Xavier, though puzzled, still obeyed and hung up the phone.
Lance put down his phone, got up, and walked toward the garden. He called out to the two children playing there, "Gregory, Chloe."
"Uncle, are you done talking with Mommy?"
The two children ran over to Lance.
Gregory looked up and asked, "Uncle, what's wrong with Mommy? Is someone bullying her?"
"Indeed, someone is bullying your mommy. So, Uncle has to leave soon to be by her side."
Lance squatted down to explain his intention to the children.
Hearing this, they clamored to go along.
"Uncle is going to deal with the bad guys bullying Mommy. We want to go too."
"Yes, we want to help Mommy get revenge."
Chloe nodded in agreement.
Lance, amused by their eagerness to protect Deanna, said, "You don't need to go. Uncle can handle it alone. Besides, you have a more important task."
The children looked up and asked, "What task?"
"Your task is to take care of your Great-grandma while your mommy and I are away."
Lance persuaded the children.
They didn't notice his ploy and were convinced.
Thus, Lance took Xavier and rushed to Jando overnight.
...
At the Walsh family mansion in Jando, since learning that his grandfather was poisoned, Hassan had stayed by his bedside without leaving.
Ernest, seeing his nephew's dedication, couldn't leave either and stayed in the room with him.
As it got later, Ernest couldn't hold on and advised Hassan, "It's very late. Your grandfather probably won't wake up tonight. You should go rest. You have company matters to handle tomorrow. Don't wear yourself out."
Hassan replied expressionlessly, "Uncle seems quite at ease. Grandpa is like this, and you still have the mood to sleep."
Ernest frowned immediately upon hearing this. "Hassan, what do you mean?"
Hassan turned to look at him with a pressing gaze and asked, "How is the investigation into the poisoning going?"
"So that's what you're concerned about. Although we haven't found any strong leads yet, I assure you we'll catch the culprit!"
Ernest looked at him seriously.
Hassan returned his gaze and said in a deep voice, "I hope you keep your word."
After a pause, he continued, "I'm not very tired yet. If you're tired, you should rest."
Ernest felt a surge of discontent but said nothing and left the room.
Soon, only Hassan and the unconscious Old Walsh remained in the room.
Hassan sat in a chair nearby, handling company matters on his laptop.
After some time, a hoarse voice suddenly came from the bed.
"Water..."
"Grandpa, you're awake."
Hassan approached joyfully and thoughtfully poured a glass of water, helping Old Walsh sit up to drink.
After drinking the water, Old Walsh fully woke up.
He glanced at the clock on the bedside table and frowned. "Have I been unconscious for this long?"
"Don't worry. Miss Jones said it was due to poisoning and your previously weak condition that caused such a long coma."
Hassan quickly explained, knowing what his grandfather was concerned about.
Old Walsh's face darkened immediately upon hearing this. "You said I was poisoned? What happened?"
He looked sharply at Hassan with his aged eyes.
Hassan calmly recounted the events from the beginning.
In conclusion, he said, "Uncle and I are investigating this matter. We should have news soon. Don't worry."
"I trust you."
Old Walsh looked at Hassan approvingly.
He then sighed deeply with a complex face and said earnestly, "It seems someone couldn't hold back while I was ill."
Hassan's face also darkened upon hearing this.
Seeing his grandfather's pale face, he suppressed his anger and advised, "Don't think too much. We've finally found a doctor who can treat you. No matter what, you need to recover first to have the strength for retribution later."
Old Walsh agreed with his grandson's words.
The most important thing now was to recover his health; everything else was secondary.
"Alright, I'm fine now. You should go rest. Don't wear yourself out."
He waved Hassan away.
Hassan hesitated and suggested, "Should I call Miss Jones to check on you?"
"No need. It's late; Dr. Deanna is resting too. Don't worry about me. I know my own body well. Go rest; if you collapse from exhaustion, I won't be able to explain it to your parents."
Old Walsh shook his head and urged Hassan to leave again.
Hassan had no choice but to leave the room.
