Upon hearing this, Old Walsh snorted and said, "Since we've found the person who drugged me, send him to the police station. Let the police interrogate him. I'm sure they won't wrong any innocent person!"
He deliberately said the last sentence while looking at Leticia.
Seeing this, Leticia shrank her shoulders, losing all her previous arrogance.
Hassan noticed her change and shook his head slightly. Following his grandfather's instructions, he had the bodyguard take the middle-aged man to the police station.
Old Hughes saw that the matter was settled and stood up, saying, "Since it's resolved, Anna and I will continue studying medical books in the study."
"Go ahead. I'll have the butler bring you some refreshments later," Old Walsh nodded in agreement without stopping them.
As Deanna and Old Hughes left, the atmosphere in the living room became somewhat awkward.
Ernest stepped forward and apologized to Old Walsh, "It's my fault for not teaching my daughter well, causing you trouble, Father."
Little did he know, his words only made Old Walsh angrier.
"Now you realize you didn't teach her well? What were you doing all this time? At the same age, Dr. Deanna is already a renowned healer, while your daughter is good for nothing but causing trouble at home. What else can she do?"
Old Walsh criticized Leticia harshly.
Ernest had no way to refute.
Leticia dared not resent her grandfather, so she directed her anger towards Deanna.
In her view, it was Deanna's arrival that caused her grandfather to despise her.
After following Old Hughes upstairs, Deanna put the earlier events out of her mind and focused on reading medical books.
About half an hour later, there was a knock on the study door. Hassan entered with a tray.
Old Hughes was surprised to see him and asked, "Why are you bringing this? Is everything settled?"
"With Grandpa handling it, there's no need for me," Hassan replied as he placed the tray on the coffee table.
He then picked up a cup of tea and handed it to Deanna, apologizing, "Miss Jones, I'm sorry you almost got involved earlier. I offer tea instead of wine to apologize and hope you don't mind what happened."
Deanna was quite surprised by his words.
Even Old Hughes raised an eyebrow and gave her a knowing look as if to say: See, I knew he felt differently about you.
Deanna found it amusing.
Ignoring Old Hughes, she responded calmly to Hassan, "Mr. Hassan, there's no need for this. I know it wasn't your fault."
"I'm glad you don't misunderstand," Hassan sighed in relief.
He had a good impression of Deanna and didn't want this incident to create distance between them.
Unaware of his thoughts, Deanna nodded lightly and sipped her tea while nibbling on snacks.
The study fell into a quiet atmosphere.
Hassan wanted to find a topic to stay longer but seeing both Deanna and Old Hughes engrossed in their books, he decided against it.
That afternoon, after a brief rest, Deanna and Old Hughes went to check on Old Walsh.
Walking through the corridor, Deanna saw Leticia and Mrs. Walsh sitting on the sofa, seemingly unaffected by the morning's events.
She paid them no mind and quickly entered the room.
After a thorough check-up, Deanna smiled at Old Walsh, "The inflammation in your body has subsided. As long as you take good care of yourself and prevent it from recurring, you'll be fine. However, you must watch your diet-no strong tea or greasy foods."
Old Hughes suddenly chimed in with a gloating tone, "Anna, you're taking away all his favorites."
Deanna paused for a moment before understanding and chuckled, "Although I don't know what Old Walsh's favorites are, he must avoid what I mentioned; otherwise, the inflammation could easily return."
Old Walsh sighed with a bitter smile, "I don't have many hobbies; I just love a cup of strong tea, especially in the morning. Without it, I feel sluggish."
"In that case, I'll have to ask Mr. Hassan to keep an eye on you," Deanna said just as Hassan walked in.
"Miss Jones wants me to watch over what?" Hassan asked curiously.
"Old Walsh's inflammation has subsided, but to prevent it from recurring, I advised him to avoid certain things," Deanna explained and repeated the precautions.
Hassan nodded solemnly, "Don't worry, Miss Jones. I'll make sure Grandpa stays away from those things."
Old Walsh chuckled and teased, "Brat, finally got the chance to control me?"
Hassan playfully nodded, "Exactly. So be good, Grandpa, or I'll report to Miss Jones and have her prescribe extra bitter medicine for you."
