"Miss Walsh promised me five hundred thousand dollars if I put the medicine into Old Walsh's drink," the middle-aged man said.
Almost immediately, Leticia exploded like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. "Nonsense! When did I ever tell you to drug my grandfather? This is slander!"
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh's faces darkened instantly.
In unison, they shouted at the middle-aged man, "How dare you slander your master! You must have a death wish!"
"Tell us, who instructed you to poison Old Walsh? If you continue to lie, you'll spend the rest of your life in prison!"
The middle-aged man's face turned pale. But realizing he couldn't escape punishment no matter what, he stopped fearing Mr. and Mrs. Walsh's threats.
"I'm not lying. It was Miss Walsh who told me to drug Old Walsh!"
"That's a lie! I never gave you such instructions!" Leticia was determined to deny everything, hating the servant even more.
Hassan watched her frantic reaction and spoke coldly, "Do you have any evidence that my cousin instructed you?"
"I do. Miss Walsh gave me a check for five hundred thousand dollars. And I have a recording."
The middle-aged man, suddenly enlightened, revealed his trump cards.
Leticia, hearing this, became unsteady on her feet. She never expected the servant to keep evidence and a recording.
At this moment, her cousin spoke again, "If you have evidence, where is it?"
"The check is under my pillow in my room. The recording is on my phone," the middle-aged man confessed.
Hassan signaled to his bodyguard, who quickly left and returned with the check and phone from the man's room.
Hassan took the phone, found the recording, and pressed play.
Soon, Leticia's conversation with the middle-aged man echoed in the living room.
"As long as you put this medicine into Old Walsh's drink, I'll give you a million dollars."
"Miss Walsh, what is this medicine? It won't harm him, will it?"
"Don't worry, it won't harm him. It will just make Old Walsh uncomfortable."
Hassan paused the recording and looked at Leticia with icy eyes. "Do you have anything to say?"
Leticia was too flustered to defend herself. Just then, her father's furious voice rang out.
"How could I have raised such a ruthless daughter? That's your grandfather!"
With that, Ernest slapped Leticia across the face.
Stunned, Leticia held her cheek and looked at her enraged parents, feeling a pang of fear.
"I didn't do it! He's lying!" Leticia denied again through gritted teeth.
She knew she couldn't let this fall on her; otherwise, she was finished. Not only would her grandfather punish her, but her parents wouldn't spare her either.
Suddenly, an idea came to her. "It was you! You bribed this servant to frame me!" she accused Hassan.
Hassan laughed in disbelief. "I framed you?" he repeated.
Leticia nodded vigorously. "Yes! You conspire with this servant. You gave him the check and fabricated the recording. This is all your scheme."
Seeing his unrepentant cousin, Hassan was infuriated.
"Fine. You say I framed you. Then tell me why I would do that? What benefit would it bring me?" he asked calmly.
Leticia was stumped and didn't know how to respond for a moment. Then she saw Deanna sitting nearby and her eyes lit up.
"It doesn't benefit me, but it benefits you!" she declared.
"What a joke! How does it benefit me?" Hassan asked incredulously.
Leticia smugly replied, "It benefits you in many ways. By framing me for poisoning our grandfather, you make our family look bad. When it comes time to divide the inheritance, your family gains. Also, don't think I don't know you're interested in Deanna. I've been targeting her these past few days, so you want to help her get back at me!"
Deanna was shocked that she could get dragged into this while quietly observing from the side.
She frowned and said coldly, "Miss Walsh, spreading falsehoods has consequences."
"Your family's upbringing is truly eye-opening," Old Hughes said angrily. "You can't even admit what you've done and instead make wild accusations. Do you think we're easy targets because there are only two of us?"
Mr. and Mrs. Walsh wished they had never had this daughter!
Ernest quickly apologized, "Old Hughes, please don't be angry. I know Miss Jones has nothing to do with this."
Leticia was further provoked by her parents defending Deanna.
