"What's wrong?"
Deanna looked over, puzzled.
Hassan stepped forward and said, "My cousin didn't come back last night. My uncle and aunt are very worried."
Hearing this, Deanna felt confused.
What did Leticia not coming back have to do with her?
Perhaps seeing her confusion, Hassan continued, "My cousin went missing while chasing after you and Mr. Mercer yesterday. I thought maybe Mr. Mercer knows something. Could you please ask Mr. Mercer for me?"
"Wait, are you saying that Lance made Miss Walsh disappear?"
Deanna finally understood his implication and looked at him with some displeasure.
Hassan didn't deny it. "Perhaps. It's just my guess. I hope you can understand. If I'm wrong, I will apologize to you later."
With the conversation reaching this point, Deanna couldn't refuse anymore.
She nodded lightly and said, "I understand. I'll ask Lance about it later. He's still resting now."
"Thank you, Miss Jones."
Hassan sighed in relief and thanked her.
Deanna nodded and said, "If there's nothing else, I'll be going now."
She turned to leave.
Unexpectedly, an accident happened at that moment.
Deanna didn't notice the corner of the table beside her and tripped, losing her balance and falling forward.
Hassan instinctively reached out to catch her.
"Miss Jones, are you okay?"
"I'm fine, thank you."
Deanna gratefully thanked him.
If Hassan hadn't caught her in time, she might have been seriously hurt.
Little did they know, this scene was witnessed by Leticia, who had just returned.
From Leticia's angle, it looked like Deanna and Hassan were embracing each other.
Originally, Leticia wanted to shout at them, but she quickly thought of something and took a photo of them with her phone.
"Deanna, let's see how you explain this!"
She looked at the photo on her phone with a sinister smile and a venomous gaze.
Yesterday afternoon, she had gone after Lance but was stopped midway by a group of men in black suits who locked her in a dark room and confiscated her phone.
It wasn't until this morning that they released her.
In Leticia's mind, all of this was Deanna's fault.
If it weren't for this woman, she wouldn't have been rejected by Lance or locked up for no reason.
Fortunately, she now had something on Deanna. She was determined to expose Deanna's true nature to everyone!
"What are you doing?" Leticia suddenly shouted angrily.
Deanna and Hassan instinctively separated upon hearing the voice.
They looked up to see Leticia standing at the door.
Hassan frowned and asked with a slightly darkened expression, "It's you. When did you come back?"
"Hassan, what's with that expression? Do you think I came back at a bad time? Did I interrupt you and Deanna?"
Leticia noticed her cousin's displeased expression and also became annoyed, speaking sarcastically.
She then turned her scornful gaze to Deanna and mocked, "You really have a calculating mind. You're with Lance but seducing my cousin behind Lance's back. How shameless you are. Do you think Lance would still be with you if he saw what just happened?"
Deanna's face turned cold upon hearing this.
"Miss Walsh, words have consequences. You should be careful about what you say."
She warned her with a stern look.
But this only fueled Leticia's anger further. "Oh? Are you afraid to admit what you've done? I saw with my own eyes that you were hugging my cousin. Are you saying I'm wrong?"
Deanna felt speechless.
So this was what Leticia was talking about.
Before she could say anything, Hassan interrupted her.
"Enough. Miss Jones almost fell, and I just helped her up. Don't make things up!"
Hassan explained in a deep voice, giving Leticia a warning look.
Leticia sneered, "Of course you'd defend her if you're in love with this tramp. Do you think I'd believe you?"
Hassan and Deanna found her unreasonable.
Their argument attracted Mr. and Mrs. Walsh, Lance, and Old Hughes.
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh were surprised to see Leticia downstairs and finally felt relieved after a night of worry.
Mrs. Walsh hurried downstairs to Leticia and bombarded her with questions.
"When did you come back? Where did you go yesterday? Why didn't you answer your phone?"
"I didn't go anywhere. Someone grabbed me and locked me in a dark room, taking my phone away."
Leticia spoke with both grievance and gritted teeth.
