by the Mercer Group and sent to prison, it would be a severe blow to the Walsh Group's shares.
With this in mind, he greeted Xavier proactively. "Mr. Nelson, what are you doing?"
"Nothing much. Mr. Mercer is worried that someone might come to cause trouble while Missus is recovering, so he instructed me to arrange for two bodyguards to guard outside."
Xavier made no effort to hide his displeasure in his tone.
After speaking, he deliberately paused and looked Ernest up and down before asking knowingly, "By the way, what brings Mr. Walsh here?"
Although Xavier's words were harsh, Ernest maintained his composure and forced a smile. "I'm here to check on Dr. Deanna. How is she doing?"
"Don't worry, she won't die," Xavier retorted bluntly.
Ernest was momentarily speechless and felt a surge of anger.
Despite being the master of the Walsh family, he had been repeatedly insulted. If it weren't for Lance, he would have left long ago.
"Mr. Nelson, you really know how to joke."
Ernest took a deep breath to suppress his anger and changed his tone. "I just want to see Dr. Deanna's condition. Could you please inform Mr. Mercer?"
Xavier remained unmoved. "Mr. Mercer said that if Mr. Walsh is here to give an explanation, then you can go in. If not, it's better not to go in and risk angering Mr. Mercer into taking action before tomorrow."
His last words were full of threat.
Ernest's fake smile froze on his face.
Before he could say anything else, he saw a servant who took care of Old Walsh hurriedly approaching.
"Mr. Ernest, Old Walsh wants to see you immediately."
"I understand."
Ernest nodded, knowing that his father probably wanted to discuss Leticia's situation.
Not daring to delay, he said to Xavier patiently, "Mr. Nelson, please inform Mr. Mercer and Dr. Deanna that the Walsh family will definitely give an explanation regarding Dr. Deanna's injury."
Xavier remained silent and watched him coldly.
Although angry, Ernest showed no sign of it on his face and turned to leave.
After he left, Xavier entered the room.
Inside, Lance saw him and spoke coldly without waiting for him to speak. "Tell the planning department I want to see the plan tonight."
"Understood." Xavier nodded, understanding that Mr. Mercer had overheard his conversation with Ernest outside.
Meanwhile, Ernest arrived at Old Walsh's room.
As soon as he entered, he faced his father's furious expression.
"I told you to discipline your daughter properly! Why is she still causing trouble outside? You really bring shame on me and our family!"
Old Walsh angrily scolded Ernest and threw a teacup at him, threatening harshly, "I don't care what method you use; by tomorrow Leticia must get Dr. Deanna's forgiveness or don't blame me for being ruthless as her grandfather."
